magnetik north is live drum electronics. drum performances are fed through processors, samplers and sequencers to produce layers of rhythmic patterns that interact with each other. other instruments are melted into different textures so that only the harmonic content remains. this is a new project from ian tregoning, engineer and producer for artists as diverse as yello and fela kuti. now working with jaki liebezeit, the legendary drummer from can, to add his endless evolving rhythms. jaki s in a world of his own as he balances technical brilliance with subtle restraint. recording started in the summer 2006 in an old jazz studio in the south of ko&#776,,,,ln. jaki arrived with a minimal drum kit including customised cymbals, a snare and a huge gretsch floor-tom from the can days. all of jaki s performances are complete takes with no drop-ins, loops or edits. the backing tracks for evolver were recorded without using key changes. each song features one key which is held continuously while other instruments and effects are blended with the key. drums (also tuned to the same key) were added last which is another unusual technique. as jaki says they re often overlooked as tuned instruments in their own right . the finished results are a minimal blend of industrial and classical. like listening to a raga in an earthquake.

legs 11 was formed when sigmund floyd, of palace of pleasure fame, joined forces with torstein dyrnes from the now defunct playstation duo tøyen, and mysterious bedroom musician nils tveten. during a karaoke-fuelled haze in the seedy parts of oslo, they discovered a shared love of synth pop, post-punk, new wave and house music. drawing on these influences, the band has created a diverse musical universe, ranging from dark repetitive guitar driven tracks, via infectious pop gems, to deep yet melodic dancefloor-orientated grooves. in 2017 they were joined by multi-instrumentalist audun severin eftevåg, who also brought a new instrument into the band: the saxophone! the �another wave� album is hand-picked tracks from their latest works, focusing on a more dancier approach. the house and nu-dance influences of today is mixed with heavy influences from 90�s uk indie-dance acts like the shamen and the madchester scene, and hints of new wave from the 80�s.

re-release: released in 1993, the technology ep appeared on the start of a re-establishment of electro music and a beginning for the direct beat label. that would be a constant reminder of where to see aux88 material come to light. -technology- carried the aux88 brand onto radio, mainstream club and dance parties...become a sought after 12- by a band that proclaimed its sound as electro/techno . the techno bass mix is the original track, (now for the first time available) rhythm mix is a different animal on its own... within the track you can hear the growth of what would become the sound of emerging aliases in years to come and the use of distinct voices/vocals. with both versions from the original studio recordings in 1993, listeners will be treated to a major bonus point in the birth of the aux quadrant of projects to come. designed for a well-deserved space on the global dance floor.

the fifth release in this tribute series to the techno legend christian morgenstern is here. side a kicks off with a trippy version of morgenstern�s �spiegelkerker�, by konsequent label chief maral salmassi - a carefully set psychedelic trap, building up gently just to drag you through its tunnelling groove, inside the eye of the hurricane. twr72�s remix of �ex machina� on b1, merges the interlocking samples of the original in a vortex, spiral around the pounding kick, rolling right into the heart of the milky way.the final track, a remastered version of morgenstern�s �girls got rhythm� sets the pace, with a dense groove and pounding beats, accenting a colourful cluster of house elements, with streams of sparkling metallic percussion.
