nicole atkins (born october 1, 1978) is an american singer-songwriter best known for her work with the band nicole atkins & the sea. her sound is known for its mix of traditional vocal styles and introspective lyrics. she has been compared to roy orbison and singers from the brill building era.

das zodiak free arts lab, auch bekannt als zodiak club, war eine temporäre gleichwohl sehr einflussreiche location für experimentelle live musik ende der 1960er. von kreuzberger künstlern 1967 im damaligen west berlin gegründet, war das zodiak free arts lab für eine weile ein wahres paradies für musiker, denn das laboratorium war ausgestattet mit instrumenten, verstärkern und lautsprechern, mit denen jeder ganz nach lust und laune spielen und experimentieren durfte.
vier jahrzehnte später hatte argy die idee, das konzept des clubs wieder zu beleben. argy ist einer der wenigen produzenten, die dieser tage einen völlig eigenen dance music sound kreieren, wie man an solch großartigen eps wie >love dose< (auf pokerflat inc. erschienen) hören kann oder bei seinen remixen für ibadan und defected und natürlich auch bei all den anderen vielzähligen projekten, in die er involviert ist. anschließend an den zodiak club der 60er hat argy für einen kurzen zeitraum seine eigenen privaten räumlichkeiten in berlin geöffnet um mit kollegen und freunden zu jamen. argy konzentrierte sich jedoch nicht nur auf musik-experimente, sondern lud seine gäste ein mit ihm gemeinsam an einer reihe von happenings teilzunehmen, wie zum beispiel an live musik sessions, abendessen, der gemeinsamen erfahrung der vielen facetten von schönheit, konversationen und allerlei anderen bizarren oder exzentrischen erlebnissen.

ganz sicher in zukunftsweisender absicht legt der argentinier franco cinelli mit mwaves einen unsagbar lockeren groove vor, der sexy uber die hihat schleift, wahrend der synth in sonniger selbstvergessenheit auf die open air saison zu perlt und diehormone aktiviert. die flipside kommt mit seuil, einem langjahrigen freund und begleiter der harry kleingemeinde, der erst jungst wieder bei den sagenumwobenen recken der circus company demonstrierte, wie das mit house und jazz nochmal zu verstehen war. auch auf freakin 4 definiert seuil coolness als mit dem fus wippende eleganz und begibt sich damit in eine tradition, die auf jean paul&#8208,,,,,belmondo zuruckgehen durfte, zu einer zeit, als lassigkeit noch unlosbar mit einer kippe im mundwinkel zusammengedacht wurde.

the index is a project by two of new york city s underground music pioneers, raz mesinai aka badawi and dub war founder dave q. the label centers on original badawi productions at the intersection of dub and modern composition, as well as new works and remixes by some of the most forward-thinking artists at the outer limits of dubstep and experimental electronica. the first release was 2010 s head-melting el topo / dstry all pfrfts team-up with shackleton, and this second entry finds badawi reviving new york s dystopian hip hop lineage via a collaboration with the legendary mc sensational of jungle brothers and wordsound fame. no schnitzel is a militant, mind-bending half-step rhythm that sensational weaves in and out of, creating a new form of dubstep-hip hop hybrid with a unique bad apple flavor. the dubbed-out version strips it down to the instrumental roots, while flipside more schnitzel goes deeper into abstracted acid dubstep for the more adventurous soundsystem selectors.

the -makeovers- project is a compilation of some of claudes best re-twists, some of which are so far removed they can almost be considered original works. this special edition vinyl includes one of the most sought after remixes, -warpaint- originally by pocket 808 in australia, vonstroke turned this into a late night anthem in 2007. played by techno djs, dubstep djs, and everyone in between this track was never cut to vinyl until now. on the flip side claude remixed the nublu orchestra out of new york. he was never completely happy with the original version of the remix and hes gone back and re-made it into a very special piece of music including a new vocal sample from his wife aundy who also did the vocal effects in whos afraid of detroit? this collection was put together with the theme that a remix can be an inspiring starting point for an entirely new piece of music. these are two of the deeper and darker remixes but we think you agree they are also very special.
