The Manchester-based label has already been home to one of the years big anthems with Finnebassens huge >If You Only Knew<. But it is not just about anthems and big tunes, there is also a focus on the deeper end of house music whilst retaining labels commitment to disco and summer vibes in every release. In other words, though they specialise in deep house, but it is never too serious or morose. Early DJ support from: Maceo Plex, Noir, Andre Crom, Waifs & Strays, Wildkats, The Mekansim, Tom Budden, Giom, Seth Troxler, Maxxi Soundsystem, Flashmob, Miguel Puente, Cera Alba, Downtown Party Network, Lula Circus, Amine Edge, Maher Daniel, Jay West & many more!
As you may expect from an 'Ibiza' sampler, this new release has a generally sunny outlook with a few melancholy moments here and there.
The four tracks present come from the likes of freshly-established & solid producers like James Pople, Bubba alonhside new names.
The styles vary from Lula Circus' guitar-riff-driven Light Outside, which sounds like an ode to Herbie Hancock with its high-pitched, movie soundtrack esque guitar and squelchy bassline, through to deep, retro cuts like Pople's I Never Knew – a bouncy, Faith Evans-sampling underground track for the late-night lurkers.
Belfast's Bubba works his usual magic with Do It 2 Me, and rounding things off is Timmy P with 'Jazz That beat'
Something for everyone, then. Electronique continue to impress with their releases, and I can't wait to see what else they've got in store this year.[info from pd]
