Sven Atterton‘s much anticipated follow up to ‘The Cove’, thematically named ‘The Cape’, drops on his newly formed Cruise Club Records. Anyone that’s experienced the wonder of Sven live, is well aware of the prowess and apparent effortlessness he possesses on stage. As at home laying it down on a synth, as he is tearing it up on the bass, ‘The Cape’ showcases modern synth boogie as good as anyone at present. ‘Taboo’, one of many highlights, demonstrates both Sven’s skills as a multi-instrumentalist and as an accomplished producer. Flexing those 80’s LinnDrum hits, getting spiritual on the keys, whilst layering that full frontal bass and dreamy pads – it’s a nod to the past, whilst re-imagining it for the modern age. And considering the cost Sven’s debut album now goes for on Discogs, ‘The Cape’ is one to snap up on sight.
