Last spotted on The Exaltics’ Solar One imprint and The Hague’s notorious Bunker label, enigmatic producer Q-Chip unleashes a 6-track EP on Gnosis, following the labels inaugural release from Myriadd (aka Mantra). ‘Access Consciousness’ is the logical 21st Century progression in an electronic music lineage that can be traced from the blueprint laid down by Kraftwerk’s ‘Man Machine’ aesthetic through Drexciya in their various incarnations. Armed with his machines, Q-Chip harnesses the energy of pure voltage and sculpts it into sonic visions of the future, whilst acknowledging the rhythmic foundations of electro. This is music that is in essence synthetic and yet at its core human. Immaculately produced and conceived, utilising precision tooled beats, deep analogue basslines, eerie glacial synth work and economical vocals deployed to maximum effect.
