Joy Division & New Order Members !
“Monaco (2000) is the self-titled second and final studio album by Monaco, following their debut album Music for Pleasure (1997). Monaco was a side project (1995–2000) of Joy Divsion and New Order bass player Peter Hook, alongside David Potts, the sole remaining member of Revenge. The album reflects Hook and Potts' shared passion for blending rock with electronic and dance music. While it retains some of the melodic sensibilities and bass-driven grooves reminiscent of New Order, it establishes it’s own distinct identity with a rawer and more introspective tone.
Peter Hook’s signature melodic basslines are central to the album, providing a driving, rhythmic backbone to many tracks. The album balances darker, introspective lyrics with upbeat tempos and catchy hooks, a hallmark of Hook's work. David Potts takes on lead vocals, delivering emotive performances that complement the songs' mood. His voice adds a personal and intimate touch to the album.
The album features the single "I've Got A Feeling" and the beat-driven track "See Saw," whose bittersweet lyrics and lush instrumentation make it a centerpiece of the record.
Now, 25 years after its original CD release, "Monaco" is finally available on vinyl for the first time. This 25th anniversary expanded edition, a gatefold 2LP with 5 bonus tracks, including a 4-page full-colour booklet, comes as an individually numbered limited edition of 2000 copies on minty ice-green coloured vinyl.[info sheet from distr.]
