Sales Informations:

Michael Fakesch used to be one half of Funkstörung (R.I.P.). From 1994 until their break-up in 2006 the two electronic wizards have been pioneers in combining weird beats, digital Electro-madness and beautiful melodies. Their merciless remixes for Björk and Wu-Tang Clan marked their breakthrough and gained them international fame.

After the decease of Funkstörung Michael Fakesch concentrated on doing sounddesigns for commercials (e.g. Toyota, Sony, Vodafone, Kia, Philips,….) und even won the Grand Prix 2009 of the Cannes Golden Lions. He did music for shortmovies (e.g. ‘Between’), he has reprocessed soundtracks (e.g. for the Oscar awarded Shortfilm ‘Glas’), did drafts for Hollywood scores (e.g. ‘Shoot Em Up’) and -of course- also did remixes!

For the remixcompilation ‘Exchange’ Michael Fakesch collected all his best remixes and therewith builds up on Funkstörung’s milestones ‘Additional Productions’ or ‘Viceversa’.
Due to the fact most of the remixes never have been released or just have been available in very limited amounts, this remixcompilation can be considered to be a new Fakesch album, whose predecessor ‘dos’ (!K7 Records) is almost 3 years of age.

Exchange (Red) is the first E.P. in a series of 3. It comes in red vinyl and UV-varnished covers.

track by track
A1. MR OIZO Lambs Anger_Jo (Fakesch Remix) [Ed Banger]
Starting with a big Bang! At a party (and pretty loaded) Fakesch promised Quentin Dupieux (aka Mr. Oizo) to do a remix for him, which -for whatever reason- got lost…exclusively for ‘Exchange’ this remix has been rediscovered! Fakesch took samples of the tracks ‘Jo’ and ‘Lambs Anger’, shred them and so created a cutted-funk-beast, whose oldschool-house-middlepart might put a grin on all the senior-ravers out there.
A2. BOOKA SHADE Mandarine Girl (Fakesch Remix) [Get Physical]
‘Mandarine Girl’ is propably the raveanthem of the last years and it’s almost a wonder Booka Shade let Fakesch get his fingers onto their most successful track so far…but it was worth it! Fakesch’s remix is IDM by definition: intelligent and dancable!
B1. SCAFFOLDING D-Tron (Fakesch Remix) [Plastic Sound Supply]
Scaffolding are long time fellows of Michael Fakesch and so this amazing glitch-acid-rework (with that certain Chicagohouse-appeal) just had to be on ‘Exchange’.
B2. BOMB THE BASS feat. Paul Conboy So Special (Fakesch Remix) [!K7]
Bomb The Bass aka Tim Simenon, who produced Neneh Cherry’s break thru album as well as Depeche Mode’s comeback album has been a fan of Funkstörung and Michael Fakesch for years. At ‘So Special’ Fakesch surprises with an almost Radiohead’ish soundaesthetic which screws together electronic, acoustic and the vocals of Paul Conboy to a pretty diversified song.
B3. X.A. CUTE feat. SHADOWHUNTAZ Head In Noose (Fakesch Remix) [Mesk]
US rappers Shadowhuntaz are well-known for their releases on Plug Research and Autechre’s Skam Records. Booming bass and beats are the ingredients of Fakesch’s ‘Head In Noose’ remix that let’s you feel like driving in a tank.
