Hey you lucky bastards, here is another re-edit package for you. No wait come back, this one is actually worth parting with your hard earned for. Instead of the usual, frankly ridiculous and unnecessary edits of Michael Jackson, MGMT, Chic and Mark Morrison (!) and the likes cluttering up the shelves of your local vinyl emporium, we have got some landmark, ahead of its time, rare, French psychedelic disco from Jean Pierre Massiera to get your chops round.
This shadowy figure has had his fingers in many of France’s most arcane musical pies, from Visitors’s surrealist sympho-prog anomalies and Horrific Child’s deranged diversions to JPM & Co.’s discombobulated disco aberrations, and has been quoted as Frances’ answer to Joe Meek, Giorgio Moroder and Tom Moulton rolled into one! What we have on this record are tracks lovingly placed in the edit blender from PBR Streetgang, Bonar Bradberry and Soft Rocks. These were originally meant to see the light of day on a JPM re-edit album, but for reasons too boring to go into here the album was shelved, but these canny re-editors knew they had some leftfield disco gold that needed sharing, so they’ve done the decent thing and put them on wax. Suffice to say that these four version’s of JPM’s awesome, ridiculously funky grooves are all worth a place in your collection, and could well go onto to be as collectable as the originals.[ydny01_info from wa]
