Longtime SF fave Joshua (aka DJ Iz) makes his Doubledown debut with a solid three-track EP thats definitely one for the groovers. A-side cut Sound Check will get the maximum play, a stripped-down filtered cut that pays homage to Joshs Chicago roots, mixing a hypnotic jazzy loop with some straight-up drums and catchy hip-hop vocal samples. Josh keeps it moving on the flip, with Rhythmic Path, a bass-heavy funky cut-up with some Tribe Called Quest samples and a more dubbier mix of Sound Check. One of Joshs tightest EPs in a while, as always with that Doubledown quality touch!
