This soundtrack remains so powerful and evocative it could almost stand alone from the classic western it accompanied. Just close your eyes and it won’t take long for you to start conjuring up images of grizzled mountain men, intrepid wayfarers, murderous outlaws, boom-town mining camps, lines of covered wagons across the skyline and the great American outdoors that just seems to go on forever.
