From the chopped up industrial hip-hop of album opener Body Hammer, through to last single Transmission’s perfect deconstruction of garage and rave nostalgia, right onto Version’s smoked out dub frequencies, Forrest is an artist who refuses to be pigeonholed.

Whilst throughout the album Forrest displays a skill for constructing juggernaut sized rhythms, tracks like Machine and Dark Optimus heavy enough to flatten any dancefloor, there’s a lot more to Industrial Avenue than just a collection of bass heavy tear outs and it’s the intricate programming that really sets his productions apart and holds your attention from start to finish.

From the time signatures that will catch you out if you’re not on your guard, to the obsessive attention to detail that packs every song full of hidden moments, this an album that works as well on your own through headphones at home as it does being blasted through a house sized soundsystem at a rave.

With heavyweight names such as Mary Anne Hobbs and N-Type, joining an ever-growing worldwide fan base, Forrest has delivered on the early promise of singles like Pinball with an early contender for album of the year and one of the most accomplished debuts in recent memory.
