THE HARRY J SESSIONS (LP)
12 Inch
09.02.18
recorded while gerald was in jamaica working on a project with lee perry in 1980. the master tapes of the four tracks that were recorded at the harry j sessions were only recently discovered. utopia was the only track that had been given a final mix back in the day. it was released on 7- on the black star liner later in the year and then reissued on partial records in 2014. the other tracks were never mixed until early 2017 when this task was undertaken by dougie wardrop. as well as mixing jerusalem (gerald did a later version of this tune for rej forte s jah works label in the early 1990s), working for the dollar and constant spring , it was decided that utopia should also enjoy a fresh mix.

INSURRECTION (7 INCH)

17.08.17
*landing on partial, from the man jah scoop is insurrection’ - a moody and militant organ-tinged melodic instrumental piece, which refreshingly features nothing but “real instruments”. so, think late 1970’s style with perhaps an unintentional nod towards jackie mittoo’s ayatolla’ *despite the brooding pace and nature of insurrection’, it drops heavy on sound system, especially the echo-laden dub version on the b-side. *so, jah scoop? who dat? jah scoop is in fact guy mcaffer aka geezer, the legendary techno producer and artist geezer of¬ raw and stay up forever fame. he’s also the keyboard player for festival-favourites back to the planet and guitarist with punk outfit dogshite. that’s who.
SERENGETI (7 INCH)

*a hypnotic flute-led instrumental from singer, composer and genre-hopping multi-instrumentalist g.t. moore. * serengeti first appeared under g.t’s the outsider guise for rej forte s jah works label back in 1991 appearing on the long-deleted album the outsider meets the hi-tech roots dynamics at channel one uk’. *now appearing on 45 for the first time backed with a previously unreleased dub version. * yet another in-demand obscurity brought to you by the ever on-the-ball partial records

• produced and and mixed by rej forte, children of the father’ comes backed with a previously unreleased dub plate cut
LION (7 INCH)
7 Inch
07.08.17
restless mashaits hailing from geneva are based around the core of jil and stuf. they released a sizeable amount of new roots classics throughout the 90s and 00’s. recently becoming active again, they are best remembered for the sessions they recorded at kingston, jamaica in the mid/late 90s with legendary musicians such as vin gordon, deadly headly and dizzy moore. the original releases have been since long deleted, but some are now unearthed thanks to partial records. * lion’ from 1996, features the legendary jamaican percussionist scully simms (who recently passed away) and was in every box of all serious roots selectors back then. now long deleted, this will fill in the gap for the many collectors who have this on their wants lists. dub lion’ is a different dub version to the one previously released in 1996.
