hip-hop-urgestein, produzent und dilated-peoples-rapper evidence meldet sich 2018 mit einem neuen album zurück. »weather or not« heißt seine vierte soloplatte, der nachfolger von »lord steppington« aus dem jahr 2014. mit »throw it all away«, »10.000 hours« und »jim dean« schickte michael perretta, wie evidence mit bürgerlichem namen heißt, bereits mehrere vorboten ins rennen. und die zeigen, dass der rapper seinen ruf als ikone völlig zu recht genießt. für die produktion von »weather or not« sicherte sich evidence die unterstützung des »who is who« der szene, darunter dj premier, nottz und langzeitpartner the alchemist. als gastmusiker holte er sich außerdem slug, catero, defari, krondon, mach hommy, styles p, rapsody, khrysis, jonwayne und rakaa ins studio. das resultat ist ein 16 titel starkes vorzeige-rapalbum. nichts anderes erwartet man von einer legende.

coalmine records is excited to announce the limited-edition vinyl release of the artifacts’ highly regarded 2012 single, “easter,” which marked the group’s first official release in more than 15 years.
initially released as a digital single on april 3, 2012 (the tuesday before easter sunday), the track later appeared on coalmine’s decennary compilation, unearthed, which dropped may 13, 2014.
however you heard it—one thing was very clear: despite their time apart, artifacts emcees tame one and el da sensei sounded as fresh as ever on “easter.” the new jersey rappers’ venomous flows are boosted by the neck-breaking production of acclaimed north carolina producer khrysis. making the cipher complete is the turntable work of dj dutchmaster, who provides the scratch hook and outro cuts.
with this release, “easter” makes its grand return in the physical form in a limited-edition white vinyl pressing that also includes the instrumental track on the flip. it also takes things back to the old-school by way of a front jacket hole that exposes the label (the heads know what’s up).

repress. both hip-hop and boot camp click purists alike have long recognized and appreciated sean’s commanding delivery, powerful voice and clever verses (exemplified by monkey barz playful leadsingle onion head). with ayatollah, agallah, 9th wonder, nottz, & khrysis contributing beats as well as guest appearances from the boot camp click’s core members (black moon’s buckshot & 5ft, smif n wesson’s tek & steele, o.g.c.’s louieville sluggah and starang wondah, rustee juxx and sean’s heltah skeltah cohort rock makes two cameo’s) the bcc collective was fully in-tact and operational for sean price’s 2005 solo-debut. monkey barz was named independent album of the year by allhiphop.com and was the first release from duck down records 2005 “triple threat campaign”, followed by buckshot & 9th wonder’s chemistry, and smif-n-wessun’s smif ‘n’ wessun: reloaded, with many believing it was the most acclaimed of the three.
