Built around a deceptively simple, repetitive melody – as all good 4am club music should be – and laid down onto analogue tape, as well as the original two beatless versions were created. Version 1 keeps the original speed, just smearing out the melodies slightly, to make an effective DJ tool. Whereas version 2 takes things to their logical conclusion, setting the tape machine to 7.5 inches per second, and drawing the chords out into a blissed-out piece of ambient wobble.
Sacrifice will be out on 12” on SMD’s own Delicacies label on the 10th of June, and out digitally on the 24th June. This is the first in a series of SMD collaborations planned for the rest of the year.
