Crystal Fighters have announced details of their highly anticipated second album. It’s entitled ‘Cave Rave’ and will be released on Zirkulo/Different Recordings/[PIAS] on 27th May 2013.

The stunning album artwork is by the visionary artist Paul Laffoley. Comissioned by the band, the dense piece encompasses history, architecture, science, philosophy, religion, and transcendent spirituality, all themes explored by Crystal Fighters on this new album.

‘Cave Rave’ was written in the Basque hills, a region that has been integral to Crystal Fighters’ sound and that inspired their first album ‘Star Of Love’. Crystal Fighters then decamped to Los Angeles and recorded the album with Grammy nominated producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck/Air/M83/Paramore).

The annoucement of the Cave Rave comes with the unveiling of the introductory track from the album, ‘Separator’ - a perfect example of Crystal Fighters expanding their sound palette further than the manic, multi-genre rush of Star Of Love.

Melding euphoric rock with the beating heart of techno, Mexican dance music 3bal and a brash punk energy, it seems to be influenced just as much by traditional Basque music from the 18th century as modern-day clubland, and contains residual traces of every genre, scene, style or party that has existed in-between.

Crystal Fighters have established themselves as one of Europe’s most exciting live acts and they’ll be embarking on a world tour in 2013. Most of their shows in May have already sold out with their London show at Koko selling out a full six months in advance.
