Many people seem to think there has been a House music
resurgence. Whether House has been masquerading as
Minimal, swaying Disco-House, or in the form of a
soundtrack to drunken 19 year-olds´ night out as Fidget, it
never really left. Some say this “new” sound has been
coming in droves out of what many call The Rhein-Main,
an area of Southwest Germany in and around Frankfurt
am Main. Well, why would it come from this area in
particular? Probably because it has always been there,
while you were listening to clicks, pops, and sampled airhorns,
House has been alive and kicking. Three guys - the
duo Einzelkind and Christian Burkhardt - who have been
living the sound of true House - have mixed modernity with
analog drums sampled from a crusty 808, run through a
barely functioning tape machine and ancient tube
compressors, to give it that real vintage sound. The result
