The follow up to the hugely successful Calling You 12" with Payzant and Truth is Light's 11th release. This is the 3rd part of the 3 records that Lev and Payzant worked on together in the same studio session. In continuing the mission to find and redo more out of the ordinary songs, the label has also begun the push for next level analogue mastering. We have hired the formidable POLE to help achieve this new quality in sound on all the future records.

For the title cut we go to Orlando, Fl. And for those who thought soulful slappers were the exclusive sound of California, think again. Florida's boogie sound was equally as dynamic as the west coasts signature sound. With it's use of electronic drums, clap and minimal synth bassline, this record was quite unique for 83. Another unknown pre-house vocal monster.

On the flip is just another taste of Payzant and Lev's affinity for the more tougher, ghetto inspired sounds of dance music. Before hip hop took all street leaning producers towards making rap, a lot of underground r&b had a real gangster quality to it and this sexually suggestive song doesn't disappoint. Real dark and eerie, yet completely infectious. Like the whore at the club who you know you shouldn't have fucked with, but worth the shot of penicillin at the doctor's that week.

Lastly, Black and Punk. Inhibited is one of those songs that is not for everybody. But not every song has to be of the traditional dance genre. This rare as it comes 45 was just begging to be fixed and freaked. It's for the type of dj who wants to take chances as there will be no hiding behind this song at all. [txt from ]
