Halo's "Let Me Do It" is more than a good example of how a wonderful tune, a stunning recording, and big city connections don't guarantee success in the music industry. Hook laden, with a dance beat that is deep in the pocket, this tune is a solid winner. The recording session was produced by Lawrence Hilton Jacobs (welcome back cotter, Cooley high) and featured James Gadson (Charles Wright, dyke and the blazers) on drums. The original recording was pressed twice, both on very small LA based indie labels. Neither release did much to gain attention in 1981. The tune has since went on to become a legendary underground classic in worldwide soul scenes. To this day no more than a handful of the original records have surfaced. The worlds top collectors and dj's are willing to donate organs for original copies of this tune. Originally released as a two sided 7" single, we believe this record deserved a proper 12" release, which was the appropriate format for this type of music in 1981. Also we are including a special Extended re-edit never before heard prior to this Lotus Land 12" release. Pressed at 45 rpm on two sides of 12" we are hoping this will be a lovely loud recording for the funk and soul of Dj's of today to have fun with. [info from ]
