Currently embarking on an exciting solo career, Saved Records are proud to release his latest EP
Having rediscovered fresh inspiration and a refined sound that spans the genre divides between house & techno, Rolando now marks his return to the forefront of the scene with The Afterlife EP. A deeply textured collection of tracks that represent a significant stage in this latest phase of Rolando's career with his music characterized by its smooth blend of warm, deep, groovy techno.
Kicking off the EP is The Afterlife; a classic sounding piece of Latin-tinged melodic deep house laced with trademark Rolando strings and a sublimely resonant chord pattern. Paced out perfectly to allow the warm sounds to wash over the listener, a twisted edge is retained by a twitching 303 that reminds you this a techno record, albeit a mesmerizingly beautifully and deeply serine one.
Running provides the heavy dancefloor element of the EP. This one is all about the groove with a big old kick relentlessly driving along a combined symphony of a fuzzy, pulsing bassline and jacking synth loops. Abrasive and hypnotic, these timeless techno grooves are built to do what they do best. Simplistic and powerful with a respectful nod to the old school this joint is heavy.
Reminiscent of Roland's work as Aztec Mystic, Chatterbox, takes things to a darker place. Opening up with cinematic style space-age atmospherics, an ominous kind of edgy tension is the life force of this head-twister. Jangling, nagging keys provide the focus for a intense build while scratchy distorted hats split out at you from the thud of a marching beat. Wonderfully nasty stuff. [afterlife_info from ]
