wes anderson der clubmusik wurde er genannt. auch deutscher james murphy. die faz hat ihn sogar als den underground-moroder betitelt, vermutlich weil seine musik immer schon etwas anders war als alles andere, das man sonst aus der pop und clubwelt hšrte. denn das ist fakt: mathias modica und die jungs auf seinem label gomma haben den aktuellen status quo der musik immer schon ein bisschen weitergedacht. ein neues kapitel in der an hoehepunkten nicht armen geschichte von munk und der mittlerweile 15-jaehrigen historie von gomma wird das neue album chanson 3000 markieren. gesanglich unterstźtzt wurde modica auf dem neuen album von den beiden sŠngerinnen lizzie paige und mona lazette.

munk is the project of gomma label founder mathias modica (germanys most interesting electronic music label the nme). munk is best known for his collaborations with rebolledo from pachanga boys (surf smurf), james murphy lcd soundsystem (kick out the chairs), asia argento (live fast die old) and club hits like down in l.a. and la musica. he co- produced the albums of gomma bands whomadewho and moullinex.

this vinyl ep is a collaboration between paris label correspondant and germanys gomma records. remixes by los angeles finest psychedelic electronic producer secret circuit (beats in space records) and german shooting star lauer (partner of gerd janson at tuff city kids). why this ep? gomma has a long history with the paris scene. mathias munk modica who runs gomma (and sublabel toy tonics) has been living in france for many years. he worked with many parisian artists from dj chloe (on munks first album aperitivo 2004) to the ed banger crew or black strobe. probably apart of berlin there is no city in the world that saw more gomma events than paris. seems only a project with jennifer cardini missed. so jennifer invited mathias last year to send over tracks. decision was made fast. and so wurlitzer wank and the bösus bounce have come up on correspondant.

if you ve followed local talk thru the years you ve most likely noticed how we like to throw a few curve-balls every now and then. for our 65th release we ve got gomma boss mathias modica aka munk and ndatl head honcho kai alce sharing the black gold. two producers with their own unique style presenting something special. while munk s original version of hot medusa is a shimmering and warm head-nodding & toe-tapping jam, the remix by mr alce is deep, soulful and musically rich house. two very different takes on one track, take your pick. on the flip munk delivers purple dust. this time he s upped the tempo a few bpm s, accompanied by a deep bassline with lush melodic synths and chords. mr alce ends the 12- with a dub of hot medusa which is brilliant from start to finish. another highly recommended and essential release.

the fifth release in ygroks limited catalog debuts the dkm project of samantha waldram, a native of barcelona. the a1 is her rework of the sound poem titled little ali hommage to forough farrokhzad by giorgio sancristoforo, a contemporary italian sound artist. the heavy rolling groove makes her track compatible with any dancefloor while still keeping the wild psychedelic flavor of the piece. giorgios original piece opens the b side with its disorienting collage of bells, modular bleeps and cresting, tumbling waves of persian syllables. the ep closes with a stripped down beat and soundscape tool in the finest ygrok tradition
