this trio of producers team up for this hot 12 inch on hypertone. the title cut kicks things off with a deep shuffling slice of house with cool melodic elements and vocals over a hypnotic groove. gimme the sound continues the vibe and desolat man hector kills it on the remix.
cristi cons and vlad caia are household names that really need no further introduction. their dj sets are techno stories well told and their live act is already making waves worldwide. amphia is first and foremost the platform they use to broadcast their finest works. such is the case of sideways, their latest lp, containing more than a dozen tracks coming your way trilogy style.
the first part reveals six tracks on two heavyweight discs. although most of the tracks fit the usual sit musical approach, the listener is greeted with a wide pallete of rhythms. assemble is an atmospheric dub infused with violins and orchestral echoes. permissive starts things up with a playful bass progression and continues with lush pads and cryptic voices. brooklyn’s deep moody synths and monster groove render it broken poetry at it’s best. for sure it will resemble those early danceable mornings. on a more joyful manner we are presented next with bootcamp s sturdy baseline and playful modulated vocals.
mandatory claims a whole side of the second disc and so does come around. while the first is almost experimental but danceable and warm due to the occasional driving percussions and 303 sounds the latter is the star of the show. come around is 15 minutes long and comes with a story too. a great collection of tracks, a great story that backs each one of them makes the first part of the sideways lp trilogy a treat to listen and dance to.
straight out of sheffield! classic bring you one from the new school….scott monkz. currently bubbling around with a fantastic vinyl following scott is set for higher ground.a master of the swingy beat and blaxploitation sample - thatmanmonkz takes a little detroit, a little chicago and a whole lot of sheffield to add his spin on an old school sound. drafting in the vocal talents of pete simpson, this ep moves things around wonderfully. luke solomon has supported monkz heavily on his business as usual radio show over the last 2 years….and now its time to welcome him officially into the classic family.
house for her is a label founding its birth in the need that she s gone had to express his feelings in his mixes and productions. the time came to him, 1 year ago to give the floor to other people, to let everyone build pieces of music around their lived experience. in this release, the four artists came to cover in mist the wax in a cascade of tablecloths sometimes soft and other times more aggressive, to develop a ep rich in questioning, ranging from dance pieces to other more ambient things, linking them together to tell a story. raär and mp-57, as usual, darkened in the pile, revealing brutal tracks but nevertheless completely full of feelings. devant, with a more colorful touch, has come to appease the ep of a piece of a house deep and sexy, endowed with an atmosphere reminding us much nostalgia. and finally entrave, in a final piece, quietly envelops us to finish to walk in this ep, as in a novel, a kind of sombre happy-end.
3 track 12 from new but not new artist anno stamm. an alias of berlin producer lars stöwe aka anstam who has been one of our favourite producers around all city towers these last few years. original with a capital o, anno stamm is allowing him to fiddle about in the undergrowth even further. raw and twisted, dark with a dash of colour and heavy with the drums. 3 tracks in all, and those of a certain vintage should be able to spot the sample on lead track * i still have the photographs*. as always for those to whom such things matters - theres the usual full colour shrink-wrapped artwork with a download code.
berlin-based belgian producers sierra sam & marcus vector present the debut release of d.i.y. (dumb irresponsible youth), their new house-oriented project. sierra sam (toysforboys, einmaleins, trapez) and marcus vector (toysforboys, nomor, playground) recently released their first joint effort for contexterrior. working together once again, this time around theyve put aside their usual dark techno inclinations, opting instead for uninhibited house led by analog percussion sounds. drumroll, please… >pimp my saw< is a frenzy layers and layers of toms, kicks, steeldrums and clicks. >screw it up< is a more melodic affair, with the classic build-up and tension that defines classic house material, plus a hint of latino finesse. on the flip, >hammer of love< closes things out with a shuffly balance between the organic and the artificial, with looming atmospheric ambience to set a darker tone. these three tracks are the perfect tools to use where the sun dont shine. (that would be the nightclub, you pervert!)
circle music means continuous movement but not going round in circles, pure power yet brilliant soundscapes, various styles but one entire element - the perfect groove. circle is best suited for dance floor use as well as for driving around in the city or listening comfort somewhere on the outskirts of your hometown. the label consistently followed his vision of a musical community, a familiar environment which covers a great range of styles and approaches of producing and performing electronic music. the world of circle compilation is different to usual v.a. compilations you heard so far. its much more than a musical statement of a label giving a definition of its sound. its a personal statement of all featured artists because all tracks are presented exclusively on this compilation. incl audiofly, chaim, robert babicz, lopazz & …, v. kanzyani, alex flatner , bryan zentz , stryke & santos
one of the loosest grooves around a freakily funky number that sounds retro whilst benefitting from the bands usual shimmering production hac favourite & disco king greg wilson delivers a stunning remix whilst on the flipside james priestley & dan berkson remix things into a techy house groover much better here in its new dub
