for this seconde release, the brotherhood from marseille wanted to present their personal profiles, this ep is built like a various, but built with a common touch, the random bass! hypnotic, trippy and randomised, these tracks are done to push up the dancefloors. the last track is a downtempo vision of the eclectism of this southern crew, hip-hop beat and a bassline played by there friend mike b4, a real candy to close this ep!

radio slave’s colossal ‘the revenge’ track now gets expert remix treatment from klasse wrecks label head luca lozano. luca has also released on the likes of optimo, sex tags ufo and unknown to the unknown and brings a raw, acid tinged sound to his beats. as a performer lozano’s versatile dj sets span between raw house, cosmic disco and dynamic breakbeat selections, which is why he’s become a regular at key clubs across europe and tasteful festivals like houghton. his ‘how bow dis’ remix’ is solid and features wild old school flavours in its huge drum breaks, a monstrous bassline and dark filtered vocals. it bangs for seven superbly heavy minutes with plenty of twists and turns along the way, and will transform any club or warehouse into a writhing, sweaty mass in seconds. on the flip, his ‘how bow dah’’ version is based around elastic drums and rumbling bass while a loose synth line darts about up top. some distant synths bring a sense of serenity to the madness and so despite the physical impact of this one, it also has real emotion to it.

jonah sharp & dj spun pair up as the loose control band to drop a punk-inspired single on rekids with remixes from label founder radio slave and shut boss ryan james ford. having released a large body of work as spacetime continuum (astralwerks) or alongside david moufang as reagenz (workshop), not to mention significant collaborations with the likes of terence mckenna, haruomi hosono and bill laswell, jonah sharp is unquestionably a highly respected producer. his seminal label reflective played an important role in the experimental ambient and techno scene during the ‘90s, whilst as a remixer he’s worked with music by nine inch nails, meat beat manifesto and matthew herbert. meanwhile, jason drummond has long been a commanding force within new yorks electronic music scene, such as running his prestigious warm up music series or his all night rong parties with regulars like dj harvey. hes also been djing and producing as dj spun for two decades, appearing on golf channel recordings as well as his own illustrious imprint rong music, which used to release music collaboratively with dfa. i dont understand sees a raw and uncompromising side to both artists as they layer a cacophony of murky bass, twisted melodies and mind-bending bleeps whilst drummonds turbulent vocals bellow throughout the mix. staying faithful to the original, radio slaves remix incorporates a heady rhythm with its rolling beat as screeching effects join a moody bassline. moving into techno territory, ryan james fords akihabara remix features rattling percussion and crystalline synths whilst his hope remix is built on an intricate drum sequence as soaring pads and echoing keys contrast with the originals piercing vocal.

»ok« wurde in irland in zusammenarbeit mit david predergast, jason boland und der band aufgenommen. die lieder wurden in london von jolyon thomas gemischt, der am besten bekannt für seine arbeit mit slaves und royal blood ist. mit einem frischen »ok«-tattoo beweisen sänger luke und schlagzeuger rob echtes engagement und volle hingabe für ihre kunst und ihr album-artwork.

here it is... a project i unofficially had done since 06Æ. it started when dilla passed february of 06. to cope with the death of my unofficial musical mentor & favorite producer, i started making donuts, uncontrollably. i never planned to release any of the material out of respect for dilla & his craft. iÆve shared some of the music with others, in which they would constantly ask me to hear it, so i decided to put a lil sumthing together and make it official. just for yall. this is a collection of beats i made in 06. some donuts style, some just around that era of 14kt beats. now & laters was always a favorite candy of mine. i used to go to mindells pharmacy in ypsi back in the day and buy all of them. sadly i even stole change from my grandmaÆs (rip) purse for them. ironically, i fell back in love with now and laters around this era. enjoy. 14kt

mkl the man that brought us the thought provoking 3 generations slavery days returns to spiritual life reworking this organic female vocal. teaming up with soy sos again mkl delivers a smooth almost broken beat version, with beautiful strings and live jazzy double bass. on the flip a smoked dub take that really works out the vocal through a maze of trippy tape delays. mkls productions are simply amazing.

after years of playing with the moroccan community of brussels, music maker and jazz musician luc mishalle knows every trick of the cross-fertilization of gnawa music, jazz & brass. gnawa is the northern african islamic sufi music with healing vibrations and spiritual lyrics, played by the descendants of african slaves. the album title “beats & pieces” refers to the collaborations with belgian percussionist roel poriau (think of one, antwerp gipsy-ska orkestra), tunisian electronic producer sofyann ben youssef (ammar808, kel assouf) and moroccan-belgian gnawa master maalem driss filali.

ike yard recombine their music looking across decades of post punk, electronic, soundtracks and come out with some of their best yet and enough to last the next 20-30 years (in ike yard s very own words). originally founded in 1979 new york city, members michael diekmann (keyboard, guitar, vocals), kenneth compton (programming drums, synths arrangements, bass, guitar, vocals) and stuart argabright (programming drums, synths arrangements, distortion bass, keyboards, metal perc) reformed the band once in 2007 and again in 2010. each time different and with new ambitions. this time ‘sacred machine’ ep is defined by detailed drum layers supported by multiple basses and keyboards, some off-timing beat patterns that turn in a second of synchrony into a straight four on the floor kick and first time vocal collaborations.
