legendz records is the normal follow up of famous legendz parties which started in belgium three years ago . for their first release, they decided to invite two belgian producers from two different musical horizons and see how it goes . kolombo is famous for his electro house style with releases on king kong, turbo, systematic, karate, his own vice versa or loulou records. sierra sam is more into the minimal world with music on trapez ltd., einmaleins, his own toys for boys and soon contexterrior the two friends decided to mix their skills on three tracks: alive is based on a fat synth line and rolling bleepy percussions, articulated around a vocal sample. extra voices takes another vocal sample , but adds it a more acid synth line and some more percussive drum soundsscreaming lord is a more aggressive track with more noises and fast percussion lines..

2 sim is a phrase the references mobile phones with two sim cards to describe people of mixed heritage, dual nationality or multiple residence. after being called 2 sim in conversation with a stranger while on a walk through freetown (a recording of this moment features on the record) duval began to explore what the 2 sim experience is in contemporary west-africa. 2 sim ep was created from 2 months of field recordings and interviews with family, friends and peers in freetown sierra leone. these site specific recordings are collaged with solo piano recordings and production recorded in sierra leone and the uk. the ep is accompanied by a short film/ music video of the same name which duval shot and directed whilst making the record. 2 sim ep is the second release from carrying colour which follows on from 2017 s sen am -

blue hawaii, arbutus records and many of their montreal counterparts all began with the same breath in early 2010. to date blue hawaii has released an 8 song ep: in may of that year, blooming summer (arbutus records 2010) was recorded following the pairs travels in central america. it frames a time of warmth and novelty, featuring dense female harmonies, tape saturated synths, guitars and drum machines. eventually ra- returned to her role in braids, touring constantly, while ag– moved to europe, treading deeper into dance music, electronics, and production. the two decided to make untogether in 2012, they began recording on new years day in vancouver and intermittently worked on the project until summer broke in montreal. the music followed their winter in canada, it became colder, more introspective. it again captured a time and place, but instead of a dense saturation of love and excitement, this record reflects the vast world of self-awareness and delicacy.

while sam and marcus are generally known for their more techno-focused productions, last years house tools vol. 1 was a minor hit, with tracks included in ellen alliens resident advisor podcast, jay hazes recent fabric47 mix cd, and m.a.n.d.y.s charts. since then, they ve kept busy with their own toys for boys label, meanwhile sierra sam has co-produced the debut album by bloody mary on contexterrior.
still, they ve found the time to crank out these new elegant-yet-sleazy cuts, and while vol. 1 was purely instrumental, for vol. 2 they ve roped in some guest vocalists. first up is their collab with comrades dop (circus company, eklo, supplement facts). >kilimanjaro< features d.i.y.s tribal bounce combined with dops seedy, trent reznor-on-opiates vocal delivery.

(dumb irresponsible youth), their new house-oriented project. sierra sam (toysforboys, einmaleins, trapez) and marcus vector (toysforboys, nomor, playground) recently released their first joint effort for contexterrior. working together once again, this time around theyve put aside their usual dark techno inclinations, opting instead for uninhibited house led by analog percussion sounds. drumroll, please… >pimp my saw< is a frenzy layers and layers of toms, kicks, steeldrums and clicks. >screw it up< is a more melodic affair, with the classic build-up and tension that defines classic house material, plus a hint of latino finesse. on the flip, >hammer of love< closes things out with a shuffly balance between the organic and the artificial, with looming atmospheric ambience to set a darker tone. these three tracks are the perfect tools to use where the sun dont shine.
