only few artists have managed to develop their own distinct style to such perfection as abe, while remaining almost entirely unknown to the public ear. he dwells in minimal music, abstract structure and well-crafted melancholia. -peasants sought instead- itself is heavily influenced by modern classical music, modal jazz and world music and is at times demanding, while remaining slightly subdued. style-wise it can be seen as ambient, though abe doesn t feel completely at home in this genre, because of its emphasis on atmosphere rather than structure. recorded at abe s home in rotterdam, it is his strongest work to date and already highly appreciated by some of the most exquisit selectors around.

07042016 (live at st.paul s anglican church, athens) is the debut album of modal analysis, brought by the greek experimental band of mmmd (also known as mohammad). nikos veliotis and ilios are currently performing as the mmmd duo, with further focus on deep monolithic sounds, low frequencies, inter-modulations, dark textures, and distant folk nuances through custom made instruments (cello & electronic bass) and software. the release carries parts of the mmmd live performance at st.pauls anglican church in athens, recorded on the 7th of april 2016. the concert was hosted by fasma festival, on the opening day of its 2016 edition.

the second release for danny wards (dubble d/moodymanc) well cut records features an ep from balaphonic. a project which fuses organic live instrumentation and musicianship with deep and modal dancefloor sensibilities. adventures in lagos is a long evolving and deep building hypnotic afro groove featuring spoken word samples of fela kuti and street sounds taken from 1970s lagos.

the seventh modal analysis release comes from athenian producer and dj, anfs. following his remix for kondaktors signal 1, anfs returns to the label with his debut release, ground, a four track ep which consists of original material. borrowing sounds from early twentieth century folk greek culture, the ep is dominated by a rhythmic canibalistic spirit and a noisy distorted cue. ground 1 functions as an introduction, or rather ones initiation to the mystic rituals that prevail. the artist uses drones and distorted textures which increase in ground 2 and are backed up by drums that beat in a hard-and-slow ethnic tonality. ground 3 reveals a paroxysm of emotions which comes as a result from the combination of basslines and vocals that create a complex and twisted vortex. the trip ends with ground 4, a more stripped down monotonic ensemble that serves as an epilogue and a catharsis.

once again trtlnck bring their functional copenhagen sound with a fifth v/a release consisting of two tracks by resonant pole on the a-side, delivering his fast-paced and raw scandinavian style with “this part of town” and “first high”. modah takes over the b-side opening with “forgot my screw, diver needed”, a razor sharp dj-tool, and riesenfeld closing this v/a installment with a melancholic and beautiful track called “for the future”.

the copenhagen based label trtlnck delivers fast paced and functional techno on their fourth v/a vinyl installment. riesenfeld opens the record with ‘auto self’ and ‘white weather’, two groove heavy tracks, while resonant pole takes over the flip-side with ‘eroticism moves’, a more trancelike take on contemporary techno, followed up by modah closing the record with ‘lasue’, a suitable tool for almost any selection. all four tracks are heavily dance floor orientated and bring the sound of the copenhagen club scene on to vinyl.

orbis x is a sublabel of orbis records and will be mainly focusing on softer yet often usable as dj material for the broader mass interested in electronic music. this sublabel is an extension of orbis records softer, more melodical and experimental side. music will be ranging from house, dub, chicago over melodic acid and even breaks. not any track makes it to this sublabel if it ca’t stand on its own and stand the test of time!
