sunlight by herbie hancockis a 1978 jazz-funk, fusion album. it features hancock’s vocals through a vocoder as well as performances by drummer tony williams and bassist jaco pastorius. this was when hancock began heading towards a more mainstream smooth jazz/r&b fusion, similar to fellow jazz-fusion pianist patrice rushen. the album produced a hit-single entitled “i thought it was you”. as a whole the album tends to lay more toward funk than a jazz record, and is reminiscent of much of the electro-funk of the time. this release marks the beginning of the 80s electro-era style that was more refined in herbie’s later albums such as “future shock” and “sound-system”. pressing on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

mike clark, detroit beatdown founder and former ur operative agent x, gives some love to weather report s wonderful river people. there are two versions on this translucent green 12inch. the beatdown rework and the house mix. both are stone-cold bombs. jaco pastorius awesome bass line and joe zawinul s cascading synths primed for the dance floor. mike has done an amazing job on a modern jazz classic. don t sleep on this. vinyl only. limited to 500.

entertainment is a duo. im a cliché is proud to release their very first e.p on september 29th. juan de guillebon is the bass player. he studied a lot jaco pastorius, but decided not to spend the rest of his life playing in jazz rock combos. you can easily guess his attraction to no wave bands (suicide or james chance), krautrock (his faves are cluster), or ebm and early electro (daf). alongside, hes part of the ectoplasmic band, performing as backing band for tigersushis boss joakim. antoine montgaudon plays the guitar, and we bet he would have fit perfectly in any brian enos late 70s recording. he builds endless psychedelic atmospheres with feedbacks, loops and fxs. all this only with his guitar. hes also part of my sister klaus, a project released on tigersushi (again).
