lab personnel is a very intriguing collaboration between a number of producers hailing from croatia. members include zarkoff (member of sumerian fleet), neon lies, ikonal many more (total eight members). the tracks were recorded during synth lab 4 improvisational sessions in pisak in 2017. the album is a dense and stormy affair overall with mesmerizing and dark synths. the styles presented drift between genres including acid techno, electro, ebm, and other hybrids. all instrumental, the lp is a brooding journey into diverse techno soundscapes with eight strong tracks that will not disappoint.

hybrid techno tracks full of tension on time to express number 30, presented by label founder peter van hoesen. the belgian producer takes up the opportunity to expand upon his previous work on the coast to coast ep. no longer exclusively restricted to straight 4/4 rhythms, van hoesen s music investigates hybrid, broken grooves infused with a clear sense of spatial sonic awareness. this is made clear with the first two tracks, towards manifestation and fox tactics. on the second half of the ep van hoesen launches two solid techno cuts, shifting from dense bassline work (concrete varition) to percussive, shuffling grooves (fox tactics). as with all previous time to express outings a specific i ching hexagram was chosen to accompany this release. hexagram #10 ( treading upon the tail of the tiger ) refers to advancement with care and ways of respectful progress. the title of the ep is a direct reference to the first line of this intriguing hexagram. nine at the beginning will be released on vinyl and digital formats on october 23rd 2017. a specially designed t-shirt will be made available at the same time, interpreting hexagram #10 through its design.

the founders of future nuggets are delivering their debut full lp as delusion men, marking the peak of almost a decade long conspiracy. ion d (utopus) and camil dumitrescu (aka the holy fix) have amassed on this album tracks and bits spreading over many years, raw gems and shiny nuggets resulted from intensive electronica fusions. ion d needs no introduction, contriving as a producer projects like steaua de mare and raze de soare, his oriental knowledge is in full presence on this lp, starting with the eponymous track -stuck on the border-. camil dumitrescu s fresh project the holy fix is already making waves, consacrating him as dub and -technodelia- expert. after the smash ep of delusion men in collaboration with khidja (on p-balans sub-label), this lp comes as another irrefutable proof of bucharest s already mature -partially under the radar- scene of electronic psychedelic hybrids, fittingly represented by future nuggets and p-balans. no fillers just killers, not to be missed!

roman producer (and a force behind minimalrome label) valerio lombardozzi known as heinrich dressel returns to barba with a second release for our label, titled -the styx swamp-. heinrich has a unique way of combining classic techno and electro sounds with elements from the beloved drexcyan universe and john carpenter leitmotifs, and making them come together in a manner that both moves your body and pushes your mind beyond the point of awareness. as with the previous record, -lurking underwater-, here he pulls off the move with the same efficiency and without sounding like he s repeating himself. -gray slope-, -sailing the nether waterways- and -the styx swamp- are all quite moody and deep, rich with sound and thick with vibe. however, the tracks feel equally at home in 4 am techno situation and a heady afterhours affair. he truly is a master of crafting hybrids whose influences get so flawlessly embedded that it s hard to point them out. if that s not enough, -the styx swamp- got a treatment by nigel rogers aka perseus traxx, a multi-faceted producer and a mighty live act performer. nigel stayed respectful to the original but made the original s bouncy groove into something more direct and reduced, while retaining the same feel conditioned by lead synth s hypnotic quality. we re known to give a little bit of extra love to our releases so (as all before) this one s pressed onto a heavy duty 180 gram vinyl and beautifully packaged in an original artwork by emaemaema.

suns of dub is a performing ensemble and production team, creating unique sound experiences that blend live instruments and dub influenced genres. their hybrid reggae sound includes live melodica, steel pan, nyabinghi drums, live dub and dj effects. the group has been working and releasing music together since 2010.

fragil musique reaches the 20th release mark, and offers us a very special debut ep from a newcomer to watch. vidock lands on the label with an unusual three tracker, oscillating between intense breakbeat excursions and moody techno hybrids. -dub attack- is the main club weapon here. cycling around the drum loop, pads and samples build up to heavy tension moments, then fade away to fully unleash the force of the stripped down broken kick-bass groove. the pressure is strong and never stops rising, gradually bringing the dancer to a manic arms-shaking state, while sporadic laser synth shots and percussion hints sprinkle the track, smartly shaping its three-dimensional aspect. on the b side, dance music ufo - metamorph - is an epic journey through what feels like unexplored fringes of sample driven emotional dance music. movie-esque haunting voices and disturbing sirens set the vibe, inviting one to drift along this dark and coloured ride. fellow nantes native simo cell goes trippy on the remix, taking apart the most heady bits of the original and extending them into a deep and breaky piece.

keeping up their regular and on point release schedule, french outlet d3 elements now looks to a dj and producer from the southside of chicago. ellery cowles has been making unique house sounds since the mid 1990s as well as being a respected dj who is revered across the states. his music has come solo as well as in collaboration with the legendary likes of ron maney, roy davis jr and brian harden and cowles has released on labels like dafunk, hybrid and hizou deep rooted music.

over the past several years, j(ay).a.d has released several eps touching on footwork, dubstep, grime and dancehall, approaching dance music with a wide open lens that tends to blur accepted genre lines. a bjork co-sign earlier last year jettisoned the amsterdam-based artist into the popular consciousness. raised in suriname, j(ay).a.d is the consummate dance music outsider and despite living in amsterdam, his music hardly ever fits in with the citys house and techno hegemony. the ogri ai ep is very much a blueprint record, simultaneously paranoid and dark, its seeped in industrial dread and natural beauty. and while many of j(ay).a.ds contemporaries attempt to create more alien sounding music at the expense of a human element, the ogri ai ep has been a overlooked milestone for the hybrid footwork & grime realm, and its now back on re-stock.

in 1985 severed heads were asked to release a retrospective, so they dragged out bits lying around. the compilation was titled “clifford darling please don’t live in the past”, spread out into a montage over four sides of vinyl. this compilation includes live recordings, raw demos, unreleased studio recordings and solo pieces from each member of the band during from the first five years. the results are a striking hybrid of the avant-garde industrial and pop.

after more than three years of silence as a producer, efdemin a.k.a phillip sollmann returns with a striking hybrid concept that merges the album format with the -continuous dj mix- format, presenting completely new material in a seamless manner. this cd-mix, named na•f, officially reinstates his label of the same name and is a sprawling tour of inner space featuring 19 distinct tracks from fellow producers (e.g. margaret dygas, steve bicknell, jeroen search, pom pom, marco shuttle or gunnar haslam) along with an additional ten that feature efdemin himself (either as soloist or collaborator). the release condenses his decade-long dj-ing journey and evolution as a producer into a single potent elixir of contemporary techno. owing to his additional projects, such as collaborating with pan artist konrad sprenger on a modular organ system to be installed in museums, or scoring for a neue musik ensemble, the berlin-based efdemin is known as hiker between the worlds . his regular stints at berghain or panoramabar, his partnership with established labels (e.g. ostgut ton, dial, sushitech) and the leadership of his own na•f imprint all demonstrate that since more than a decade.
