the latest gigolo release is one for the summer! aptly titled hot it comes courtesy of ivano coppola and christian prommer, the former being one of italia s most respected dj s and the latter being, amongst other things, one of the main collaborators for hells critically acclaimed album teufelswerk. taking a sample from willie ninjas classic record hot and building a track around the chords and the vocal leads us to our starting point ivano coppola plastic mix!
ivano coppola has been the resident dj at milan s plastic club since 1992, so it is fair to say that he knows what works on a dance floor, or, to use a popular phrase, what is hot and what is not. it is with this historical knowledge that we find the genesis of our track. i found it necessary to go back in the past, to start producing once again in a 90 style - using samples. the next step was to come back into the future and reach out to christian prommer, highly respected by many including ivan i consider (christian prommer) one of the best producers of the moment! he loved the idea, the remix was huge, and so we decided to co-produce the record. simple!!!
but, for christian this was more then a remix, hence the co-production credit! i liked the idea of translating an early 90 s house-music-sample in to a sample-style-percussive-techno-tune. lots of live played drums and percussion in this one, of course. i only later learned that the sample we used is from one of my house music heroes, maws louie vega. naturally the record found its way into the hands of gigolo in the best way possible, and in the tradition of such a great record label – i played it at the gigolo night in munich and hell came to me dancing and took the tune into his heart.

rene pawlowitz aka shed returns to ostgut ton under the new moniker the traveller and delivers the first 12 inch of this new project. under his new guise pawlowitz picks up at his roots and delivers a deep techno record made for the floor. the beats on the a-side >a 100< are fierce, the melodic synth line lifts you up while everything around appears to be burning down. the experimental first track on the b-side >ber< meanders without beats and full of broken chords around that moment of ecstasy without ever reaching a break. on the b-sides second track >bypass< rene says hello to the techno-heroes, rolls out a red carpet and shows them what he has learned. pack your bags and head for the dancefloors.

who the hell are bleep district i hear you ask? well for those of you who havent heard their awsome debut on replay records they are matt powell a founding dj of the legendary quadrant soundsystem and the inappropriately nicknamed matt rhythm who rumour has it spends his spare time pressing random buttons as one half of deep house anti-heroes rhythm plate. coming straight out of leftfield, bleep district have exploded onto the deep house scene like a musical gas leak. their quirky, chunky, dancefloor orientated beats causing serious damage on dancefloors and working mens clubs around the counrty. these two devout christians and still practising altar boys have decided to continue the religious theme of the bleep of faith ep on the highly respected winding road and titled their debut for ornate music… end days ep. revelations (rapture rub) kicks of the ep with a clearly deluded shaun ryderesque gentleman professing his faith over a big moody analogue bass and detroit style stabs on a track that would make the staunchest non believers begging for absolution! and on revelations (pillar of salt dub) they take things nice and deep for those more reflective moments in the evening.

already supported by the bloody bleetroots, will bailey, drop the lime, congorock ... hell yeah starts a new re-issue/remix series called confuzed90s. after the huge critical success of confuzed disco (a retrospective of cult label italian records), label a&r marco peedoo gallerani keep on fumbling into obscure & cheesy italian label catalogues in order to deliver the best re-issues and remixes.: expect weird spaghetti house, nu-disco re-interpretations, nu rave modified anthems and all in between. first chapter is all about sicilian heroes blatta & inesha who tweak and knob 90s techno icon ramirez music as they never have done before: killer freshness with humour. if you remember ramirez, the music, the mad shows you know that all his big tracks and gimmicks are here and those new remixes are set to become a steady 12inch of your record bag for the next months to come. very early support comes from the bloody beetroots, lee mortimer, will bailey ...
