serotonin records is the original new york city electro-revival imprint still pumping out funk for you today. synapse is the project of serotonin records founders john selway and jason “bpmf” szostek. besides releases on their own label, their tracks and remixes have made their way to interdimensional transmissions, electrocord, i220, studio !k7 and instinct/radical ambient. dedicated to their unique future funk sound of electro, their tracks define what serotonin is all about. synapse “scientism ep” is an overview of the last 20 years of regress in modern culture. the erosion of democratic values, abuse of science, distortion and manipulation of facts and deliberate seeds of discord sown by the powerful to create schism in the fabric of society, enabling the few to exercise control over the many. all that and funk… good old american electronic new york city funk.

in 1996 serotonin label heads selway and szostek went to moscow to perform at the invitation of &#1055,&#1058,&#1070,&#1063, magazine. synapse performed at the -waterclub- and met the legendary dj compass vrubell. they went to his -studio- where he had perfected the art of making entire tracks out patterns on the yamaha dx-5. szostek brought a dat of these jams back to nyc and schmer-003 dj rx-5 -a taste for crap- was released as a small run white label in 97. the run sold out and disappeared to be forgotten forever... until 2016 szostek casually mentions its existence to techno uber-nerd nina kraviz who just had to have it for her -fabric 91- cd. so dj rx-5 was back from the ash heap of history and schmer got a new release from him on schmer07. then schmer got the word out far and wide that they d like a remix ep for two of the originals: compass provided stems because like a miracle he still had the patterns after 20 years. heeding the call were pointsman, tripmastaz, steve stoll and schmer s own bpmf. so this is what you get: -a taste for remix-. it will leave your lips wanting more, for sure!

ltd new years deal - 50 % deal - in 1999, serotonin records released their final output, which happened to be the very first official release by fischerspooner, before they moved on to great international acclaim. serotonin was their introduction into the dance music world. one might think that the label would have grown only larger and more successful from this particular high point in its history - but life is uncertain and circumstances unforeseeable. label founders john selway and jason szostek became drawn away in different directions and the label ceased. recently however, they began to discuss bringing back the imprint, re-releasing or remixing old material, digging up their own unreleased productions and producing new material bridging the gap between their early styles and what they create individually now. they also began to look around for new artists that complimented the amorphous serotonin sound

here is the debut release from the new label losers with attitude, a four track compilation we have nothing left to lose-that demonstrates the range of sounds you can expect from us in coming releases. the label is the brain child of aleksey ageyev, a successful la based film and tv producer in who was born in moscow before moving to nyc at age of 16. he has teamed up with his old friend jason szostek of serotonin/schmer records to explore the electronic sounds that emanate from the dmz between house and techno. alexi delano needs no introduction as part of the swedish techno mafia that took over new york techno scene in the 90s delano has been pumping out tracks that have keep dancefloors moving world wide. delano brings his awesome sense of groove to the opening track a.l.n. mike bryant is a well known dj in the new york city underground since he came from the midwest in the mid 90s. he s the label head for intrinsic design. with his a new low moniker he sets out on a dark and soulful journey in sound. lwa labelhead and prototype 909 member jason bpmf szoste s starts side b with a sprawling chill soundscape sunrise on mars from his abide the glide series of digital releases. legendary russian electronic music pioneer anton kubikov is famous for his acid adventures in scsi 9, his label pro-tez records and randomart store in prague. here he has given us a moody acid groove named we have a bridge to close out the compilation.
