max mcferren checks in for the third time (but first under his given name) on 1080p, taking risks and hittin’ on life over four tracks of weirded-out acid and funk-tinged elations on the “sipps” 12”. created in a time of complete uncertainty about the future in nyc’s chinatown, mcferren explores the purity of the break and acid ecologies, utilizing a “take me to your dealer” type of alien funk vocabulary in order to explore and push his own voice into a stranger place.

having previously lent her quirky voice to the london based cosmic jazz collective nostalgia 77 and renowned german beatmaker dexter, josa peit settled into the lab and developed an intriguing musical sphere of her own. on her debut ep constellation, josa peit has crafted her own brand of soul miniatures, emerging under influences of house, disco, krautrock, psych, and hip hop.

as earlier compilations of danza meccanica have taught us, italy gave birth to a disproportionate number of synth-pop, new wave and electronic acts in the 80s. mannequin goes deeper into the italian new wave archelogical research with a killer 10 tracks selection of carmody. picking their name from a science fiction novel titled dimension of miracles by robert sheckley, carmody were coming from torino, as their pairs monuments and chromagain. started as a duo (alberto ramella and andrea lesmo) and later a trio with max casacci joining in as a guitar player, carmody recorded from 1981 to 1985 and issued three incredibly rare demo tapes. sleep on mirrors compiles the best tracks from those tapes, bringing you one of the most peculiar 80s minimal synth music coming out of italy

max guld was a post-punk musician from glostrup, denmark one of the western suburbs of copenhagen. in 1983 he formed a band called den forspildte elite with a friend from high school taking inspiration from experimental art punks the residents. from the beginning of 1984 to the beginning of 1985, he recorded a solo album in his 30 square meter apartment. the result was a 40 minute cassette titled for enden af corridoren released in 1985 on hub records that was limited to 100 copies.

active for over 25 years, max durante is a legendary figure in the italian techno scene. an early 90s innovator in combining the sounds of techno, acid and industrial with his old school project on the legendary italian label acv/hot trax. his project automatic sound unlimited with darchangelo of rephlex records fame was ahead of the game back then. so like glove fits hand. max fits perfectly on sonic groove with a cutting edge , menacing time bomb of an ep. sharp as a razor, hard as steel this is seriously powerful stuff for those that like there techno uncompromised.

valleys, ravines, crags, inaccessible mountain peaks, abyss. since times immemorial, stark mountain landscape has always been humankinds inspiration and a constant reference point for many generations of exploratory artists. ridges is a result of a creative encounter between veteran of improvised avant-electronics max loderbauer (among others, co-creator of sun electric, member of moritz von oswald trio, and frequent collaborator of ricardo villalobos) and spiritus movens of warsaw-based label recognition jacek sienkiewicz.

the trained pianist max loderbauer, together with ricardo villalobos, has just breezily launched the jazz sanctuary of the munich-based ecm records into the ether as -re: ecm-. on the new adventure he now logically again finds himself working with sanctuaries. for the tool he uses for creating worlds is the finest modular synthesizer in the world, the buchla 200e

automat and max loderbauer open proceedings on the new selekt label quite masterfully with an auspicious 4 track ep - verstärker / hall / kompressor / echo. how did this come about? automat, busy recording their second album, came across max loderbauer in the neighbouring studio. they got along swimmingly and started working together straight away. everything played live, no overdubs as automats bass player georg zeitblom confirms - first take, no shake. the studio was stripped down to basics. no computers though: a tape machine, guitar amplifier, analogue eqs, rehearsal space: re-rewind, the crowd say bo selekter!

pablo and shoey return just in time for festival season with 4 new bits for the front of your box. e-man groove is a massive disco-rock jam that could have been sprung from the minds of dem idjut boys, with sympathy for the devil style percussion and wild guitar riffing driving the whole thing. blazing sunshine, meanwhile, is a funky, hammond organ led version of let the sunshine in, a guaranteed hands in the air moment when dropped at the right time. disco treat is more of a modern floor-burner, closer to straight production edit with a bouncing bassline and all manner of whacked out disco sounds in the mix, not to mention breakdowns for days. rounding off the package is some classic funky soul breaks - the lads tear a chunk off bettye lavettes soul tambourine to make play it, break it on down! as sampled on stezos golden era hip hop rocker to the max.

what do people like balihus daniel wang and royksopp have in common? they write nice things like this about our (not so) new talent kid on the block. polosh superproducer maximilian skiba! music from a very good young polish producer, warm chords, funky melodies, think bass and guitars by chic meeting a string section by beethoven, with a touch of italo-disco and almost flamenco-like soul daniel wang he produces very nice italo disco tracks, im a fan royksopp. shanghouse is an instant hit. i would say instant classic if this wasnt so daft and meaningless. if you just heard it 5 times and feel the need to put it on another time. thats shanghouse by max skiba. then theres a great remix by victor rosado and a great slightly diverse prins thomas edit of korsakot another track.

pvs is finally ready with the new release on his own label .the ep is composed of three tracks. the original version signed by pvs (h.omevvork label owner / m_rec ltd / key vinyl) is a overwhelming broken-beat techno. he remixes are signed by max_m (m_rec ltd label owner) and the spanish talent kwartz (polegroup).

funk you quickly established itself through the italian scene, since it formed as a djs and party promoters collective, as one of the biggest techno parties in the country. funk you is now coming out with a limited series of vinyls. the first wax -the continuous body - is an outstanding work from oniks, raised in milano and residing now in the well famous dude club, with three originals tracks and one remix from max m, the label manager of m rec ltd. the tracks draw upon ideas from various points, forms and transform it on a physical object.

if youre going to launch a label, it pays to hit the ground running with your first release. thats exactly what the people behind falstaff have done with this impressive debut. it features tracks from longtime pals max d and hashman deejay. the formers track, shoegaze, continues the washington d.c producers recent trend of delivering tracks that defy easy categorization. this one is a blend of ghetto-tech, deep house and dreamy chords, with cut-up samples of various descriptions riding an urgent groove. hashman deejays samba is a little more orthodox, sitting somewhere between deep detroit techno and humid samba house. its a thing of rare beauty.

listen to this if you like: anything that weve put out last year, wrapped together in a lovely double pack of a 12inch and 10inch. the roundup part 1 is the first part of an annual recurring event: the big heist family remix ep, where all artist names get put in a big bowl, and by luck of the draw, find themselves remixing (and remixed by) another heist artist. weve got max graef remixing dam swindle and turning the break up into a full on graef-affair.
