the result of nine months locked up with musicians stephane fedele (bass), thomas stadnicki (guitars), lukas melville (drums) and a series of live shows in belgium, second album ‘drape’ fuses the electronic with an occasionally heavy rock feel and outstanding lyrics, all topped off with a french-belgian-tinged vocal and lyrical topicality. music-wise it spans a breadth of influences from the interzone between post-punk, indie pop, psych & noise while geoffroy mugwump lays down conscious, parlando-style, lyrics over nine songs ‘soundtracking our torments in the age of laissez-faire and aestheticisation’.

la awanto 3 and meditation tunnel appear on the latest blitz, dj tennis’ ongoing, limited, vinyl-only series. these colourful records sometimes pop-up around life and death showcases, often featuring non-standard cuts + off-kilter attitudes. dekmantel affiliate, awanto 3 offers-up an infectious after-party gem, with “the phone we call it.” slow-burning cosmic keyboards pair with elements of detroit techno and a subtle wink to rdj’s masterstroke, xtal. the flip contains a killer from meditation tunnel, the newly-birthed dance project from the rapture’s luke jenner. la la la is a blitz future-classic. syncopated bass guitar, crusty synthetic strings and the purest of vocal performances - blitz #2 is one to remember.

the fifth release on the animals dancing label is a special one. sourced from recordings of a live set from 2014, animals dancing famiglia jonny nash & suzanne kraft (diego herrera) originally created these tracks in l.a. ahead of a series of live performances together. after some finishing touches made in jonnys studio in bali in 2016, animals dancing are very excited to finally launch these two to the club. za talent will see you now.

the „here & now ep” is the second instalment of a three-ep-series coming up in 2018. christophe salin is taking us on his musical journey and paves the way for cooperation with future artists on his very own imprint „salin records” that he runs with his wife daria salin as a platform for electronic music and art.

no intro needed as „dreams sometimes come true” instantly takes us on the groove line. „astra perle” keeps the groove alive with some heavy jazz samples. you maybe remember sitting in your first car (christophe’s first car was named „purple pearl” and was an „opel astra “) and just cruising thru the city. imagine to be suddenly overwhelmed by a creative hole, „ohh no, not you “… turn over to „can you pay my bills” the journey continues with more jazzy vibes to end up with a downtempo lounge-dub-work which is indeed „different but sweet“.

after the highly successful first volume in the stag-o-lee dj set series we present volume 2. again an 80 minute set - this time by stuttgart based dj joe whirlypop. joe is a jack of all trades, someone who can make a wedding crowd dance, is well versed in new wave and punk and everything in between. but his biggest love is the 50’s and early 60’s. he is playing all over stuttgart for years, but these two discs reflect his monthly shake your bones residency at stuttgarts famous goldmarks club. expect all kinds of blues - from jump to rhythm & to raw electric.

in the 1990s the collaboration between influential german artists klaus schulze and pete namlook led to the famous the dark side of the moog series. it’s an hour-long journey into space territory with a mixture of modern and classic electronic music. droning sounds flying all around, before the different parts are kicking in. the futuristic music marked them down as true innovators and it’s another great trip through their musical world. pressing on audiophile 180 gram vinyl, with the front covers of volume 1 to volume 4 form one image together.

electronic music label sheik n beik announces its new release snbv013, an ep called daisy cutter by jem. this ep is the third release in their series aimed at celebrating the diversity and history of new york and its boroughs. as sheik n beik s hometown and source of constant inspiration, the label focuses on spotlighting and paying homage to the five boroughs of new york including manhattan, queens, brooklyn, staten island and the bronx. each borough s flag is given a modern and colorful twist via the cover art and design of each outer jacket. the first release in the series, manhattan, featured local nyc hero and co-founder of voodoo down records n conduit, and the second, kathisma resident mr. dello s vaadhoo ep. the new ep from jem, dedicated to the bronx, opens up with title track daisy cutter, which directly sets the tone of the release with a straightforward, dynamic techno, elevated by an eerie, dark atmosphere. it goes on with neb, a downtempo second track with a lighter tone that progressively gets back to the initial mysterious mood and capriciously brightens it with warmer back-and-forth sounds. next on the 12- is semiotic, a third track structured by a clever balance of deconstructed rhythms and sparse acid and synth melodies in the continuity of the lighter, warmer mood previously built up. the ep ends with temple, with a more aggressive accent animated by several lighter melodic layers and a stifled background bass.

some used to think that here s a guy who s just too cute to be underground, but sebastien bouchet proved them all wrong - with releases like the trippy -fallen angel- ep (kompakt 210) or his gutsy contribution to kompakt s speicher series (kompakt extra 77). he also had a spectacular appearance on you and your hippie friends inaugurating release -a very nice combinado volume uno- (yayhf 01) with the tune -captain drag- - which went on to be played around the world, from clubs and festivals to chanel fashion runways. now, sebastien returns with coyote cry, his first full-blown ep for the hippie dance sister label: eclectic and unique, this five tracker reflects different sides and moods in his work, but always takes the momentum center stage - from the guitar-infused vocal shaker jambe de bois to the heavy-duty bass of jatagarazi or the melancholic drive of the glistening title cut.

vol. 5 in the paris edits series, and two more classics get the parisian overhaul... as with all young pulse productions you always get a well crafted product and this release is no exception.

rebirth return for the second in their ltd series. argy opens up the e.p. with an atmospheric arp laden stomper enriched by the magical vocals of blue jay. acid pauli then take on remixing modular projects leaving, coupling glitchy vocal loops and pulsating synths together with a hypnotic groove to create a trippy minimal roller. closing out the e.p. tiger & woods add their trademark touch to lele sacchis dreaming wont do, focusing the track around the exuberant piano melodies whilst manipulating the vocal sample into a percussive snare element to give a distinctive feel to the remix. killer work as always from the rebirth crew.

since 2011, smoke machine have been running a successful and well-established podcast series. now, after 8 years, they have ventured into the offline realm and will release their first ep. the record features tracks by blind observatory, dorisburg and agnois. these artists have regularly played smoke machine parties and their larger event organik festival and are in line with the smoke machine sound.

180g lp (vinyl only release) in 1975, the prolific and multi-talented brazilian comedians chico anysio and arnaud rodrigues recorded an album based on the protagonist of one of their most celebrated tv series. this soundtrack/musical re-imagining of the series combines jazz-funk with samba soul and mpb, with the help of cult brazilian trio azymuth.

limited repress. for the last 20 and something years, matt thibideau has been involved in making electronic music. in the mid 90s he dove into making ambient and techno music after experiencing some of canadas underground parties. this lead to several releases on blue recordings with matts moniker at the time - >altitude<. under this alias he produced several dub techno classics, but he stopped using it about 15 years ago to work with new german labels. we are happy that after making a comeback on labels like assemble music or helena, matt decided to open the new color series on vade mecum, which focuses on 10inch dub techno styled vinyl.

bugs is aus label owner will sauls first solo ep in over 4 years and follows his inaugural release on new aus compilation series, inside out. heres will on the a side. bugs is inspired as much by dancing at plastic people/co-op to the bugz in the attic as is it is by carl craigs innerzone orchestra track bugs in the bass bin. hopefully i bring my own twist to these key influences. the map room tumbles with big, swinging drums as a fervid sense of tension burns throughout before matt karmill takes bugs off on a linear dubbed out excursion to complete the package.

a project 18 months in the making, marcel fengler presents a imf10, a three part compilation series detailing the past, present and future of his label index marcel fengler. part 2 focuses on the warmer and more soulful side of imf and features an outstanding array of artists making their debut for the label, all of which have a strong personal meaning to fengler. there’s fjaak, the exciting berlin trio he admires for their authentic identity and honest sound, a special shed remix of the enigmatic vril whose timeless productions continue to strike a chord with him, good friend eric cloutier who he has long wanted to get involved in imf and of course long-time label champion thomas hessler. viennas arthur robert a new face marcel discovered after he sent him tracks over facebook contributes a beautiful shimmering work to the compilation. highlighting this section of the project is the first azur track marcels new side project. he explains: ive always liked to be diverse with my music, but i also do’t want to confuse people. this is the reason why i decided to give my melodic side its own identity. my music under the marcel fengler name will go back to its roots and be more raw and rough in production terms. the final digital package will be complemented by a dj mix from thomas hessler comprised of tracks from imf10. stay tuned for parts 3 to follow, which includes originals and remixes by marcel fengler, sebastian kramer (aka redshape), luke slater, peter van hoesen and more.

naif 009 is the second in a series of five eps that are released around the release of the dj-mix-cd also named naif which has its release in april 2018 the second strike comes with two superstrong techno tracks: lean forward is a contribution by nihad tule that wil burn the dancefloors. followed by not now, not yet, a scratchy track from the hands of one half of cassegrain: rhyw. side b heads into trippy territories with a heady, sparse but seductive groove by marco shuttle followed by a track from efdemin in a collaboration with his close friend and fellow konrad sprenger (pan) after more then three years of silence as a producer, efdemin a.k.a phillip sollmann returns with a striking hybrid concept that merges the album format with the continuous dj mix format, presenting completely new material in a seamless manner. the cd-mix, named naïf, officially reinstates his label of the same name and is a sprawling tour of inner space featuring 19 distinct tracks from fellow producers along with an additional ten that feature efdemin himself (either as soloist or collaborator). the release condenses his decade-long dj-ing journey and evolution as a producer into a single potent elixir of contemporary techno. naif consists of completely unreleased material from both himself and valued collaborators, all of which will eventually manifest as ep releases: five on his own naif label and two more on curle.
