GETTING TIME
12 Inch
26.07.07
rmxs by eric sneo & space djz , abstract recs speed up their release-pipelines and the result is >getting time< by robert natus, a monster tune featuring fat synths, snapping basslines and everything a bangin record needs. an exclusive remix package has been also included, more precisely mixes by the london based space djz and palazzo hero eric sneo. while erics mix is a more techno oriented interpretation, jamie bissmire and ben long strike back with a jackin chicago influenced version. damn nice package. but wait, there is another track on top by mr. robert natus called >eye of the hurricane<, and be sure it sounds like the name suggests

REMEMBER THIS
12 Inch
25.07.07
possibly nightshifts strongest ep to date. a slammin release from style of eye with remixes by hipp e & troydon. the original is a bass heavy electro groove with tweaked out synths and a male reggae vocal. already getting big dancefloor response from a lot of the key players. troydon trips things out even more on his mix, shuffling beats with his new minimal sound, along the lines of his phono shuffle release. hipp e is on fire again! one his strongest remixes to date. a deep chugger with a big vocal breakdown

BANG THE LIGHTS EP
12 Inch
23.07.07
jt donaldson follows up 2 outstanding eps for hudd traxx bringing his untitled orchestra partner cpen with him appearing under a new guise. the title track lives up to its name as it d bang the lights of any club! jt & cpen work out smooth beats, techy keys and melodic strings with a killer bass to make this track the pick of the ep. flip for the b side and jts signature deepness shines through starting with intimate friends. crisp beats and crunchy hi hats accompanied by low swung piano keys will keep the heads nodding into the early hours. spaced out is a late night deep viber which rounds off this ep nicely. full marks to the slum science crew for another essential release.

dj support: karotte, ricardo villalobos, shinedoe, tobi neumann !! its only july and serafin has already finished his first release of the year. he teams up with percussionist roman bruderer from the p-train crew to embark on a rhythmic journey into the housier realms of club music. have they had enough of the streamlined, overengineered high tech sound that still dominates the landscape? we certainly do welcome the vintage house dirt that they deliver and believe that this is one of serafins best releases to date. this is music for all kinds of summer dancefloors that will open up your crowds hearts. peace

BEAT TO DEF EP
12 Inch
19.07.07
beat to def ep is the debut on tirk for nyc based dj / producers drilla and doug gomez, aka drrtyhaze. their previous release was the >voodoo ep< on acclaimed german label gomma (headman, whomadewho, tomboy etc). the sound of the ep combines influences from drrtyhazes hometown of new york - from disco to liquid liquid-esque punk-funk to bobby o style hi-nrg. a welcome debut for drrtyhaze on tirk, the new label from the people behind classic 90s imprint nuphonic - appealing to disco purists as much as trendy art-school kids.
DRUG RELATED STORIES
12 Inch
19.07.07
the inaugural release on 7777 instantly recalls the sound of the legendary gherkin and target imprints from chicago. but rather than spawn direct imitation, a flare of detroit is gently added to the equation. an expansive remix is added on the b-side by the acid powerhouse production duo tnt (tadd mullinix and todd osborn), whose releases on their eponymous imprint have been highly sought after. a brutal working of the a-sides >drug related stories<, this epic has already been well received by the patrons of late night/early morning clubs in detroit.
CHINA GIRL
12 Inch
19.07.07
adam beyers mad eye imprint has been the quietest of his 3 in terms of its output over the last few years but it has by no means made he least impact. the 5 releases so far have had massive dj support from across the techno scene with the last release being played by a huge cross section of djs. this time adam has really turned on the style with these 2 tracks with the a side china girl being a funky killer with its grooving bassline and drum groove immediately bringing you in before the addictive wooden block melody and warped edits creating an addictive intensity that put simply - just works. hear it on a system and see the dancefloor react and youll see where were coming from
BIG BROTHER RMXS
12 Inch
19.07.07
the release of memor007 marks the return from hiatus of memory boy records and also the final chapter in the history of mark verbos >big brother< after last years minimal techno mixes on csm and the original release in the late 90s. semblance factor(john selway) provides a dark fusion of jacking old school house rhythms, modern electro and twisted effects that accentuate the paranoid lyrical content. franz & shape give us an energetic dj tool which showcases their club-friendly electro-house/ebm/italo stylistic combination. finally from mark himself, an excellent classic acid house version in the same manner as his current and seriously effective live performances using the original roland analog synths and drum machines of the era.
MERLUCHE IDEALE EP
12 Inch
18.07.07
the mojuba sublabel returns with a repress of an almost forgotten classic. we are speaking about the timeless masterpiece >merluche ideale< by rené et gaston, maybe better known as dobre & zki, jark prongo, the good men or chocolate puma. this track has been an unbeatable anthem for many djs as it combines deep melodies and and groove you cant resist. it became very sought after because kevin >master reese< saunderson included it in his fantastic x-mix for studio!k7 named >transmission from deep space radio<. listen to the beauty of it and dance your sorrows away! the b-side >pouah!< from the original release on pssst comes as a floor-dedicated edit by labelowner don williams, sounding like early carl craig is dating Âme, unbelievable that this one stayed undiscovered the last decade!
THIZZLE / CHINA GUM

its been well over a year since front rooms last offical release (look out for deadsets >keep quite< & lost property for some undercover front room action). here the label bounces back with two prime-time cuts from riva starr (aka madox), here wearing his jackin house hat, he shows why both front room & dirty bird are supporting his releases. picking up on the sound of jesse rose, switch and claude vonstroke, while getting plays by them all at the same time. look out for future releases by riva starr on front room very soon.
JUJUY / SALTA
12 Inch
17.07.07
pawel, also known for his melancholic and deeply emotional songwriter skills as turner on ladomat and mute, follows his path of minimal post-detroit influenced tracks recently heard on his dial release >ceramics<. having released 3 12inches on dial records as pawel so far, >jujuy&salta< marks a step on new ground, by starting his own label. orphanear is meant to be a open playground for both the pawel and turner releases, as well as for old and new friends, not only in the dance-spectrum. >jujuy< starts of with a slowed down, dark and bouncing synth line, and later on sound as if sähkö had moved to la and invited us all. >salta< turns up the velocity slightly and deliberately evolves into one of the sweetest and hypnotic detroit affine tracks in the recent past! played by dj koze & chloe

NIGHT EXPRESS EP
12 Inch
17.07.07
this is the first ep on flash recordings that doesnt feature label owners florian meindl and oliver koletzki. but they have made sure to look for a quality replacement. no one else than cologne-based artist daso - renowned for his previous releases on labels like mbf, session deluxe, ghostly and connaisseur - teams up with his buddy pawas to create their first release >night express< on flash. pawas has just had his first record out on adam krolls and markus müllers imprint squonk records and has been a dj for 9 years, moving from india to cologne one year ago. on the a-side daso & pawas foreshadow the summer with the track >tgv<: a beautifully deep melody that swings along a powerful loop. >ice< - the name of germanys high-speed train is clearly more electro-driven. a slightly broken beat with a thumping organic bassline pumps above an ever-changing soundscape that culminates in some euphoric high-pitched synths. never too much, this is a perfect example for elegant understatement. also on the flip side is the track >bummelzug<, which translates as >very slow train< in german. this is a dub-techno masterpiece. deep dubs and arpeggios flow over the simple beats with a great clappy snare drum. dreamy, hypnotic, melodic! flash recordings has just become fit for the summer
after the release of the second single by solee, here comes the next top tune out of the parquet recordings camp. it s dejonka, who already released on labels like klang gymnastik, hammarskjoeld, karate musik and bikini tracks with –memento-. this track is a pure high-energy dancefloor burner. the kicking beat, the funky bassline and the dirty electro sounds create a groove that nobody can resist on the floor. a true sure-shot for the peaktime! ryan davis & lanny may use the strongest elements of the original adding some minimal beats and sounds to create a new underground flavour. yassin & arne create a true minimal-techno masterpiece creating a nice bubbling synthie melody out of the original harmonies. again a great package with remixes for every flavour and occasion!
