vent moves closer to its initial tenet: the love for raw and unsullied techno. miss sunshine returns to vent and brings home two strikingly forceful tracks, with cindy adding to the arsenal with her characteristic grit, and thus the circle is complete as stripped back yield of high grade techno on all cuts.

solimano returns to his unlock recordings imprint with two mellow house cuts, featuring a pair of imaginative reinterpretations from fellow argentinean’s barem and deep mariano. originally established to promote latin american productions in 2004, unlock recordings has since hosted the likes of jorge savoretti and guti. its founder, gonzalo solimano, has proven himself time again as a label owner, dj and producer, working as a ‘mr. x’ at red bull academy for almost ten years when not performing at the likes of creamfields buenos aires, south american music conference and space world tour. ‘learjet’ is a low-slung groover complete with organic samples, bass guitar licks and a hypnotically looped vocal sample. up first on remix duties, minus regular barem subdues the raw textures of the original to generate an understated rendition, whereas get slow founder deep mariano takes it down a percussive route where an infectious rhythm is accompanied by dub inspired synths. finally, ‘calling again’ is a sensual deep house cut featuring the vocals of sophie taylor, known for her collaboration with mathias kaden, among many others.

two raw extended trips from the mind of stl in a rare foray beyond his self-run something imprint. stephan laubner applies his usual auteur principles to these groove experiments, whose sounds circle round each other cagily, rough meeting smooth, organic meeting synthetic, all combining in a propulsive form thats classic stl. shifty hats on * crank notion* provide an insistent shuffle through which nauseous pads plot a dissonant course. * neat buzzl* is a grimier excursion in the undergrowth, little creatures scurrying left and right while the kick maintains its forward stomp. join stl and assemble music in these off-map excursions and see where you emerge.

ibiza based francisco allendes makes a welcome return to desolat for his next release, a fine ep that marks something of a new direction for the man across its four great tracks. first up, 2agility queen is a raw bit of jacking house with clipped vocals offered up by dance manias dj dmc, bulky drums and classic cow bell tinkles all making for a sweaty and heavy house kicker.

toronto hustles kick their ep off with the classic house sound of in your mind . mr fingers style bassline over chunky chords and a well chosen rasta vocal sample builds an infectious house groove. just enough is perfect terrace material and will keep those early morning deep house heads happy. the raw cut brings a tougher groove to the ep, reminiscent of that roper mid 90 s us house sound from chicago.

driven by analog machines, and with the italian artist s typically dark and gritty stamp on it, the ep is a masterclass in functional, club-focused minimalism, splatterings of acid run wild atop drum-machine rhythms and coarse, swirling pads. idga s two originals, -no pictures- and -no glitter,- land backed by a remix from lucretio of the analog cops, who twists the deep textures of -no glitter- into a slamming slab of raw analog house.

dutch producer frits wentink continues to flourish in the follow up to his debut lp rarely pure never simple that was released on wolf music back in march this year. throughout releases on heist and wolf, frits has consistently drawn for his arsenal of synths, effects and drum machines and through doing so has stitched a sound characterised by raw drums, analogue bass tones and odd, lo-fi samples.

gari romalis keeps on surprising us all, with his amazing ability to produce solid chicago laced beats, full of groove and brimming with soul. so far his music has been released on some highly respected underground imprints, such as rawax, rue de plaisance and bosconi records amongst a long list of others we couldn t be happier to have gari joining us on our vinyl catalogue, plus, along side him for remix duties, esteban adame, half of the renowned los hermanos. esteban is a key member on the ur crew and has been also releasing incredible music on labels such as underground quality, or his own ican productions, which he runs in collaboration with santiago salazar.

the sophomore ep by label head n conduit. the name and inspiration for the pumps ep is derived from new yorks infamous strip club, pumps. located on the border of queens and brooklyn on the english kills canal, its one of the last holdouts of seedy and unkempt brooklyn, now that the high rises and artisanal establishments have taken over. the pumps ep consists of three original tracks and a remix that are supposed to capture whats left of this through raw analog sequences and drum programming.

anubis ep wants to bring back metaphorically that solid foundation of reality through music and feeling. the first track, anubis, like the egyptian god, provides a safe passage to another world through its dub chords, dark techno berlinish synths and hidden messages in the voices scatters on the whole track. the remix, made by canadian based artist hooll, has a more minimal and deep dub approach completing perfectly the other side of the journey. finally the last track, thoth, represents a mediating energy between dark and light with raw low ends and groovy percussions creating a wormhole like journey for the listener.

first up on hungarian hot wax we bring the heat with some choice chops and stabs in the form of uk born australian based producer beigean. stush 97 pays tribute to the uk garage sound of the 90s and the stush garage nights in particular where as blow out her back is a raw nswjack groover. both tracks make for one spicy release which is sure to score high on the scoville scale. hot stuff! mastered at alchemy london.

shortly after his first ep on dnuos ytivil, sub-division of bristol imprint livity sound, simo cell, neo-parisian and nantes native, puts his second release out on fragil musique. on this one, the young producer asserts his bass-tainted electro influences. highly skilled and very technical dj, but above all open to bridges between genres and eras, the record feels like he conceived it for his own club usage. on the a side, two subtle twin tracks, -reading rashid- and -soko ban-. cycling melodies and hypnotic pads sketch two bass outlines, as simple as effective, that seem perfectly fit for switching from a stripped down techno track to an old jungle weapon. on the flip, hit track -meteor racer- is surprising. a rawer and more stripped down electro piece that lifts the veil a bit more on the young producers talent. those four brilliantly crafted track definitely place simo cell among the french newcomers to watch closely.

marquis hawkes returns with a new ep for houndstooth, sweet. pairing up a sugary r&b sample with his signature swinging but slamming beats, opening cut when i get home is a return to the flavour of last year s summer smash cant find a reason, although this time around, it s more tracky and introspective. next up, a different facet of hawkes production talents is reprised with at the witness stand, a trippy take on classic ny freestyle. opening the b-side, title track sweet furthers hawkes trademark rough and ready house sound with distinctive vocal hooks and a hip-twitching rhythm, whilst bringing up the rear, what a relief is a raw but inescapably funky drum workout that would make the likes of traxmen & eric martin proud.

2015 repress , finale sessions presents a new series of releases from the vault on 10inch format. this first release pairs two bonafide legends in the shape of fred p and kai alce, both known for their incredibly accomplished takes on house. fred ps ram is a deep excursion into pulsing chords and delicate atmosphere, while kai alces >scene 1< is a raw, acidic affair for peak time sets - both are essential cuts.

more abstract, forward thinking house music courtesy of transatlantyk. mondo hehe is the fifth ep in a growing catalogue of the label and is one of its most adventurous offerings yet. lutto lento (real name lubomir grzelak) is an experimental musician from warsaw, poland, who specialises in dark, spooky, uneasy music that s hard to categorise. apart from running two experimental cassette only labels (sangoplasmo and dunno recordings), lutto lento records music for contemporary theatre and forward thinking european labels like ftd and where to now? he is equally inspired by avant-garde and surreal sounds from the bygone eras as well as raw house and techno music of today. his music tends to absorb the listener into a parallel, imaginary world, where sounds of a lamenting cry of a trumpet (b2) and a voice counting numbers on top of the rolling exotica style bongos (a2) are as important as jacking chicago house drums (b1) and energetic basslines (a3). from the jumping beats of the title track, to the late night deep roller casino , the * mondo hehe ep* is a superb collection of non-generic house music that sounds as good at a club, as it does at home.
