kova hits hard with its first release presenting the legendary finnish producer marko laine. raw ep is intense and ruthless three tracker introducing distorted techno bangers, defence, raw and dawn.

ashworth concentrates on the essence of solid techno in his first full ep for made of concrete. inspired by the main component of concrete itself, the material is intitled ‘portland’ and consists of no less than four original tracks. “world” makes for a gentle introduction by opening with a soft melodic lead, swiftly changing the tempo after a few measures. we’re quickly immersed in a syncopated bassline peppered with whirring synths that harmonise with full scale piano cuts, the most intriguing earworm on the entire cut. on “launch” the producer lays down hard hitting techno drums from the get-go, setting the foundation for a tense atmosphere. ashworth’s signature move quickly ensues, as he manages to inject emotion through synths and piano pads into an otherwise tense and anxiety-ridden ambiance. toning down the graveness of the previous tracks’ mood, ”mineral” reveals a surrendering groove, with a stripped down, minimalist approach, where the melody is assembled with the help of industrial elements, emotive bleeps and electric glitches. ashworth’s experimental edge is evident in the final track “scatter” - the sub bass lead creates a morose atmosphere paired with low-key synths and mechanical loops. while the first two tracks showcase ashworth’s ability to instill life into solemn techno soundscapes, the second half of the ep successfully exhibits his edgy experimental side, adding up to a heterogenous release.

good things come to those who wait. the long-anticipated land of light debut, a masterpiece of an album and pillar of the esp institute, was unveiled in late 2012, slowly followed by the gorgeous remixed ii. since then, many have longed for the missing first half of this two-part package, the universe is kind and has finally delivered remixed i. on side a, kuniyuki takahashi (mastering engineer behind seminal esp releases, and legend in his own right) took the bull by the horns remixing flares—a piece of music so entrenched in melancholy, with such fluid performance and production, its hard to imagine anyone taking it deeper—he has unarguably triumphed. on side b, esp institute veterans tambien rose to the same challenge with flares, the bavarians taking a refreshing uptempo approach, a contrast to the swells of guitar and synth. closing the release is the seahawks blissful re-imagination of bell rock outpost, slowly and steadily setting sail into a dusky vision of the scottish lighthouse after which the song was named.

italian rudeboy ivan iacobucci brings his brand of lowdown funk-influenced tech house to apollonia with this sterling three-tracker. over two decades of hard work and dedication to his craft has culminated in ivan’s untainted reputation and widespread respect within the underground from true heads like zip and, of course, the apollonia boys. his love of jazz in evident throughout this ep which is full of subtlety and depth, pulsating b-lines and smooth chords are interlaced with razor-sharp percussion and delicate keys. the first track ‘old in on’ has a laid back, though driving, groove, pushing forward with a hefty bassline that is perfectly counterbalanced by the light twinkling keys and barely-there pads. ‘scris frumos’ encapsulates more of an ominous, tribal feeling with intricate effects trickling through every pore of its deep, dark exterior. its atmospherics keep you intrigued, voices echo in the background and a few moments of softened chimes really intensify the already mysterious vibe. ‘mini ass’ channels more of that electro-funk that forms the foundation of ivan’s love for music, haywire radio pulses prance around stuttered beats, giving it a slightly cosmic feel, while pipes add a more organic nuance to the track. absolutely masterful work from ivan, and another inspired addition to the apollonia catalogue.

evod music returns with his 2nd vinyl release, with an innovative collaboration between evod and oisel, that generated an unique sound, based on hard grooves, and accurate consideration of sounds details. the fusion of artists ideas turns out to be a rare combination of sonorities, that express themselves in different forms in each track, but always render the sensations of artists and their personal vision. long reverbs, amped grooves, sharp sounds and ambient noises are the bases on which evod and oisel realized this ep.

amin peck is an electronic studio project, contaminated by the new wave from u.k. like most ’80s electronic bands. amin-peck walked a fine line between disco and minimal wave throughout the course of the early 1980s, oftentimes incorporating shameless pop melodies and avant-garde leanings. amin peck were an italian band leaded by giorgio fioroni (aka george fyron, arrangements, production, vocals) with leonard parker (arrangments, keyboards) and max marne (production). incredible but true, amin peck started as hard rock guitar band in the 70s... and becoming one of the best examples of italo disco. this limited edition it contains full-length versions plus uncut audio material (a2) tracked down during tape restoration. (the first pressing coming from 1982 was pressed only on 7inch in u.k.)

the 05 poly 800 loop ep was born in the name of the dutch-hungarian friendship when dj overdose collaborated with the budapest based record label dalmata daniel, and hungarian acts, s olbricht & 12z. a wide range of styles release from dark and mid-tempo to hard-hitting electro. just how we like it from mister model man. the ep also features two remixes both of which are complete reworks of the originals. s olbricht (farbwechsel, opal tapes, lobster theremin) transformed path to wrath into a dark abstract techno wave that manages to end up light and romantic. meanwhile 12z, the newest mascot of nicolas jaar s other people label have made an experimental symphony from be(h)anger and this pathos covers the whole essence of this ep.

albion the disco druid from sweden takes us to paradise with four cuts of obscure hard to find oddities. with releases on rotating souls ambassadors reception he drops 4 tracks aimed at the dancefloor. music you have never heard before number 3 and you know the drill by now ltd pressing.

‘prepare to commit the name najem sworb to memory’ commanded philip sherburne when he reviewed the strasbourgers previous record for resident advisor. it wasnt a hard ask, sworb makes some pretty incredible stuff. known by some for his fantastic release on the now defunct ai records and famous renow ep on clone basement series (was supported by josh wink, rod, cassy etc.), najem makes his debut here on technorama records! swaying to the uk sound, this ep clearly targets the dancefloor, delivering four genuine techno tracks structured with the trippy spacey savour that najem is known for. enjoy!

having turned out two hazy, driving eps of muffled techno for lobster theremin sublabel mörk, nthng arrives on pacific command for a rare two track exploration of gritty dutch rave and rolling trance-y techno.
on *are you here*, nthng takes an up-tempo bucket-booted drum shuffle and steadily filters its way into a skittering hat furore, all coated with epic pads and a demi-hoover rave stab. full fire-alarm business.
on the flip, there is serious influence from early trance and techno with the warehouse-crushing *in the afterglow*. constructed on the back of an early 90s hard house-esque alien synth patterns and rolling wildly into the deepest depths of the forest rave, until the long-awaited sunlight pads come bursting through the leaves.

very ltd copies ... the -danger- notion in electronic music is hard to formulate : will it comes from one s violence of his production? its improvised, spontaneous character? its oddity? there s a lot in -primitive statement- to perfectly embody this idea : 3 oversaturated cuts, untenable and undisciplined grooves that twist our body in all directions and a speeded hysteria that sweats from each side. air lqd hits like a bully and this record is a perfect fragment from his outrageousness.

nice price deal !!! manchester s techno alchemist and master of the roland tr-808, the enigmatic mr.raw, debuting mancdetroit 12” on win or loose records straight outta toronto ca! long term nightclub shaman on the northwest of england circuit, raw served time in rotterdam s early 90s gabba circles before returning back to manchester to twist brain s n bodies with his wild blend of freestyle techno. raw s witnessed trends in production go from hardware to soft and back again but he s never strayed from a solid rack mount set up based solely around the tr-808. with a few added choice fx processors raw s style is loose n live and captures a pure spirit rarely exercised by today s pacified youth. -perseus dance- sounds like the kind of shit the great ron hardy would jam on, with two copies, for hours. inflicting a sherm-stick flavored mind-blast to the floor that may have indeed caused the good man to blush, we find percolating 808 percussion woven together with a mystic, fizzing lead line and twangy analogue artifacts. darkside acid dragged wailing and whining from rusholmes drains. flip and we have -hard on-: a twisted x-rated porno horror jam. raw s rapid-fire double-speed drum loops firing away while a plethora of abhorrent vox and coital sounds converge onto the track. a total wrecking ball of filth and hellish distortion which just smolders away in the basement of some sadistic nightclub like a rotten but highly intoxicating fungus ready to switch on any passing freaks.

not much is known about manchester based producer belly, his online profile merely states live artist & vocalist from the uk. what we do know is that he releases records on his own imprint belly dance uk and that the 3rd instalment in this series (produced by la s seth cobblepot) is yet again hard hitting and dark. following on from the previous 2 records, featuring timothy j fairplay & headman respectively, he has invited 2 more underground powerhouses, brassica & thinnen, to contribute their takes on his new ep simply entitled water

over a year since their last release, birdsmakingmachine come back hitting hard with a diverse three-track ep ranging from deep to minimal house. the title track “deaf crows” intelligently layers delayed snares and elaborate hihats into subtle analogue pads and melodies, resulting in a sophisticated, yet dj-friendly composition. at over 10min long, it’s an endless rotation of industrial rawness that manages to melt into the smooth and rich textures for which the birds are known. “black midget”, on the flip, goes into darker depths, with an almost broken 4/4 beat underlying overly swinging rhythmic arrangements and hypnotic synth lines that reminisce some of the earlier bmm material. finishing off the record is the simply titled “primos”, offering a more minimalistic approach with its intricate arrangement of quirky arpeggiating melodies and playfully juggling hihats, closing off the ep in the neatest birdsmakingmachine fashion.

the state of the world e.p. brings you 4 new tracks by philippe petit. appearing develops a positive tone through layers of heavy bass and a deep 808 kick that finally blooms into a warm synth line. expanding exults happiness thanks to its multiple layered bleepiness, aiming to put the listener in a state of trance. shrinking is a hard hitting percussive affair, whose relentless beats, driving hi-hats patterns and claps take you into what can be seen as a neverending downward spiral. disappearing rings the alarm with a 132 bpm fury of pads and subtle acid, but it might already be too late... support from rodhad, len faki, johannes volk, boris, samuli kemppi, i/y and many more..

a defining moment in dance music history was the day that roy davis jr. teamed with vocalist and writer peven everett in 1997 to create this deep, ethereal, soul-music gem that helped launch an entire musical movement known affectionately as speed garage. the live garage mix is the most popular but the other mixes have grown in popularity over time. it is hard to believe that this record is almost 20 years old yet it still sounds as fresh today as it did so long ago. truly a classic that deserves to be celebrated by a new generation of dance music lovers. gabriel play!

an ep of golden bug on lddlm has been a long-time coming. paths crosses, encounters, similitudes. but it took all of us time to agree on how golden bug should fit into our mortal ethics of fragmentation: we don t want to sound like anybody else, each track on the ep should all sound different. the french but barcelona based producer played our game, anticipating his future and very diverse album with a spook yet catchy 12inch. wild boys was an instant ear-catcher, some proto funk with a very strong vocal by yan wagner that made it sound like duran duran on speedball. it was hard to take it to another level but lord tusk, one of our favourite producers of the emerging -no genre london scene beefs it up, kraftwerk way. its moody as we all are. ik voel je shows the more experimental spaced out side of golden bug, we d call it space rock if we had to. do not neglect l-horloge, it s slow, dark, menacing but it s a real time bomb if tuned correctly.
