franse are back! 002 is another single sided club stomper of drum focused techno music. distorted kick drums clash with driving hi hats and percussion elements, only subtly accompanied by distorted layers and noise. hand numbered, vinyl only and limited to 150 copies.

ibiza based francisco allendes makes a welcome return to desolat for his next release, a fine ep that marks something of a new direction for the man across its four great tracks. first up, 2agility queen is a raw bit of jacking house with clipped vocals offered up by dance manias dj dmc, bulky drums and classic cow bell tinkles all making for a sweaty and heavy house kicker.

professor inc returns to boe with a four track ep of low slung heady house vibes, thumping drums and searing soundscapes. punchy 4/4 rhythms and throaty chords of crazy grace the aside where neat percussion sections break up dubby sweeps and deft ambient samples. the rolling loose beats and haunting synths movements of undergound sit nicely inside and offer a pumping club cut. the glorious strings of life after asylum play nicely with vox synths, weird samples and some weighty low end. rounding out the ep, put up the vibe skips and swings with fizzy stabs, modulated percussions and warm grooving bass.

two and a half minutes of drums rolling under a whirlwind of cranky guitars and vocals arguing from the bottom of a 1990’s boom box, that’s 51 black super. 11 tracks and 30 minutes to cross the usa, from california with pavement and weezer to ohio with guided by voices and the raspberries. 51 black super isnt a band to get lost on its way, or in futilities. written, composed, recorded in an emergency, with short and intense sessions, the debut album by 51 black super is made in the image of its creators: spontaneous and eager to get things out there. sounds like the strokes with less cocaine and more facial hair, said a californian rock critic after listening the two first few tracks.

dutch producer frits wentink continues to flourish in the follow up to his debut lp rarely pure never simple that was released on wolf music back in march this year. throughout releases on heist and wolf, frits has consistently drawn for his arsenal of synths, effects and drum machines and through doing so has stitched a sound characterised by raw drums, analogue bass tones and odd, lo-fi samples.

delving further into what makes this reverent vancouver trio tick, 1800hs reveal a deeper, smoother side to their production that still packs a punch, whilst exploring more tender themes. twitching, rhythmic acid lines flicker over water-tight drums on *dreamer*, crystal synths rise out of the raw depths on *heldled*, and *drained* ends the proceedings on a melancholic yet emotionally ambiguous note, floating through seas of illuminating pads and steadily drifting towards the horizon.

luigis primo and unconditional beauty both made their way through the charts to become number one in the techno charts and we are tipping magic land to do the same! storming his way back onto drumcode luigi madonna closes off the summer with a 2 track ep smasher that will see him welcome in autumn with a bang. each track contains the solid, raw drums that are the backbone to each track luigi has conjured up. with a brooding undertone, the simplicity found in each track gives the lead lines and ideas more space to breath, which overall creates a unique and charismatic submission that can only be found from the italian.

die verboten are a space rock band formed by david and stephen dewaele of soulwax, fergus fergadelic purcell and henry riton. this is the first album from die verboten, written and recorded in 2007, rediscovered and mixed in 2015. this lp consists of five tracks, dafalganger, white island, e40, nacht winkel and aquarius. it is the sound of classic german kosmiche, live drums, synths, percussion and a loose funk you only find in these kind of stretched fluid grooves. the album was produced by die verboten and recorded and mixed at deewee. artwork is by ill studio / fergadelic. die verbotens debut ep live in eivissa was released in 2009 via londons vinyl factory (now selling for over £100 on discogs) and was recorded poolside in ibiza.

lisbon based techno producer re:axis returns to planet rhythm with his new solo ep *light & shadows*. after the success of his previous effort through the imprint, this time, re:axis comes up with an ep filled with swelling synth sounds and thoroughly produced drums. from the swell bass sounds in *light & shadows* to the rough mechanical sounding notes in *galactica*, re:axis stands his ground and delivers a percussive laden ep for peak-time club action.

james kumo is back, this time on his own imprint kmusic. kumo supplies us with two original mixes of his track, yellow, inspired by the infamous & former tokyo based nightclub. the original mix is tech house at it s best, ladened with deep percussive drums, dub influenced chord stabs & warm pads throughout. the dub mix is exactly that, stripped down and pounding, designed for big room dance floors.

opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.

samaris release silkidrangar sessions ist ein nachfolger und begleiter des letztjährigfen albumdebüts silkidrangar und beinhaltet überarbeitete versionen des originals, welche nun exakt ein jahr später veröffentlicht werden. samaris vereinen sehr ungleiche elemente in ihrer musik, die von elektronischen sounds, über klarinette bis hin zu jófríður Ákadóttirs bezaubernder stimme reichen. samaris mischen kalte elektronik mit gewagten, perkussiven beats und eindringlichen vocals, welche isländischen gedichten des 19. jahrhunderts entnommen wurden. einen großteil des letzten jahres verbrachte die band auf tour und spielte festivals wie roskilde, green man, reeperbahn, longitude, etc. die silkidrangar sessions wurden über zwei tage in reykjavík aufgenommen, und es wurden diverse gastmusiker eingeladen, welche instrumente wie tabla drums, cello, saxophon oder modulare synthesizer einbrachten.

more abstract, forward thinking house music courtesy of transatlantyk. mondo hehe is the fifth ep in a growing catalogue of the label and is one of its most adventurous offerings yet. lutto lento (real name lubomir grzelak) is an experimental musician from warsaw, poland, who specialises in dark, spooky, uneasy music that s hard to categorise. apart from running two experimental cassette only labels (sangoplasmo and dunno recordings), lutto lento records music for contemporary theatre and forward thinking european labels like ftd and where to now? he is equally inspired by avant-garde and surreal sounds from the bygone eras as well as raw house and techno music of today. his music tends to absorb the listener into a parallel, imaginary world, where sounds of a lamenting cry of a trumpet (b2) and a voice counting numbers on top of the rolling exotica style bongos (a2) are as important as jacking chicago house drums (b1) and energetic basslines (a3). from the jumping beats of the title track, to the late night deep roller casino , the * mondo hehe ep* is a superb collection of non-generic house music that sounds as good at a club, as it does at home.

polar is a similarly physical track with massive, monstrous kicks, reverberating synth lines and a barreling sense of groove that washes over you like a braking wave. finally, warrior charge is another physical and functional cut with robust drums, oversized hi hats and woodpecker like hook that demands you stomp and head bang from start to finish.

the ufo station steered by knutsson/berg travels further into unknown territory with their third release, a solo ep from hans berg, inspired by the idea of whales communicating through galaxies and outer space oceans, vast underwater landscapes in foreign worlds. on whales ep we hear bergs trademark quirky melodies over lush pads and slamming drums, landing somewhere between detroit techno and scandinavian melancholy.

late october will find cosmin trgs fizic label release its third ep, and a second missive for 2015. once again it comes from the romanian label owner and ever evolving producer, and this time features four more fierce cuts that take abstract inspiration from musique concrete or ballards high rise novel. opener sever is an expertly stripped back bit of concrete basement funk with scurrying alien sounds, frosted lo-fi textures and firmly rooted, propulsive kick drums driving the whole thing along.

following last years meditative mirage ep and the stunning * beat 13* on lovers rock no. 6, earthen sea returns to lr with his debut lp ink. his heaviest and most ambitious work to date, ink is a work of hypnotic, monastic beauty. over the last ten years, earthen sea, aka jacob long, has been developing a sound world all his own, built on a foundation of vaporous grey-black drones and pulsing kick drums. an impressionistic dream-scape of american life, ink journeys between the eerily vacant “entrance” to the feverish “stateless” and the shimmering perfection of “all men know the truth.” swaths of violent, glacial noise collide with lost voices transmitted through the ether, framed between moments of transcendent clarity. following an extended three song suite, closing track * blues in black ink* rides a gently falling piano melody into a finale that is as infused with political rage as it is with private melancholy. with ink, earthen sea arrives fully formed, an artist in utter command of his craft.

welcoming the fourth vinyl only instalment from farfromnormal features an excellent 3 track ep from the up and coming julian. after a long process julian has come up with 3 great original tracks which farfromnormal where happily to take on board and put together julian s very first vinyl release. this record grabs your attention from the start with track 1 resorave. resorave is a very psychedelic track with dark drums and beautiful slow atmospheres and a tripping vocal. track 2 grunge is much more on the groovy side to with fantastic production and pads that take you on a great journey. track 3 chorale is the title track and the one track to leave you on a high, with the heavy kicks and bass lines mixing between a tripping vocal and beautifully placed instruments, this is perfect for the peak hours.

we had no choice but to bring back our friend kiko navarro after the success of the new life ep released on local talk earlier this year. isao is kiko at his finest, a beautiful and hypnotic house track that has the perfect blend of afro and latin elements with a bouncy electronic edge. theres also a mighty fine remix coming from jose marquez. jose develops the vocal elements and brings in a whole orchestra of drums taking the track in a sweatier direction. kiko also delivers a koki dub where he continues on the same vibe and adds strings complimented by shakers and percussions throughout the track.

pentagram is going straight forward. with the drums kicking in, it gets his tribal atmosphere, supporter by a jumping synth.
the deep mood is rolling with it all the way.
and the track cold is inspired by the district in berlin braunbeck is living in,
called wedding. a rough, loud and simple area but also with a lot of character and and multi cultural influences.

mastermaster kicks things off and drives a shifting sequence through a lo-fi break, plodding piano notes and a clipped, lively vocal hook before -bruce wayne- melds spring reverb and squelching flangers to treat guitar riffs and more 80s drums. eerily wobbling synths shimmer over head before -hornet green- drives a sprung kick under tense, soundtrack synth tones and a sandy shuffle as a cinematic pursuit is rendered. -valium- then sets sultry vocals floating through more hazy drum breaks and softly shifting chords. rhythmic variation and more vintage effects wade in and round off off a refreshing package of rich and intriguing gems and another fine addition to the charlois series.

after making a great impression with its first ep, giant records serves up a second hot helping of house music from boss man grant dell, complete with fresh remixes by scottish techno stalwarts silicone soul. dell, also known as chicago transit authority, has been doing his do for 25 years now. as a dj he is at home in clubs in ibiza and barcelona as well as around the rest of europe, and is someone who always prefers to push his own brand of widely infused and influenced music than his own profile. once again here he comes up trumps with the emotive, glowing house cut ‘in your mind’. with a neat bassline and mid tempo house drums, subtle but effective synth smears add warmth and colour to the groove, whilst soul fuelled vocals add a real sense of personality. this is sure to get people grooving at any hour and comes with grant’s own space echo remix. as the title suggests it’s a more dubby and reverb rich affair with cosmic signifiers and sci-fi vibes pervading from start to finish. silicone soul need little introduction having been at the heart of real deep house and techno for decades on the soma label. their first remix is a darkroom dub - named after their own label - and is a seductively slo-mo and lazily unfolding house cut with languid synths that really suck you in. their lush hypnohouse mix is then a twinkling, late night bit of melodically rich deep house with starry skies twinkling above sombre chords. this is a patiently served but hugely alluring ep that is stuffed with plenty of tender feeling. one again then, both grant and giant have come up with the goods.

* kowton makes an emphatic return to livity sound this autumn with his first solo 12” for the label since 2012. * a foundation block of the label, kowton has also released on hessle audio, all caps and idle hands and most recently scored a hit with his ubiquitous -glock & roll- on young turks offshoot whities. his music s been remixed by karenn, kassem mosse and surgeon and in turn he s remixed work by paul woolford, tessela and untold. * now a regular some of the finest clubs around, kowton has played across europe both live with livity sound (alongside peverelist and asusu) and as a solo dj. in the past 12 months he s toured japan, america, australia and is set for repeat visits this autumn. * this new livity sound 12- see s kowton in a typically reductive mode: on repeat layers pulsing subs with weighty percussion and enveloping synths, holding patterns flips things into a streamlined modulating techno workout of abrasive drums and rotating rim shots.

he is young, he is from bulgaria and he has a big passion for music. having previously released music only on his own label, this is his first venture into the outside world. genial gladly welcomes on board stefan dichev.
his desert brothers ep, consists of 3 tracks, hide, withdrawal and, of course, desert brothers. it’s not easy to classify the ep in a specific music genre. all 3 tracks have a very distinctive drums programming and groovy bass. they could be easily played in a big club during the peak time of a set or at a dark basement during the after hours. they have this strange deepness that calms you down but at the same time the first kick after the break easily gets your fist up.
here at the genial headquarters, we always try to find the balance between things, people, relationships, music and maybe stefan dichev has just done that with his desert brothers ep… he found the balance!

dynarec started making music in 1994. his productions, influenced by drexciya and dopplereffekt, are a mix of deep atmospheric pads and leads with – cool to very heavy – drums.his first releases on delsin in 2003 and 2004 were picked up by dj’s such as laurent garnier and dave clarke. after some more records on nature and kondi, he started his own « vaporwave » label in 2005, four records were released to date. he is able to fill in some very emotional and melodic workout that makes you wonder, how is he able to do that? playing piano since he was 6 years old could be an answer to his performing skills. apart from delsin, nature and kondi, he has also released on southern outpost, electrix and lately, on keith tucker’s puzzlebox label (us) and on cultivated electronics (uk). dynarec also releases music under the names of speakwave and chris kalera. he has performed worldwide, including festivals such as the famous stereolize, in paris, and the amsterdam dance event, amongst others.

the second 12inch of 2015 for call super sees him contemplating the dancefloor once again, much in the manner of his previous releases the present tense and fluenka mitsu. on migrant, the enigmatic artist returns to houndstooth with two tracks that develop his detailed, quixotic sound with his palette of shady drums and svelte bass work. dreamlike pieces to rotate you into the night.

up first is gigolo, a spare and weird house cut with sine waves and random claps, hunched drums and trippy synth lines. it s a unique track made in a unique way and will lead to plenty of freaky dance floor moments, for sure. co. art is a whacked out techno cut with slap-funk claps, blistering and blistered synth lines and a rugged bit of bass underlining it all. the track is cavernous and metallic, empty and distant as if it somehow survived a nuclear blast. on the flip, alzheimer is a slow and gurgling, swampy techno number with broken drums and crawling synths that sound like their batteries have run down. icy, watery melodies eventually rain down, but the track remains resolutely eerie. last of all, fabric is another decaying track with subtle, heavily filtered synths and drums all making for a minimal groove that is barely there.

(vinyl+cd) stuff., which was mastered by daddy kev (flying lotus, thundercat, jonwayne), features nine hip-hop-influenced instrumental cuts of chopped drums and syncopated rhythms. event horizon chosen has one of the worldwide winners of 2015 by gilles peterson.

hessismore are a 7 person musicans collective based in new york and copenhagen around musical mastermind mikkel hess. they released their gomma debut ep last july. strange, beautiful music from outta space. balinese marimbas, african drums, spooky voices - great new music. now here come the remixes. dimitri from paris did an effective, supersexy disco stomper. keeping a lot from the original version. the crazy voices, the punk funk feel, the moody, new wave atmopshere. but now its a club bomb. then williamsburgs hidden underground star lorne dune reworked the other song. in a more edgy, distorted way. beautiful. then you have a version by munichs pollyester. the former bass player of munk now has gone solo. she does this kind of naive, early 80ies, powerdisco you could hear at clubs like the loft oder dj harvey playing. orgastic hardcore disco rock

kiko navarro has released on some pretty impressive labels. nite grooves, third ear and even king street sounds to name a few! which makes us very excited to have him as part of plastik people. kiko delivers us some straight up dance floor house killers, first track, bates dance has infectious strings combined with moody drums & rhythms that are reminiscence of early point g sounds that came out on basic recordings back in the day, kiko then follows up with a groovy hip shaking track called camon yo! which will certainly move any floor.

gorge is back on 8bit with yet another great release! for hidaya ep, the labelhead revisited his acclaimed signature sound, combining tight drums & dusty stabs into rollin groove machines that just work in the club. hidaya, the a-side is made to be played during peek time. an uplifiting arpeggio carried by moving spheres will bring the party to the next level. so they say strikes the crowd with evolving synths and floating delays, making it a perfect b-side. enjoy, we will hear these babies a lot!

somewhere in between de la soul, max graef and terrence parker lives georgi barrel. this mini album is a musical paradigm representing our definition of 2015 club music. infos about artist & record georgi barrel is a highly creative genius producer from kassel, germany. in 2014 we first time took notice of him – and were instantly excited. his highly distinctive, very relaxed and boogie-influenced style is pure joy. from wonky de-la-soul-grooves up to smashing ugly-drums like disco edits: on this album georgi is traveling through the undiscovered no mans land between house, hiphop and disco – the result is a masterpiece that definitely holds a candle to glenn astros throwback or max graef’s rivers of the red planet.
