aardvarck returns with his third full length album for eat concrete records. anti concept showcases a taste for deep ambient and minimalstic soundscapes, dub, detroit techno and bass heavy beats, mixed into a perfect flow. as the title suggests anti concept leaves aside musical genres and focuses on atmosphere rather than style. on anti concept aardvarck carefully and patiently builds his own world of sound, adding layers and complexity with each track.tip!

2011 collection featuring cuts from shuggie otis, sly & the family stone and aretha franklin.. the old grey whistle test has now been synonymous with quality music for 40 years. although possibly best know as a show for rock music, the show maintained an amazing variety when it came to choosing its artists, it really only had two criteria, 1, that the artists had released an album and 2 that they produced great music. this collection mostly features artists that appeared on the show but also include artists who for whatever reason didnt or couldnt appear on the show.

ross allens meltdown music recordings is kick-starting into life with this stunning mini album/ep from welsh native and production talent evm. evms music holds a fine balance between the contemporary and the classic, between uk garage, broken hip-hop, and the vibe of reggae, house and soul, wrapped in velvety production and a technical style all of his own. title track >groove content< has been a mainstay on ross weekly ministry of sound show for six months, and its now in the hands of gilles peterson who has already hailed it as a classic, supporting it on his bbc radio 1 show and tearing it up on the main stage at this years sonar festival.

the album also features a song co-written by agnetha fältskog. although she had composed much of her swedish solo output, the song disillusion , for which she wrote the music, is the only song released on an abba album to feature a songwriting contribution from her.

favourites of everyone from sinden to mary anne hobbs, r1 ryders follow up the excellent full throttle ep with this newie from their self-titled label. mixing grime, tech and ukf perfectly, these tunes will slot into a huge range of dj boxes – the awesome >on your marks< especially, with its lazer-guided synth melodies, heavy wobble bass and funkified drums making it a real standout. the strings n bounce of >cyber< is similarly epic, while the itchy tech-funk of >pop shit off< is frankly begging to have the acapella from ludacris >whats your fantasy< plastered over it – such is the similarity between their bassy stabs and off-kilter rhythms.

for more than a year, third ear and benjamin have been selecting tracks for this ep and for an album to follow later in the year. the wait was largely due to the track no kicks, which initially used a chuck d acapella, titled no. when third ear couldn?t get clearance for the acapella, we suggested to benjamin that we try and think of another poet/rapper who could produce an original lyric inspired by chuck d?s flow. after some thought we suggested diamondancer, who was inspired to write the lyric she performs here. stay hungry stay foolish and acidic sun are delicious and dreamy, with a fat pulsing groove. hello ammmerika is more urgent, pushing the groove constantly.
