on their introductory minus ep, click box offers a refreshing return to a bygone era of classic instrumentals, full of experimentation and passion generated by that ongoing love affair between man and machine. berlin shades starts out in a jittery minimal fashion but soon dives much deeper as the tough electro bassline expands and contracts dragging the dancer to and fro. the cascading hook and in-your-face sci-fi synth motif add a sense of tongue-in-cheek drama to a dynamic arrangement that incorporates steep inclines, sharp drops and snaking pathways. as the short staccato bass riff gains momentum and the hook comes round for the second time you just know somethings lying in wait and the boys certainly dont disappoint. lost road is anything but a blind alley, kicking off with some low-slung interplay between a two-note bassline and a whiplash snare that dishes out a serious spanking. hi-hats fizz across the audio spectrum, cleverly pitching up and down before a drunken bass sequence ushers in the main section with its sliding, twisted synth distortions primed for surprise and immediate disorientation. once all the elements are in play, the fun really starts with so many objects of interest competing for attention. the arrangement is pulled and pushed to great effect extracting maximum effect from this tough little unit. more electro flavour to the fore as the loose, broken beat intro and robot sounds of some toys make for some slick moves on the dancefloor. the retro synth riffs and dark spiralling pads conjure up images of some early 80s lab full of computer kids in white coats twiddling knobs on huge mainframe monoliths. the bouncing bass and analogue belches make this a must for all retro-tastic electro-boogie fans. the theme continues over into voxer as rising filtered bass tones playout over another trademark click box drum pattern, this time doused in heavy reverb and delay. an array of analogue bleeps, screams and laser beams keep the motor ticking over.

christopher spero a.k.a glimpse has really made a name for himself the way that producers and djs in this day and age should: by making tasteful music of the highest caliber, and putting substance over style. these two tracks co-produced with frequent collaborator and head of the hypercolour label, alex jones, put that said taste on display in a refined and elegant form of house music.true friends pumps right from the beginning with a chunky rolling kick drum only made denser by the thick brushing percussion that surrounds it. before the beats become to overwhelming a soothing male vocals drifts in reminding how hard it is these days to find a true friend. a stark tune of epic proportions. returning with a similar pressure from drum programming aesthetic, which basically means hefty percussion layered over warm and tumbling drums. æcambria sets itself apart from the a-side with a more open-air vibe. light piano notes float along side softly played wind instruments, creating a surreal dreamlike audio experience that still has the tools to do damage on the dance floor. glimpse and alex jones have really put some true style, grace and class into their music. masters at creating a distinctive sound that exist in the space where warm and lush tones meet musicality and stimulation. a summer record with good vibes scrawled all over it.

big love go from strength to strength next up for them is up n coming french producer romain curtis teams up with seamus haji and rising swedish star awa on vocals for this sublime track that should do the biznizz this summer. romains club mix has an infectious feel and teases the chorus vocal to crowd-pleasing results. seamus hajis vocal mix rushes straight to the top of the anthemometer whilst his dub goes deeper and tuffer with a slight tribal edge. all round dirty/techy/funker filthy rich really goes for the peak time slot making great use of the vocal for light relief

after successfully bringing back the boogie with the launch of their own imprint, boogie corporation are now back again to prove that they really are slaves to the boogie with this their second release on bc. inspired by strange android dreams and angelic visions of russian air hostesses on electronically powered scooters, aeroflot is equal part space and equal part boogie. meanwhile on the flip, git down is a slab of raw basement boogie, an experiment in time travel and is well heavy on the funk. last up, but by no means a slacker, is dirty rips which pays homage to the machine funk of the early electro sound while giving it a serious contemporary tweak. this track was previously re edited by dj legend greg wilson and released as hardcore boogie on redux, but this is the first time the original version has been released on vinyl. are you a slave to the boogie?

stephen hellm is back on k-records with a brand new release called “taste”, without a doubt a perfect title that really says it all. in the original version you get carried away by a dreamy melody and very subtle nature sounds in the background. listen to it at home lying in bed, or float above the dance floor in your favorite club. this is a multipurpose track.robert babicz has taken the remix side for his account. with some extra punch, a pulsating acid line, a sharp synth and even a piano riff, the master himself made it a real dance floor killer.

autonation s sit on the bass was released on esteemed label r&s , 18 years ago in 1991.. (shit! was it really 18 years ago??)
autonation kindly agreed to a re-release two years ago after a meeting in a pub in ladbroke grove. sit on the bass has been a mainstay of label boss jerome hill s sets since it s release all those years ago and still sounds relevent and rocks crowds today.
autonation is none other than seasoned producer dave campbell who over the years has released a vast body of techno, drum n bass, and ambient music under the aliases kibu, hiryze, xtro, greenback and of course autonation on labels such as rising high, certificate 18, r&s, cue and guy called gerald s juicebox.
its an absolute techno classic, but not one of the obvious ones that get rolled out for every old skool back to the 90 s set.. so get on board and be in the know before everyone gets on it!!
jerome hill steps up for the remix on the b-side utilising some fierce rumbling sub bass and keeping the energy levels on 11 for the dancefloor..
this release has been cut super loud and is the first 2-tracker on don t for just this reason.

phantasma volume 2 by dinky, matthew styles and pier bucci is out now. this lovingly designed record is produced by three artists we really like and and it is just grea they decided to work with us again. matthew is damn sure one of our favourite producers and pier s skills are nothing short of his. on the last release we made with them, they d worked together as oblique strategies on balld inc. for phantasma volume 2 pier wrote a track on his own, highlighting the noble beats he is known for and expanding the explicit cadenced patterns with a chord phrase that leads the structure to perfection. dinky whose work was released on such labels as cocoon, traum, vakant and of course on her own imprint horizontal composed the other side together with matthew and you can sense their familiarity at once. the two arranged >choises< carefully, sleek and free of any kind of hubris. well, this attitude is hart to find these days and their versed piece may calm your stressed out ears both in the club and at home

some spicy latin salsa to heat up the dancefloor at your tropical dance party! there s nothing quite like listening or dancing to good strong latin music, and i m not talking about wishy washy bossa nova or boring rumbas that your mum and dad danced to on their honeymoon cruise in the caribbean. i m talking about tropical rhythms that make your hips grind and jiggle, complex, crazy beats that make your feet take on a life of their own, hypnotic piano and blasting horns that whirl around inside your head, intensifying an already exotic experience. it doesn t matter if you don t understand the lyrics, the fun is all there in the vibrant atmosphere and the knowledge that you re listening to pro musicians making seriously exciting music.
when it comes to proper latin, there are loads of bands to choose from. most of them don t get a peep outside of their local communities, it appears that the latinos are only too happy to enjoy their own music, and so what if the rest of the world can t hear it? not so orcestra esencia - this west coast usa outfit can give it some if they really have to. check out these two irresistible tracks. tropical dancefloor salsa at its finest. now that s what i call bangin latin!

the messengers (kev beadle & darren moss) get busy re arranging and re jigging two classic tracks from back in the day. side 1 kicks off with creative love - a straight forward extended re arrangement of the excellent creative source version of ew&fs classic cant hide the love which really emphasises the brilliant chorus hook and creates a brilliant end of the night, hands in the air, sing a long vibe. on side 2 the boys get into jazz funk disco mode with an excellent re arranged and beefed up drum version of the 1978 classic six million steps by rahni harris re titled too many steps. both tracks have already been getting props and plays from the likes of gilles peterson, rainer truby, michael rutten, souled and nik weston.

after the marvelous debut concorde club recordings presents this great 2nd release of microtune & takter with remixes by steven beyer (lordag) and channel x (stil vor talent). this is the next step forward, to present the labels own special kind of sound. the tracks varies between deep technoid sounds to nearly minimal house styles and pushes really forward again.

a killer clubby groove from steve marshall û the kind that reminds us of the best indie singles from the late 70s disco years! steve plays alto sax here over a strutting, high stepping rhythm thats got plenty of warm touches û really glowing with a sense of soul thats great, and touched by some female chorus vocals that are very much in a philly mode! the disco mix is great û even more upbeat and extended than the 45 groove. in the country is a great bit of club jazz û smooth and sweet, but still with a snakey flute line in the middle û almost like some lost bobbi humphrey track from her epic years. do what you will is another chorus vocal number û and you are the world features some laidback mellow flute.

rene breitbarths sphere ep,which brought the succesful start of the primarily digital only-label, is now available as an actual record. the track of the same name is already deemed to be a timeless summer hit for several digital/cd djs, and cant stop to spread a positive mood. likewise, easy cant help to keep your feet stuck to the ground with its fluffy chords and melodies, which again create happiness all over. then hypno gets it really deep - minimal house with swing and a hypnotic approach for floor groovers.

a welcome return for big love with a summer anthem in the making. uk duo, haji & emanuel, are back with another distinctive vocal track, this time with the unmistakable voice of roachford. the original has already been causing an early buzz in many dj sets now with a top international remix package. german trio dbn turn out an infectious club mix that pumps up the tempo. dutch / austrian duo hagenaar & albrecht crank up the energy factor on their tribal edged mix and russian pairing swanky tunes really push the peak time button on their storming remix which rounds things off nicely. big love are back with a bang!

clone v2.0! clone back in its new form.. a series of specialized series dedicated to different functionalities, emotions and styles of electronic music. the clone loft series will be releasing more traditional house and ny influenced disco for the smaller and more intimate club settings. first of reggie dokes with probably his best release so far! a-side is a dirty but massive house track that goes down very well in any house set! at first notice this might be the main track... which most likely it is for more peak-time use... but actually our favorite is the fierce i wear the mask track on the flipside. this track has a nice jumpy beat, very light... but such a balanced rhythm that it will grab one for sure. on top it has layers of strings and a bouncy bassline and very staccato keys... and everything is so well balanced, so sensitive that it really gives us goosebumps all over! it reminds even to some derrick may tracks where he managed to make his songs emotional and fragile with the same kind of timbre and hidden energy (but then less 909 orientated and such...) it has that force, that gentle force of magic that frees that inner energy, that inner power that makes you wanna dance. what a stunning track and what a strong release by mr dokes. essential!

abusing our soft side for dub edgar 9000 gave us these compelling tracks.>play me minus three (patience vs. epiphany mix)< û what starts like a nicely arranged minimal tune bubbles and billows after a short pause up to a big ride on the acid-dub-ghost-train. at the latest when the decently deployed and gated french horn pad sets in on the second half you are completely lost. not for quick peep û but beware: danger of addiction of endless playing is definitely given.meanwhile the title >hook & bait< of the b-side rather reads like the basic principle of fishing. it really sounds like the classic principle of ambient à well almost, since in this case this ambient track is drifting along itself, underlined with a straight driving and floating rhythm fed by an earthly bassline.petri heil! (as we say in krauts-country)

some would say the chicken lips label is long overdue, but lipservice is worth the wait as it promises the very best from augmented cl clan of dean meredith, andy meecham, stevie kotey and johnny spencer - a collective who have remixed just about everyone, spawned a thousand copycats and destroyed a few floors in the process. the inaugural lipservice release sees the chaps unleash zeefungk, one of their most popular and rare guises. the a-side is occupied by >robot eyes< - a splendid slice of electro-disco-funk which is vintage chicken lips. acid bass and loose drums combine with keys which progress wonderfully to create a really special piece of dancefloor tomfoolery. next up is >feast of freeks< (stevie koteys tape edit), a new edit of a track featured on the bands now-classic >extended play< album but never released as a 12inch. the bearfunk main man and all round gent delivers a tweaky, driving uptempo disco monster which climaxes in some trademark kotey madness. >robot lips< closes the packages and displays more of the guys unreal keyboard work as the groove stays steady but the hands go hyper. riddled with vintage synth work, >robot lips< is heads down business and no mistake.

after a string of highly regarded releases on home label 20:20 vision, uk producer moodymanc aka danny wards strongly original sound and taste for the party has now brought his music to german shores…. his freakily percussive warehouse tool >preacher (bum bum drum dub)< recently featured on steve bugs bugnology 3 mix, and steve was so into moodymancs stylings he simply wanted more!! >snore (dubba dub)< is a finely crafted tribal edged beast, full with invigorating percussive elements, haunting vocal sustains and mancs now trademark dubba-dub stutters. its a roomfilling club tool, infused with the all buzz of a rio carnival, and indeed the warehouse jack of the uks rich northern club scene. switching musical zones slightly, but of course not compromising on quality, >next song< takes us into the darker, deeper and more playful of moodymancs acidic heritage. as a regular dj at the legendary back 2 basics club in leeds, this fellow certainly knows a thing or two about working the floor, and this cut will rock it with equal amounts of deepness and naughtiness! the original, more blissed-out version of ‚snore‘ is also included, which really shows off the musician skills behind wards productions. this real celebration of house is characterised by razor sharp percussion and tastefully soulful synth work, evolving and morphing into a dreamy yet energetic trip… quite a package!

after three digital-only releases polytone switches to vinyl and has signed new tracks from andreas heiszenberger for its first 12 inch release. heiszenberger has enjoyed great success last year with his release on brut! and links to the atmosphere and beat structure of his predecessor here. for polytone heiszenberger also relies on cool syncopated grooves and his heavy trademark beats as well as abstract pads which mingle with sweet harmonies and his laconic vocal snippets.the record is crowned with a great remix by popnoname who has just scored a hit with his new album on italic. of course, popnoname leaps at heiszenbergers harmonies, but also comes up with a really big surprise in the middle of the remix! cool, well-rounded record and a strong start of the vinyl business for polytone.

this is the first release in 2009 for the funkier side of ibreaks, with this supreme dreams come true by don dj mutiny ft diigii. without any kind of doubts this is a really huge vocal track which will get the ladies dancing with their sexiest moves all over the place. if you dont get laid with this tune, you clearly need some plastic surgery!!!
