it is no secret that bloop has gained a cult following in the few years that it has as a label. release after release, the portuguese imprint has put quality over quantity. and by doing so, it has earned the respect of the djs. one of the releases that made it gain that status has to be anonyms >fazer-me a cabeça ep<. its two tracks from an anonymous producer from detroit, that had just released an acclaimed ep on sushitech, was so well received that it helped in raising the profile of both anonym and bloop. so it is a great pleasure to have anonym back on bloop with >a is for acid, b is for bass<. two raw jabs of techno and rave, two strong statements of how detroit techno has still a lot to say

australian newcomer delivers a bumper ep for londons 3rd strike. the lead track is a driving deep looped disco house in the vein of soundstream or the mole. gaining support from mark e and the revenge to name a few. lovin you keeps the pace high, again utilizing subtle disco samples with a rigid house backbone and hand in the air keys. hunee is on remix duties and keeps the quality as high as his acclaimed releases. merging a moody bass synth with jittering drums and stuttering keys.

right after the success of his massive crude ep on adam beyer s famous drumcode imprint, patrick comes up with the titletrack dome - and boy what a follow-up it is! over ten minutes patrick keeps the tension high, teases us with the raw force of dome over just a few little kickdrum pauses until the track goes through the roof in on hell of a break! on the flip we have hot mess, another primetime weapon, and this one patrick produced together with per hammar, who made a name for himself with releases on great stuff, starlight and kant over the last year, but it was especially his track el salvador on mija rec. a few months ago that introduced per to a bigger audience, causing quite a stir on dancefloors worldwide!

thomas fehlmann is integral to kompakt and the labels history. his solo releases and collaborative work with alex patterson as the orb have been some of the kompakts most revered and cherished tunes. following the success of his 2010 full length gute luft (a collection of re-edited versions from his score to the hit documentary 24hr berlin), we start 2011 off with titan one / dfm. on october 16, 2010 thomas fehlmann performed in montreal, canada at the historic molson coors brewery building together with members of the montreal symphony orchestra (osm). together they sought to recreate a version of gustav mahlers classic symphony no. 1 (titan). kompakt is proud to now offer a new recording inspired by that epic concert of symphonic and electronic with a new recording inspired from that performance – renamed as titan one. the hum of cellos and strings conjoin fehlmanns electronics – held together by the sublime, unobtrusive thump of a bass drum. titan one flows with a beauty and edacity that is rarely heard in both classical and electronic music form. the b-side features a new recording inspired from the second piece of the performance - a new version of thomas fehlmanns du fehlst mir from his 2006 kompakt full length visions of blah. reanimated as dfm, the piece again conjoins the different musical worlds in a way we have never heard to such a high standard. a much more upbeat affair than to titan one (of course) bass and keyboards mingle with the symphony the playfulness of the original song rolls throughout dfm. whether as palais schaumberg, the orb, or 3mb (to name only a few alias). fehlmann may have 3 decades of professional recordings under his belt but he continues to prove to the world as being one of the most fascinating and creatively open musicians in his field. this release clearly proves his story is far from over.

once again leng deliver with a lovely bit of heavy electronic stompery. tiagos >the source< goes straight for the dark end of the dancefloor and wallows in the smokey acidic enivirons of the late night moody corner ! with a punchy throbbing bass, hefty beats, tons of spacey effects and some awesome delayed hi hats to really mess your head, this is in the box for the strobe light moment. on side-b >mudds slow rave mix< turns up the acid a few notches, somehow gets even swampier in the bottom end and slightly more whacked out on the fx, add a lovely niggling synth line for a dark heavy dancefloor work out.

crazy p return to 2020vision with their first new material since the stop space return album. the mts series is a chance for jim & chris to get back to basics and produce some club tracks for their in demand dj sets, before they reconvene with the rest of the band for their next album. already making waves with both of their soloexcursions (ron basejam and hot toddy), they team up here for two perfect examples of their trademark disco and house vibes. crazy p are quite rightly held in great esteem from some of the hippest names around, wolf & lamb, jamie jones and tensnake to name three. they have been ploughing their own deep disco furrow for many years waiting for fashion to catch them up, and now can take the plaudits for being figureheads of this uk scene. my love is a superb raw house cut, thats custom built for sweaty basement sessions, influenced by classic us house. make me wanna takes a moreunk riffs and diva vocals. both of superb examples of the amazing crazy p sound and have had unanimous glowing feedback from the few people lucky enough to have heard them so far

manchester based freak seven, known for his releases on new religion a few years back, teams up with renowned vocalist aniff akinola, whose large cv includes co-writing a guy called geralds >voodoo ray<. together they produced two 21st century techno soul tracks that both are on heavy rotation at rh hq ever since they made their way into our offices. nano kids is a pulsating house track which get uplifted by aniffs voice, creating an anthematic message from the future. feel the soul is a more intense, urgent track based around repetitive feel the pressure,.. vocal. its dark, robotic feel will surely cause mayhem on the floor.

i dont think i know, or heard of, anyone who share the same obsession in searching obscure disco records like kool dj dust (real name daniel savio). call him at any given time and he is in some flee market or second hand shop on the look-out for records. he even got an apartment just for his collection.
we talked about the idea of re-releasing >un-googable< music, old stuff that is not only very hard to find, but also so good that re-issueing it is an actual cultural necessity. dust tossed around with a few ideas and finally these three songs made the cut. we are very happy with them!

fifth release on the acclaimed imprint from those lovely people over at the acclaimed sleazybeats blog. the dust just doesnt seem to settle at team sleazy who are set to unleash their fifth dish of mid-tempo filth. sbr005 should likely round out what has undoubtedly been more than a successful year for the sleazy beats crew. as hard as it might seem to upstage their recent sampler, this release by berliner daniel solar (of no more hits and dikso fame) is another trio of totally on point sleazy business which showcases daniels stellar skills. things start off with midfidelity funk, a snappy romp through steady synth and disco string territory. this little number delivers a perfectly spell-binding groove with nicely placed rhodes stabs, crisp tambourines and haunting vocal at the breaks. on the flip, twinkle love snaps out a sweet melange of piano, guitar/bass riff and morphing vocals that combine to give a lively mood and open atmospherics. finally, rounding up the ep is la fleur, a wonky yet punchy cut thats ripe with staunch drum sounds and strings amidst loopy vocal snippets for good measure. all three tracks ride a 110ish bpm groove that is likely to ring bells for those who have been following and digging the sleazy sound so far. the last few releases all sold out in a matter of weeks, so dont sleep on this. you know the drill by now: limited release, no repress.

on the back of shakes retrospective frictionalism 1994-2009 compilation, we have asked some producers from the new generation who were influenced by shakes music one way or another to remix his music. since shakes catalogue is such a diverse one, we looked different directions for remixers. the first 12 embodies the whole new beat scene (dubstep, future house, wonky, what do we call it these days). faltydl is on fire lately so we asked him to remix assimilated. the result is an up tempo stepper that both offers a look into the past as well as into the future. banging business. next up is space dimension controller. this uk young buck has been surprising many with his first few releases and remixes over the last year. he transforms the down tempo detroit state of mind into a mid tempo techno-soul affair that will have you grooving all the way through. second part will feature the new techno generation with mixes from mrsk and skudge

so, who or what is trajical bitch aka manager_111 akaka elec pt.1 akakaka trajical bitch akakakaka the minister? and why is this guy making dirty rough banging chi-house/d-techno hybrid-tracks in his own special way? born an raised in duesseldorf, andreas gehm, the mysterious man behind that all - moved to cologne a few years later. this proper guy stands not more or less for an uncompromising underground techno and house conspiracy, whether you label it bleepy dry minimal, glitchy acid-phonk or shimmering futura3000-cosmic-disco that definitely makes your ass move. the d stands for duesseldorf and the c for cologne, but of course these initials likewise pertain to detroit techno and chicago acid house.

following on from his studio 395 ep that heralded the support of zip, oliver deutschmann, baby ford, rolando & ben sims to name a few, ed returns with another satisfying 2 tracker. centrality is a strong, peak time techno track that features raw 909 percussion paired with an infectious synth riff & haunting house vocals finishing on a transmat style synth solo, the kind of track that stays in your head for hours if not days after you ve left the nightclub. b side spirits incorporates the same distinguished groove of centrality but opens the possibilities up tenfold inviting plays on both house & techno dance floors equally suited to night & day

may this record be understood as a diabolic statement coming along with the winter season or even as an affront?
hometrainers affinity of doomed dispositions (possibly seen as humor) might be known to a few by tracks from the early 2k. now he turns the table and shouts out: >get up to nowhere.< sounds like an offense he made. acid pauli did like this right in time to produce another track that points it metaphorically out.

triple visions flagship label planet rhythm is going on strong with another blasting techno release. a.paul is next in line releasing for the planet under his other famous alter ego: loudon kleer which he uses for his releases on labels like parallel 125 records, synewave and dirty ego records to name just a few. while his a.paul releases are strictly banging releases for the dancefloor, loudon kleer takes us into the darkside of his mind. although he takes you straight into the dungeons of techno, in de dungeons they also like to dance. the crazy funky edits and shuffles into the beats make sure the feet will move according the rhythm. yes planet rhythm is fully ruling the scene like we used to and get ready for more strictly techno soon!

the final chapter of vonstrokes limited vinyl album remixes features some seriously low end.
remix #1 is one the favorites of the entire project. claude met brazils dj marky on an artist bus at a uk festival last summer and gave him the track >aundy<. he asked him to do a mix and marky and his friend s.p.y. turned in this amazing drum n bass version. numerous artists have been dropping it even in the middle of house sets! it really captures the drum n bass feeling of the original track taking it back to the genre which inspired it.
remix #2 is from our up and coming bristol based bass prodigy, julio bashmore. he takes on >california< the co-production by cvs and j phlip to another level, adding smooth low end bukem style bass drops and shimmery vox/pad programming to the already insane track. bashmore is one of the few new breed of uk producers who cross over all the way from house to dubstep.

after a lengthy break from the electronic music world, genotype is back with an lp for exit records and provides a lesson in stripped back dub influenced music at approximately 170 bpm. having started his music career in the mid nineties under the legendary alias just jungle, with releases on the massively influential labels of that era such as trouble on vinyl, renegade hardware and reinforced records, its no surprise that he has managed to capture the essence of rawness in his recent music akin to the early years of jungle. many producers have tried and failed to bring back the old skool sound with an original flavor but genotype has managed this by resisting the temptation to lash in the tired old classic breaks and instead has drawn for the more organic sounding percussion and drum kits. the dubbed out theme runs throughout the album paying homage to his love for west indian music which he has been involved in for many years and naturally influences the music he creates. genotype is a man of few words and prefers to let his music do the talking so check out the album and draw your own conclusions.
