echodroides is a collaboration between chicago natives frank de la mora & miguel martin. their sound can be described as a trip through space with analog synthesizers and drum machines. they came together in 2011 first working on remixes then shortly after decided to work on original material. their music has been featured in tv shows, movies, promotional videos from peugeot, fashion labels and the ubisoft video game, watch dogs. for this special and limited release they re-created a track from 80s us studio project, experimental products, - paying tribute to -glowing in the dark- original and an instrumental. colin potter is a sound engineer and musician currently based in london. he has worked within the fields of electronic and experimental music for over 35 years, collaborating with the likes of current 93, the hafler trio, organum, andrew chalk, and most notably as a key part of nurse with wound alongside steven stapleton. he started the esteemed icr (integrated circuit recordings) label in 1981 releasing a clutch of wonderful home recordings of his own, over half a dozen small run cassette only releases. ‘the where house?’ was recorded in 1981 at ic studio, a converted wash house in sutton on the forest in north yorkshire. the album was self-released on cassette that same year via icr. this expanded double lp edition features all 13 tracks from the original tape on vinyl for the first time plus 4 bonus tracks. ‘the where house?’ is a prime example of early uk post-punk/industrial electronic music. “combining dub, electro, and krautrock rhythms with psychedelic, kosmische noise in multiple mutations ranging from almost pop-wise songcraft to horizon-scanning motorik flights,” says boomkat. most of the damage was done by colin using guitars, synths, sequencers, drum machines, percussion, and modified toy keyboards with fairly primitive 4-track recording equipment. he was assisted on some of the tracks by stephan jadd-parry (guitar, percussions), jon caffery (guitar, bass, e-bow, percussion) and nick jackson (synth). all songs have been remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. the record is sleeved in a replica of the original cassette artwork by jonathan coleclough. every copy includes a double sided postcard insert with notes from colin.

dark entries is proud to release ‘commerce’, the third ep from san francisco-based trio inhalt, german for “content”. the group was founded in 2009, and for the purposes of this recording are matia simovich, philip winiger and steven campodonico. inhalt’s core operative strategy is of sonic fidelity and integrity rather than nostalgia. their first release was a split 12- on world unknown in 2011 followed by two eps on dark entries, a remix ep on emotional especial and a part time punks session on cleopatra. ‘commerce’ is a close examination of the self destructive tendency of the ego in relation to the allure of negativity and mass tragedy. the ep details the psychopathy of relentless thirst mandated by neo-liberalism and traverses through the adoption of social and economic technologies that strengthen domination vis a vis self enslavement to disempowerment. employing the best of both modern and vintage techniques, the four songs on the ep utilize dense production, big snares, and powerful german vocals from philip. inhalt are informed by the brooding soundtracks of john carpenter as much as the vastness and sheen of trevor horn, and set out to explore the borders between the vocal-driven pop song and the expansive dancefloor 12&#8243,,,, arrangement. the record was produced over four years at the bands own black sun loft recording studio and different fur studios. paul lavigne mastered the ep in london, england at kontrast mastering and george horn handled the vinyl eq curve at fantasy studios, berkeley. each ep is housed in a specially designed jacket by leo merz and includes a lyric sheet with english translations.

dark entries is honored to re-issue one of the greatest and most overlooked albums of the 1970s. time actor was the result of a collaboration between legendary crazy world & kingdom come visionary arthur brown and german synthesizer and ambient genius klaus schulze, recording under the pseudonym of his alter-ego richard wahnfried. richard is the name of klaus son born in 1979, and the first name of the german composer wagner. wahnfried is the name of richard wagners house, from the german -wähnen frieden fand (that his search and hopes will find peace). the album was a unique fusion of brown s eccentric musical vision and schulze s mastery of synthesis. the album was originally released in 1979 on the german innovative communication label. time actor stands out amongst schulze s massive catalog as a masterwork of avant garde new age. schulze helms the project on electronics, and guests include michael shrieve on percussion, vincent crane on keyboards, and vocalist arthur brown, who sings – or should we say, speaks – on top of it all. schulze describes the wahnfried project in the liner notes as “the collective pseudonym of an idea: time-electronic, an experiment between avantgarde and muzak: utility-music for sound-covered environment, in which a new generation grows up: richard wahnfried is this generation: music between genius and nonsense: new ideas transported by an old medium to your ear.” this newly re-mastered reissue expands the original 60 minutes of music across a double lp to help with playback and distortion experienced on original pressings. we’ve added a bonus track in the form of a cosmic 12-minute extended remix by italian producer and dj maurizio delvecchio from 1983. all songs have been remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. housed in a gatefold jacket with original album artwork featuring a surreal painting by german artist peter nagel plus lyrics and notes. “i wish you plenty of time” - klaus schulze

lost lp from 1977, rebuilt from original tapes, by the creator of black devil disco club the french electronic music pioneer behind black devil disco club, released three seminal library albums in the seventies: suspense (1975), cosmos 2043 (1977) and the strange world of bernard fevre (1977). a fourth album called orbit ceremony, produced just a few months after remained in his home studio and never saw the light, sentenced to almost 40 years in the devil’s vault. by chance, while working on the re-issues, bernard fevre recently found the original lost tapes of orbit ceremony, including the multi-tracks which he remastered himself. spacy moogs, weird clavinet, and cosmic analog drum machines: it’s all here. the quirky, cosmic library music found on this long-deleted 70&#8242,,,,s science-fiction-themed album is full of burbling synths and off-kilter melodies. there’s only one man on this planet able to produce such a crazy sound. as soon as you press play you know you’ve embarked on a special and unique ‘back to the future’ trip. don’t worry, fasten your seat belt and relax. captain fevre is taking care of everything.

we are delighted to welcome egyptology to the hands in the dark family. the parisian duo, made up of stéphane laporte (domotic) and olivier lamm have been active since the late 90s in the french post-electronica/avant-pop scene. sur les autres mondes is inspired by a publication by french astronomer lucien rudaux (1937, larousse) in which he imagined the landscapes of other planets in our solar system through scientific descriptions. partly composed for a performance at the prestigious louvre museum in paris, the album is the band’s first full length output since 2012, and we can assure you that it has been worth the wait. their sharp ear for detail and the epic worlds evoked through the album make for an auditory voyage which is as graphic as the words inked by rudaux. the duo is bringing the 70s kosmiche genre back to life in a very fresh, bold way, offering a strong shot of pure analogue sound and a fantastic, melodic approach to synth-based ambient music.

tom ellard is the creative force behind australian post-punk band severed heads. in 1982 he self-released two cassettes of solo material, “80s cheesecake” and “snappy carrion”. these cassettes document the transitional period between the early experimental severed heads’ albums “clean” and “blubberknife” before the start of something new with “since the accident”. with the advent of the then new roland tb-303 bass synthesizer, a machine synonymous with the acid house sound, tom began to write more beat driven material. the rhythms are made by a tr-808 drum machine, kawai s100f and sh-1 synthesizers, plus various televisions, radios, cassette decks and pedals. two songs from these cassettes would later appear on the b-side of the “dead eyes opened” single.

nkisi loads up a four-track cartridge of blistering hardstep gabba/techno for arcola with the dark orchestra. with previous physical releases being cut across a near impossible to find whitelabel 12” for mw and contributions to co-non worldwide founder chino amobi’s paradiso (the wire magazine’s no. 1 album of 2017), the dark orchestra is set to be one of the most imperative charges from both nkisi and the non-faction yet.

fantasy life was a one-off italo disco studio project that consisted of various producers, songwriters, and vocalists from turin, italy. the line-up included lorenzo avico, maurizio camoletto and sergio bergamin. they recorded their only single ?over and over? at minirec studio in 1985 with mixing engineer gigi guerrieri. it was released that same year by thick record a sublabel of il discotto productions and became one of the most coveted italo disco 12?s. ?over and over? is a parable that describes the story of a girl growing up, comparing her life to the changes of the moon. signature linn drum and simmons drums create the driving rhythm track that hauntingly sways back and forth. the vocal version has a nearly two minute extended instrumental break in the middle of the song heightening the dramatic pace. on the b-side is a dub version with extended instrumental breaks, bass lines and occasional vocals. both songs are remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. the vinyl is housed in the original jacket featuring a painting by andrea franzoso and includes a double sided postcard with lyrics and notes.

fockewulf 190 was a new wave group from milan formed in 1980 by vittorio barozzi aka victor life and dario dell aere. in 1979 the duo met outside a cinema and began a lifelong collaboration of projects: diamond dogs, ice eyes, demode boulevard and fockewulf 190, named after the model jet planes dario fanatically built. musically, the duo were inspired by the human leagues reproduction and john foxxs metamatic, while they took visual cues from the new romantics visage and ultravox. with the fockewulf 190 moniker, they created their own dark blend of italo disco and new wave, and released two singles in 1984 and recorded an album?s worth of music that eventually saw the light of day in 2010.
