juan sanchez delivers his first single on the raw sounding drumcode limited with two monster sounding tracks. both tracks represent the gritty, tough side of the drumcode spectrum and deliver two peak time tracks that will finish a dancefloor off. using filtering hats, low end rumbles and outlandish beeps, juan sanchez encapsulates the sound of drumcode limited.

a fan of limitations, the maghreban took multi samples from his casio mt-70 keyboard and used only them to make this ep whilst on holiday in north wales last year. most of the tracks were made whilst staying at portmeirion, the strange resort where *the prisoner* was filmed in the late 60s. the maghreban is a fan. the result is more mechanical than previous excursions, dictated by the entirely synthetic source material. no dusty vinyl samples this time. more techno. very early support from ben ufo and lefto.

it might be quite obvious to some of you that follow our little label that we have a thing for schatrax. some would call it an obsession but we simply call it a crush. lets face it, the man has made some of the most timeless deep house from these mighty shores that make up the british isles - what s not to love? so, here he is again with mists a track previously unreleased but unmistakably schatrax. submerged beats, a skippy groove and a simple effective riff are the essence of the track while keep on loving injects a glorious uplifting feel with a bouncing b-line and classic piano riff. flipsides the almighty keeps things deep whilst aliena s groove is one of schatrax s signature tracks with it s haunting melancholic riff keeping the emotions high.

with >danke icke ep< by rodden von ast, you get another highlight from the resopal-schallware label. the 12 contains four tracks from the müritz based producer featuring goosebumps-inducing vocals. due to the constant variation of the grooves danke icke ep opens up every time in a new manner. this is thoughtful, contemplative minimalism in its most organically-structured form and displays the colorful musical palette of rodden von ast.

classic arthur russell 7 inch from the depths of west ends vaults. timely remastered from the original tapes. this is a different version to the honest jons 12 inch released in 2003 with more moog bleeps and a slower tempo and has never been commercially available on vinyl (track run time 2:45). it also includes the uptempo freakout rare as hens teeth instrumental mix. original 7 inches going for up to £200 on discogs and only 12 people in the world showing they own a copy. this release never got passed promo stage at west end in 1980.

norwegian producer thomas urv drops the småskansen ep on his own ploink imprint this april. one of norways leading techno prospects, thomas urv has promoted and played at countless events across the country featuring the likes of jeff mills, juan atkins, derrick may, carl cox, richie hawtin, robert hood and kevin saunderson. when not delivering his three deck performances across scandinavia, spain, france, holland, canada and the uk (for fabric and bestival) the norse producer is firmly focused on ploink and his studio activities. *fuktig sol* leads the ep and is a sinister cut led by a morose hook and syncopated rhythm whilst whirring atmospherics add to a looming tension. the dark undertones continue in *stell/less* although steady kicks construct a vibe better suited towards peak time dancefloor madness. tying up the release *sånn isbre* delivers a frenzy of layered sounds that evolve over the course of a lengthy 16 minutes.

moving to a different city always seems to mark a new time in my life musically. boston has become my new home after living in hartford, ct and new york city before that. the music on this release is a representation of me settling into a new environment. i have slowly realized that the music i make is mostly therapy for myself. it is what i believe that i need to hear at the time in order to be at peace with whatever situation i am in. in that regard, the music is very much who i am.

reissue of elias rahbani & his orchestras super rare arabic disco holy grail *liza liza* on the original lebanese voix de l orient label. recorded pre-civil war at a time when beirut was known as the paris of the middle east, a luxurious holiday destination and flourishing trade centre. the title track is totally out of this world, perfectly blending eastern & western vocals, instruments and musical influences with a driving disco bassline to create an irresistible floor filling cosmic odyssey. the flipside features the even more out-there *from the moon* a fantastic tripped out psychedelic disco funk monster, followed by the dreamy accordion-led *summer love*. also boasting one of the sexiest covers in disco history further illustrating the liberal thinking and western influence in lebanon at the time. highly recommended!

repress 2015 , up first is a rework from hamburgs dj koze, a man with no need for introduction. koze lays into the albums dub track >kawaba<, featuring the voice of japans singer tomomi ukumori. deeply pitched vocals and kozes very own groove give this remix a very special appeal. on the flip, spanish dj and producer affkt, resident of valencias famous barraca club, delivers a peak time tech-house remix of >macleta< which is already causing some storms amongst selected dj sets. more >studio 10< remixes will be released across the next months, watch out!

following gary becks hard-hitting remix of dj rush >she is fine< on bek014, he returns with an ep of solely his own productions. >rascal< brings forward two of his biggest tracks in recent times. the title track, >rascal< returns to garys more familiar sound with swelling pads andsynths clad in fading loops and textures. the track varies in intensity but maintains the groove, as it balances a peak time feel with an almost reflective ambiance. >video siren< is stripped and straight-up techno. it avoids over-complication by keeping the elements to an absolute minimum, highlighting his ability to create atmosphere, tension and drive, using a less is more attitude.

index marcel fengler unearths another berlin-forged gem with a debut release for somewhen. following an impressive pair of eps on his own sana imprint, label boss marcel fengler was quick to invite the newcomer to the imf family. following a pair of head turning performances on line-ups alongside fengler at his berghain home, the time has come for imf 05 to bring somewhens talents to wider attention.
a cut *dain* is a stripped down techno trip engineered for dancefloors at dawn: a siren call to the club’s most battle hardened heads, its subtle machinations will prove deadly in the right dj’s hands. over on the b-side, *aula* is the eps more unpredictable beast, its rougher rave edges rounded off by a rich bass synth and enigmatic vox pads that give the track an unsettling air as it nears its conclusion. xj closes the ep with an insistent slice of acid with somewhens own playful modern twist.

last year we released aaron ahrends first brief embrace ep, which received lots of great feedback. ada (pampa) took newborn and started to do a remix. at the same time she took some larvae as pets and watched their metamorphosis. at the end she released them as butterflies. the tune was highly recommended at here bbqs over the last summer. last year the forgotten birds (karaoke kalk) decided to stop touring as a band. their first and might be last remix at all was created spontaneously in a jam session. enough reason for to be very happy about their awesome gift.

fkclub aka marc lapeyre did it again with the illuminati ep on astrolab. mixing modern synth and old school analog sounds to create a dirty, catchy and powerful track: illuminati. volta is new wav-ish with its dark synth bass and voice, like depeche mode on magic mushrooms. pilooskis remix of illuminati brings the track to a point of dissonance and trippy arp, where the man show us one more time what a flair he has for it.

tresor records is fortunate enough to be sitting on a catalogue of past releases that no other label in electronic music would turn down. three of the &#64257,,,nest in this collection were albums contributed by surgeon, “basictonalvocabulary”, “balance” and “force + form” all originally came out on the berlin institution between 1997 and 1999. surgeon’s inimitable combination of detroit techno and post-industrial sounds emanating from his british homeland found its fullest expression in these masterful trio of releases on tresor. the basictonal-remake 12” accompanied surgeon’s &#64257,,,rst tresor album in 1997, with additional versions as well as a remix by long-time birmingham collaborator mick harris.
