for the 11th release 7777 presents the ghost miners remixes. for these remixes i offered each producer samples from different songs from the 2 ghost miners records. instead of doing straight forward remixes of a single song, i put forth the proposal for each artist to make their own version of a ghost miners song from scratch or using any samples they feel like. contributors include 3 of my favorite producers. 2 in demand artists, fit siegel and andreas gehm and one new comer, brian thrash. andreas gehm s version is a standard acid gehm gem. calling in the chords from the originals mixed with standard gehm acid brilliance. in fit siegel s version you ll find the perfect pure underground dance sound. featuring ray-7 on hand drums fit constructs a remix that combines elements of classic detroit and chicago sound while keeping the attitude and acid aesthetic of the original material. on the b side brian thrash, controlling his analogue arsenal, takes you on an epic acid journey traversing through the underground and space. thank you for your time. - jared wilson

recently appearing on the mighty crosstown rebels with a remix of shaun j. wright & alinka ‘face the truth’, sought after duo audiojack are back serving up a solid two-track release in the form of ‘turya’. turya is built for serious heads down sessions fusing subtle acid pads with soaring synths and sonorous spoken words. the hypnotic quality of the teacher’s words beguiles and entrances the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and its evolving groove. ‘event horizon’ is a different beast altogether, with a heavy drum and bass vibe, a four-four format, and a classic -amen- break beat style. in 2015 audiojack launched their sunday social free party at veto club in their home of ibiza, which after a strong season will continue this year. their first essential mix recently dropped on radio 1 and a string of highly successful releases and remixes on labels such as hot creations, tsuba, 20/20 vision and their own gruuv has solidified their place in the dance music elite. it’s safe to say that 2016 is proving to be a big year for the talented duo.

the second of this year’s smd singles on their own delicacies label is features another two original tracks, leading with the hypnotic, late night techno loping of “remember in reverse”, drenched in glistening synths. the second track, “soft attack” takes a much more direct approach, with a brash battering of crash cymbals on every 4th bar marking time as a sinuous synth melody curls around the rhythmatic trunk. “soft attack (drum version)” pares it down even further, excising the melody for a minimal dj tool. also included here is a remix of ‘remember in reverse” from 90s mid west techno legend, dj hyperactive, who we’re super excited to have on this release. he extensive 11 minute rework transforms the track, sprinkling it with subtle doses of acid. after a short hiatus following their modular-only, desert recorded last album “whorl”, during which smd s james ford found himself on production duties for everyone and their dog, smd are back with bunch of techno cuts on their own delicacies label. over a couple of months in jas shaw s newly re-located synth-dense studio in leafy kent, which saw smd once again experiment with live jams as the basis for their production, they’ve pulled together a selection of eight tracks for release as a series of four singles over the coming months. smd fans will note that the earlier naming convention of delicacies has fallen by the wayside – for the simple reason that we’ve pretty much run out of weird and wonderful food stuffs to steal names from. instead, a semi-random automated process has been used to create the track names.

after some remix projects and a lot of work on their new live set, the next original mix from saitezwei will be released as digital and vinyl release. also for this project, the two guys cooperatedwith the label tach & nacht from hamburg. the song is a mixture of deep and tech house elements with driving drum structures, saite zwei typical harmonies and a lot of variety. despite complex melodies and heavy chords, the entire ep has become very clubby and danceable this time. among other songs, the release will contain a remix of -morja-. the b side comes with an original track by morja called -reborn-. less melody, more groove could be the topic in comparison to his former releases. coming with a tight set of percussion and a phat forward driving bassline, reborn surprises with some contrary played organ sounds adding even more thrust and energy to the tune. definitely a track to remember. the side gets completed by an interpretation of saite zweis -nighting ale-.

one of the most accomplished and celebrated bands in the field of contemporary, unclassified pop music. almamegretta are masters in combining a wide range of elements such as dub, funk, reggae, world and electronica, all filtered through their own deep southern italian roots. the band from naples is now back with a new album, mixed by the dub master adrian sherwood, who had already been involved in their mid-nineties masterpiece “sanacore”. this new work consists of ten tracks, nine originals plus a well chosen cover of an old neapolitan hit by nino d’angelo transformed into a lovers rock style song. almamegretta’s original line up of gennaro t tesone, paolo polcari and raiz is augmented by a great list of collaborators and the result is a strong and multi layered set made of afro-funk numbers, reggae ballads, and other riddims, while the british dub influence remains central within the group’s wide sound palette. the title “ennenne”, which means no name, is inspired by the acronym used for those who are born from unknown parents. the right title for such a highly dense picture based on the combination of contemporary sounds and social topics.

so when stu gardner was rounding up a late night studio session, putting the finishing musical touches to a t.v production he had been commissioned for, he thought he would use the last few hours to record one more song. wow are we glad he did. “don’t fight the love” is making movements in the disco circles and with the modern soul boys. an unnamed female vocalist gives you the performance of her life! this had been sitting dormant until 1980.
summer deal! these two titles in the label’s catalogue carefully thread different periods in mosso’s evolution, showing the continuity of that personal sound defined by precise crafted percussions and playful melodies, appealing to the mind, body and soul. ! kander on the a side immediately sets the club pace with a rolling rhythm that serves as foundation for that classic mosso combination of riffs and counterpoints that build tension thru the song bringing it to an emotional peak before quickly stripping down back to the basics. the beat gently goes on, asking for the next ride of excitement. ! tikjda on the b side shows a similar beat, but we soon discover a completely different mood and tone. the percussions go darker, the meandering melodies become unstable and the timbres get nostalgic. a complex balance of north african drums, orchestra winds and drifting synths, build a song that proves as challenging to access as rewarding for those who give in and immerse themselves.

dirt fishing is the follow-up to ‘slag heap’ nrv001 (a split 12” made up of sounds recorded in a slate mine). this time it comprises of recorded sounds encountered during a day of metal detecting on walthamstow marshes. the recordings include the direct output from the proximity sensor on the metal detector, ambient eld recordings from the environment, conversations with friend and fellow dirt sher, glen, and separate sounds recorded by knocking, tapping and rubbing the found items.
