martyn releases new album voids, his first for ostgut ton over the past year, dutch-born, washington d.c.-based producer martyn has undergone a metamorphosis Ð one that began with a medical emergency and has dovetailed into personal musical transformation. having narrowly avoided death after suffering a heart attack, martyn reentered his studio and began a process of reassessing the elements that drive him to make music: sampling, unpredictability, melancholy, sci-fi, polyrhythms, texture, ecstatic moments, detroit, interlocking percussion and bass. however, the initial spark to start producing again came through his experience listening to max roachÕs 1979 ensemble percussion album mÕboom.

recording and touring together on and off for several years now, sonic journeyman dj vadim and californian songwriter katrina blackstone unveil their long awaited full-length album Ôdouble sidedÕ, released on bbe music. after providing a pair of stellar guest appearances on vadim s 2014 dubcatcher album, katrina blackstone joined vad on tour and the duo have been steadily laying down tracks ever since. eschewing samples in favour of drum machines, guitars and a dizzying array of synths, vadim s compositions on Ôdouble sidedÕ range from dubby downtempo grooves to upbeat afroboogie business. katrina s crystal clear vocals, catchy melodies and highly relatable lyrics provide the perfect foil for vadim s raw productions.

house music broke through in 1987, at the same time when aids arrived in france with the first contamination peak in gay and drug addict circles. in 1989, the founders of act-up paris knew that both the fight against aids and triumphant house music should be joined together. from 1992 to 1995, the period covered by Ò120 bpm-, house reached its most beautiful plateau even though techno was becoming dominant.
