following the announcement that they’ve collaborated with perma-masked zomby on his upcoming lp for hyperdub, behooded hardware manglers rezzett return to home soil for their latest, and perhaps best so far, 12&#8243,,, for the trilogy tapes. with a very defined, redlining approach to techno and hardcore tropes established across their prior output on will bankhead’s label, the duo demonstrate there is still plenty of scope for invention on doyce. in essence you get two versions of the same track either side of this 12 inch.

2016 repress ...the 2nd release on the new aniara label! this is one of the deepest, most intense tracks we have heard in a while! >sinai hypnosis< is a lush and relaxed tracks that slowly builds and builds and just dont push things as so many of the modern house records ... this is a fresh evening breeze slowly turning into a invisible silent tornado sucking you up and dropping you on cloud 9! this is probably the closest we have heard anything come to global communications without copying their sound. the title track comes as extended and dub version. flip side brings >mima<, another kind of ballad with a dubstep/two step beat and a soothing voice, leading you gently into new territories. the nine-piece uk-based reggae unit enjoyed a measure of success in the latter half of the 70s. here s the debut album book of revelation from 1978, re-issued in the original artwork and 180 gram heavy weight vinyl, all re-mastered music and additonal leaflet with liner notes. the longplayer was recorded and mixed by the legendary mark angelo lusardi who worked also with dennis bovell, creation rebel, prince far i, public image limited, and who developed later an outboard eq / filtering device called the mutator, used by numerous recording artists including massive attack, radiohead and daft punk.

firstly, a huge thanks to everyone for supporting us so far - 2016 has seen the dext label continuing to go from strength to strength, with our callahan and mella dee ep s backed with remixes from hodge and endian which have been been super well received. now for the third ep of the year from our resident comedian bodyjack. bodyjack has been an integral part of dext since he remixed dubspeeka on our 2nd release and headlined our label takeover of privilege in ibiza last summer. we are very excited about his return to the label with this 3-tracker (and our first full solo artist ep!), and we think you re going to dig this... the title track cobra effect is one of those tracks you aren t going forget in a hurry. intense and brooding, we are hard-pushed to categorise this, but layers of sinister bass coupled with dark, driving snares and eerie synth work culminate masterfully, making this the perfect dext track. hydra effect lifts the vibe with a straight up peak-time house jam with a sting in the tail. a raw-but-infectious bassline winds along under bodyjack s signature killer drum programming, before blasting off with something you aren t going to expect. rounding the ep off is slowine effect: a proper dancehall workout (reminiscent of bodyjack s earlier work) and a real cross-genre party starter. the most upbeat of the 3 tracks, this again takes all the elements of what we love about the music from the past and cleverly works them into something special for the rave. and that s not all for bodyjack on dext this year - he will be back with a one-off ltd record called -hot shot-, backed with a very special remixer...but more on that soon!

following the release of 2015’s animistas album on mindtours, steevio returns with the fourth and final volume in the modular techno series after starting the project in 2012. initially conceived as he moved his studio practice towards a purely outboard, analogue, modular synthesiser set up, the modular techno series has charted the development of steevio’s exploration of this working practice both on record and on stage. the work involved in live appearances across the uk and europe over the past four years have fed into the creative process, with rehearsals for sets often yielding the material that has ended up on vinyl. volume 4 is arguably the darkest instalment in the series to date, dealing in a strict economy of minimalist rhythms and off-key melodic touches while still easily identified as the unmistakable tones and distinctive grooves of steevio. in the grand tradition of techno as visionary music, the dystopian tone that lingers throughout modular techno vol 4 points to a future of uncertainty, but this is far from nihilistic music, always within the darkness remains a glimmer of hope.

jeremiah r has been responsible for some of the finest electro to be released over the past few years, with his mini albums for tabernacle records being particularly potent. here he launches the distant wave label with eight more chunks of atmospheric, far-sighted futurism. as usual, he flits between ambient style interludes and more expansive dancefloor fare. in the latter category you ll find the motor city techno futurism of -bermuda triangle-, the glistening idm loveliness of -streaming to arcadia-, the larry heard-in-space deepness of -cruiser-, and the drexciyan throb of -jar (jamming avoidance response)-. all are, naturally, both luscious and pleasingly melodious, whilst retaining an intergalactic sense of atmosphere.

launched in 1996, ploink has been a core brand in norwegian techno for two decades now, booking the likes of jeff mills, juan atkins, derrick may, carl cox, radio slave and richie hawtin, as well as launching a record label that champions scandinavian artists. with the likes of prins thomas, mental overdrive, nordenstam, mind over midi and label founder thomas urv appearing thus far, 96-16#3 is the third and final instalment in the 20-year celebratory releases.

alex suarez is part of a new breed of producers based out of brooklyn carving out their own unique sound experimenting in the world of raw primordial electronics. under the name cienfuegos, he has prior releases on brooklyn s primitive languages imprint as well as the france s unknown precept label-with his new -lost in god s country- ep we see him debut on the new york centered bank records. through the four tracks cienfuegos harkens back to the time of early industrial music, not far off from the early transmissions of spk or even hinting at sounds akin to e.g. oblique graph. suarez has a knack for developing textures and tension in his music sewing it all together with plodding rhythms and the occasional creeper vocal. heavyweight stuff coming most highly recommended.

argentine producer leonel castillo unveils yet another moniker with this new eponymous 77ks series. remaining the best-kept secret the latin american electronic music scene has brought to us so far, leonel is an icon and at the same time virtually unknown. a stylistic chameleon and an ultra talented jack-of-all-trades, he is hard to pinpoint, and even harder to categorize. surfacing at random, he’s been releasing music as leonel castillo and under various aliases – arnold slab, boeing or unknown artista are some of his monikers – on labels as diverse as ilian tape, sushitech, airdrop and his own imprint groovear.

heated heads delves into another dark corner of the american experiment, this time via the lone star state. graig clouse s shit & shine project has been a mainstay of the underground for well over a decade, having released unique sides for legendary labels like rhode island s load, riot season, gangsigns, powell s diagonal imprint, rocket recordings, conspiracy outta belgium and the inimitable editions mego, to name but a few. for this 12-, $&$ has invoked the ghosts of cb radio via the us trucking fraternity - 4 cut n shut jams that defy regular definition. backed so far by the likes ron morelli (l.i.e.s), the trilogy tapes, bill converse, jon k, nina (golden pudel), shapednoise

hard edged metallic beat techno, shawn o sullivan picks up right we he left off on his last -this coercion pt.i- ep earlier this year. again we get driving, sharp machine music not so far from the birmingham school of the 90s sound with this latest ep. o sullivan has a knack with eloquently pummeling the listener as demonstrated here, the track fully automated being the perfect example as it airs out midway through taking a break from the punishment. top stuff..

bristols banoffee pies are back with their 11th edition. but as far it goes musically: this certainty aint bristol! starting out with the smoothly reduced tendencies of local lad christian jays rhotic which sounds inspired by the sounds of trelik, there s more of the same (albeit much dubbier and smoked out) on starry nite life courtesy of utrecht s larry de kat very paranoid afterhour vibes on this one! on the flip we ve got some more dubbed out fare courtesy of christian jay, again, who enlists a bit of help from crump on the rusty and dust coated gg3. all caps artist florist adds a touch of vancouver to proceedings with the squelchy dj tool blacky.

forceful, industrial and acidic, kamera’s ‘consignia’, taken from his ep ‘ventoux’, arrives reworked by two producers each as uncompromising as the source material. truncate steps up to delivers a remix that further encapsulates his precise vision of deep, raw techno. choosing to boldly strip back the foundations of the original track, his powerful rework performs subtle but precise surgery, creating a tense masterpiece of sustain and release, enveloping the dancefloor in thunderous claps and jittering rave samples. meanwhile, the so far elusive yaleesa hall is tapped for an offbeat, dub version of consignia, twisting the track into something altogether darker and stranger. a muddied, dare we say filthy bassline supports a chaotic framework of unpredictable drum patterns and mechanized noise, while still maintaining a hallucinogenic groove as the track’s original elements gasp for air underneath.

lastly, she owns the game is the most melodic of the lot, with a far sighted ripple of keys, spaced out atmospheres and muttered vocal lines all making for something that is truly from another world.

i-f, helena hauff & intergalactic gary favourite! double artist debut on bio rhythm, delivering its darkest release so far. despite all corporate techno gentrification rises mirror man, from the ashes of what once was this dirty dystopian hardcore heaven, and he s a mean motherfckr who has been battering us with his haunting dj mixes already for a while. on the flip the pleasure gets even darker with satanist west coast act leaders of the wild hunt on remix duties. the beauty of paranoia... perfect soundtrack for the summer of 2016.

our latest looking for mushrooms ep comes to us from a collaboration between long time dirt crew resident tigerskin and gifted jazz pianist and composer grambow. we first heard from grambow when his fluid key stylings featured on tigerskins faint in 2015. the title track is a suspenseful and moody journey, lead by live double bass from feature artist das eb. building in intensity with tigerskins warm production and steady percussive instrumentation until grambows live lead on a gritty synth growls in over the top. a true modern electronic classic as far as we are concernred. tsukiji is a playful deep house groover. balmy tuned percussion and shaken highs roll along under the light hearted piano which cruises along throughout the whole tropically touched endeavour. this track has party written all over it! octocat is a tougher italo disco tainted work out, tightly programmed live and analogue percussive elements push along, while wailing keys lick over a tenacious grunting bass. you can really taste and feel the long studio sessions the guys had to compose this great track. it is so much more than generic dance music. red fox is a divine culmination of the pairs compositional prowess and dance music knowhow. a cinematic and spirited house track that glides and glistens via delicate piano, plucky percussive riffs, bright strings and woodwinds. we are very honoured to release this outstanding musical release by tigerskin and grambow.

baldos next ep is released on good ratio music, the label run by himself and his buddy carlo. as far as we remember the barcelona based producer had always an affinity for dirty drum-machines rhythms and buzzing analog sounds. baldo can be recognised by his choice of style, a fierce and confident house, pure in intent and effective in execution. and this is exactly what you should expect in this new ep. for the eighth instalment of the label they have the remix coming directly from nyc. the boss of lets play house, jacques renault has remixed the change, giving to the track a whole different mind to the track and making a round ep, ready to roll this summer.

the clone basement series dedicated to the true spirit of techno and music that excels in a dark smokey and isolated basement (including the dark corners of your brain) comes up with its first album release. this album explores the spiritual side of techno with a full length album by finnish artist aleksi perala constructed from parts of the various colundi sequence levels presented so far. this is a limited triple album containing the spirit of the colundi sequence and showcasing the multiplicity of emotions and conditions as defined through the colundi scales.

basil & rogers is a sleazy, california disco duo made up of heru (dj) johnny basil and body rogers. basil, a multi-instrumentalist, long-time record collector, and energy healer is a man that s been making music for a long time under many different guises and in many different styles. heru avenger (acid/psych rock), non stop (electronic/free jazz), baast (kraut rock/jazz funk), and kandi jones (slut rock) are just a few of his projects, past and present. most of this music has been around for the entirety of the 90 s and 2000 s without being heard because despite basil s outspoken appearance (described by many as looking like iggy pop s twin brother and would never be caught wearing a t-shirt no matter the location) he s very quiet about his musical output. body rogers is also part of the non stop group and is a master of electronics and engineering. on the basil & rogers project the two have made a disco 12- that is influenced by classic-era dance music while still being completely unique and far from conforming. it s crazy, it s sexy, and it s sleazy. tune in .

ebony goes first with real truth and offers a track that is both punchy and powerful thanks to its raw and thumping drums, but spiritual and serve thanks to the pained and soul infused vocal wails up top. glistening glass pads and over sized hi hats add to the intensity of this classy rave banger. r then serves up focus, eight minutes of freaky and hypnotic techno with creepy voices moving about the space as distorted kicks and droning reverb brings a physical feel. it s intense and dark and then comes colossus, a breakbeat driven track with heavenly pads making for a grand and atmospheric headspace. cosmic signifiers and far off pads add to the serenity of it all and will leave you with both a heavy heart and a stomping foot.

nice price deal !!! it’s been nearly two years since the last sanys record. in the meantime, techno has flirted with noise and industrial, often resulting in gloomy self-indulgence. thankfully, there is no such creative verbiage on this seventh instalment of downfall theory. “seizure” starts the release with a robust, stepping rhythm and relentless stabs playing out against atmospheric, eerie textures. it’s like shed’s wax project jamming with deepchord. next up is ‘natural high’. this is one of sanys’ darkest moments so far, inspired by the depth and length of the st petersburg winter, it sees the russian producer lay down a visceral, muddy rhythm, against which ghostly shrieks and waves of frosty chords, blown in from the baltic sea, meet.
