long time minimal techno pusher franklin de costa steps up to jersey city label green village to thrown down a ruckus with four serious cuts of advanced house and techno. -derp journal- may be flippant in name, but the bassline it packs is not to be trifled with, nor the edgy drums and lashings of reverb. -bogart space- is a more house-minded affair, but it s still reaching to a contemplative space using unfamiliar sounds. -good day bad day- gets into a cyclical, psychedelic mood thanks to a trippy synth circling overhead, but then the ep gets dealt a tough finishing blow by the cranked up hustle of -flashmelo-, coming on like a crunchy mid 00s minimal jam of the highest order.

as we welcome another talented artist to our family we asked viken about the first part of a two part release and he told us it s really important to understand that this ep is a series of pictures telling a story. combining the names of all the tracks one gets this interesting and dreamy sentence, on a blue road a white shadow feels the winter. to translate these pictures into music, i needed a very particular sound. since i am a huge fan of jazz music i took one of my favorite records, used a lot of samples and reworked them in my own way. from the technical aspect, i decided to reconnect with my first love: analog machines. i love working with sound textures. i stayed away from my laptop and all my vst/plugins as i felt the need to compose these tracks in an unusual way: i wanted the sound to be really pure. that s the reason why this process was so essential for me. for me, this ep is the first one to sound like this. this is the first of two releases from a deeply talented soul. a patient collage of house, jazz, acid squiggles and deep emotion. played and loved all summer long by lee burridge at all day i dream, these tracks will stay with you through winter and into next summer.

for over five years, all day i dream has been where deep and emotive meet house music. propelled by a community of forward thinking artists drawn around the scion of master curator and sunset/sunrise set specialist, lee burridge. all day i dream formally welcomes lost desert to the label with the release of lingala, a two-track collaborative effort with burridge himself, that also features junior on vocals. lost desert was picked out of obscurity after burridge discovered his music while trekking in a remote area of a long lost land. a fast forged friendship inevitably lead to the studio, and lingala’s the enrapturing sophomore result. the duo’s first project together debuted on lee’s night time imprint, get weird, earlier this year to widespread support. lingala, is a beautifully composed ten-minute sonic journey. built around a mystical lead vocal sung by newcomer junior in his native linagles the raw emotion slowly builds in intensity over propulsive basslines and deep melodic grooves . gorje hewek & izhevski’s interpretation of lingala is a markedly different affair. focussing on musical layers rather than the vocal the duo’s signature spacey atmospheres and minimal rhythmic percussion add extra strings creating uplifting moments that contrast the original’s mood.

death on the balcony s ‘tides of fortune has been the subject of relentless -track id- requests pleading us to reveal the name of the artist and track since be-at-tv streamed the bpm performance of lee burridge and matthew dekay back in 2015. joined on the ep by three other tracks there s a cohesive feel to the two friends vibe. mysterious melodies drift in and out of the hypnotic grooves on rivers of sound that could have soundtracked a star trek episode from the original series. 1700 miles is delicate and deep with a simple infectious vocal sample. don t be deceived though. when played on a club system the kick drum and bassline draw you in while the atmospheric elements send the listener to otherworldly places. we feel rather privileged as this track is mark’s first solo outing from dotb under his new moniker “caramelli” and dotbs first full length on all day i dream. mark’s back in the band for memories of the future which completes the release with its funky bass and trippy ambience. close your eyes and be transported.
