just in case someone might have forgotten: stil vor talent is based in berlin. and this ep by sascha braemer, one part of heinrich & hirtenfellner, proves just that. braemer, whos just been at the top of everybodys dj charts with his funk-laden minimal soul piece >mamba drums< on kindisch records, has donated three tracks to oliver koletzkis imprint that mirror what this city is best know for: funky minimal grooves. first up there is >ghost track< a typical dry minimal loop with a rhythmically in touch vocal sample that is then juxtaposed by a simply astonishing piece of melody. goose bumps and groove humps on the floor - guaranteed! on the flip: >girl<. here braemer has created a dubby piece of tech house that floats towards a soulful vocal and some beautiful strings. this is one for the early morning, or in berlin, the late afternoon, those times when everything seems in perfect harmony with each other. last up is >guitar man<, yet another very sample-based stripped down loop with one riff of an echoed guitar being the protagonist. when that riff is fully played out, we all know its summer. but it wouldnt be berlin if there werent some dark wobbly basslines seemingly destroying this but in fact creating the perfect combination of soft and hard, of light and dark. on top of this the vocal sample >i wont leave< perfectly encapsulates the vibe of the praised berlin afterhour. stil vor talent is back at home with this ep.

this is the one you ve all been waiting for, the bad science ep from the mighty rustie. amazingly enough for an artist who has such an huge impact over the last year this is only his second full ep. i could go for on days about how good it is but best not eh. it all kicks off with the fractured hip-hop weirdness of tar and then swiftly moves into the massive bad science. we ve been seeing folk go crazy to bad science and rightly so, its an anthem and has getting properly hammered by kode9 and mark pritchard to name a few. its then on to the out there 8 bit bleepage of shadow enter. the b-side is now dedicated to the now legendary zig-zag and wireblock have really done themselves pround with this one by going straight to one of rustie s hero s the legendary henrich mueller (dopperleffekt, drexciya, arpanet etc) to add his own electro-physics sound to the aquatic mentalness of the original track. it comes to an end with zig zag (reprise), now the original was daft enough but this just to pushes it even further into new realms of madness. buy, buy, buy!

2020vision bring you a superb snapshot of the underground amsterdam scene. following his massive remix of the simon baker track æway out of my headÆ, julien chaptal steps up for his debut 2020 single, with fellow amsterdam based producer lauhaus on remix duties. julienÆs album ætokensÆ on key dutch label remote area is one of the best long players to bubble up from the underground this year. although a parisian at heart, julienÆs been living in amsterdam for almost a decade and has become a must-see name on the live techno circuit in holland. the underground amsterdam electronic underground is one of the most respected scenes in europe. spearheaded by labels like 100% pure, intacto and remote area and producers like shinedoe, 2000 and one, kabale und liebe & daniel sanchez, bart skils & anton pieete, polder, lauhaus & boris werner and julien chaptal himself. lauhaus is another in demand producer from amsterdam and his recent remixes of æflowingÆ by the bluesmen and æpay for meÆ by daniel steinberg have been hits on the underground house and techno scenes.

everyone knows this feeling, when a hook line of a track wont let you go. one says it is a tune wedgie, even if it sounds a bit weird in the clubbing scene. but never you mind, you just start singing out of the blue. olene kadar just hit the bulls eye with >yipyippyip<. this track impresses with an extraordinary addicting ragga vocal and puts on top his breathtaking freaky beat wrapping. one wonders where to put this into a greater content: musical seriousness or simply the fun factor. but in the end people always go crazy, when olene kadar rocks one of the countless parties in holland. the artist playing right after him faces a difficult time. that is what dave aju might have had in mind. his remix heads for another direction. very relaxed and reduced to the bare essentials he slows down the tempo to garnish this fantastic groove with the vocals and e-piano chords. so cool. on the flip you will find the dashing rave monster >neal deepersma<, that brings olene kadars former releases on mos ferry back to mind. on the label website you will get a free bonus download called >looking for an<.

to those of you who know your techno, shawn rudiman should be a well-known name. a prolific producer, he has nevertheless always kept his quality control on a tight leash, and releases on 7th city, technoir audio, integrated, dust science & matrix (amongst others) have brought him a reputation of being one of the finest producers around of contemporary detroit style (aka melodic) techno. a nice taster on the last minimalsoul release (sashimi hi) has hence led on to a full ep, and its classic stuff...tough beats and esoteric but catchy melodies all tied up with an expansive production ethic make for a great listen, and (perhaps unusually with this style of music) for a great dancefloor experience too!

its been a while since the last rsb release, but then tracks like this dont come along every day! for their first vinyl appearance on a label other than their own, enigmatic german duo ancient methods do the honourable thing and break out the whip, a track that comes across like a 2-step party in the foundry of thor himself. lets lazily label it anvil techno, because as far as we are aware no has yet invented a genre that adequately desribes music such as this. and as we have come to expect, much the same can be said of the evil sickness that is eat like hawks by bjorn svin (with a little help from karsten pflum, jona olesen & copyflex!). it starts like it means to go on, with a gnarled loop and indecipherable distorted vocals, and is gradually tweaked and augmented to the point of destruction. all manner of ill bass, overdriven filters, zaps, clanky drums & feedback join the party before the whole affair is brought to an abrupt end by the strange foreign lady that we have come to know and love over the course of the track. truly music for small, sweaty, strobe-driven cellars.

art (applied rhythmic technology) finally returns! after collaborating with the now defunct new religion label for most of the past decade, art productions once again have their own imprint. art 8 sees label founder and owner kirk degiorgio with a nice 3-tracker covering peak-time club material all the way to his trademark, deep emotional electronica. art records returns when we need it most!

superb sounding reissue of azotos 1981 italo disco masterpiece >san salvador<. originally released back in 1981 on italys tiny vedette records, this monster track with its slamming latin groove, killer bass, uplifting vocals and house-style piano never fails to ingite the dancefloor. nearly thirty years after its original release, it still receives heavy rotation by any of the top disco jocks lucky enough to have a copy. produced by italo innovator celso valli, the man responsible for macho, passengers and tantra to name but a few. also featuring the highly sought-after instrumental version, this classic is a must for all fans of good time party music. first class!

the 12inch has been eagerly anticipate, jsl brings 2 epic tracks to this imprint. both tracks are set to do big damage as they have been heavily supported by some of the scenes big guns. double time drums make the tracks work well on the dance floor as well as on the air wave...

moleculez returns to meta4 ready to clear dancefloors with some of his most destructive material to date. you know you are dealing with some serious dance music when none of the tracks on a release have vocal samples. the opening track, future in progress, is blessed with a wonderfully deep kickdrum that would probably even sound good at plus20, although we havent tried that yet. out of a nowhere the track suddenly seems to have stopped when an eerie melody creeps out of the dark. this sets the tone for the rest of the release: dark, driving and threatening. gargoyle is the most driving. lava bomb the eeriest: and future in progress the most threatening. thats what we think, anyway. you decide. the last two tracks on this release are probotector and the haunted. the first is actual textbook honest to goodness industrial hardcore while the latter isnt really anything we can talk about here. highly recommended because we want to sell records

an excellent comilation if the fine future times label that has 4 tracks by beautiful swimmers, sensual beings, max d and protct u... as fairly unknown producers doing some shit hot disco funk and pure house tracks that would have been regulars in larry levans box, if he still would have been around. not sure where all these guys all of a sudden come from... but some seriously good music here!

after a number of successful eps with his musical partner nuno dos santos on compost black label (their release have been supportet by big names like joris voorn, richard dorfmeister, mijk van dijk, karotte, alex attias, dubfire) its time for tj kongs first solo release feat house legend from the very first hour, mr. elbee bad.

this one was a smash all last year at the john waynes beach parties and its not hard to see why. beautiful and hypnotic naive melodies intertwine with a gently bumping rhythm with plenty enough groove to get you off the sun lounger and dancing on the beach/by the pool/on the roof (delete as applicable). perfect for the summer that keeps threatening to happen in the uk but that we never quite seem to have, time to go on holiday. theres a killer piano part that comes in later in the second half after the clip finishes

thanks to the blinding fabric live mix and a series of highly entertaining interviews the demand for new omar-s product is now at an all time high. hes on top form here with three fresh cuts representing his sound to the fullest. opening track flying blind is a must have for fans of the deeper omar s tracks like psychotic photosynthesis. following that up is still serious nic which is probably my favourite track on the record, its got that heavily monged out raw omar-s machine vibe to it. things straighten out a bit on the b-side thanks to the smoothed out vocal house of left him up. then it finishes off with the deep house of flying gorgars. once again omar-s proves hes too steps ahead of the deep house pack. essential

yep, thats right. synth pop sensations heartbreak remixed by the horrors. tom furse from the horrors has a fearsome collection of analogue synths and used them to rebuild this track from heartbreaks debut album from the ground up, and a killer job hes done too. as ali and sebastian from heartbreak both release on dissident their label lex thought it would be a good idea if dissident did the 12 inch release. obviously due to the nature of this release and the addition of the combined horrors / heartbreak fanbase its pretty much an instant collectors item and will fly out of the door at a fair old rate of knots so please make sure you order enough to keep everyone happy, i doubt well have any of these left by the end of the week. the clip is taken from the second half of the track as it turns into a glorious cosmic synthesizer orgy, theres plenty of arpeggiated trackiness before it gets to this bit

slam bring us the third chapter in their devestating paragraph series, following up their dancefloor destroyer, hot knives that was played by the biggest djs around and dubbed as one of carl craig s favourites of the last few months. the label s previous releases have already had big support from the rest of the techno fraternity, including legends richie hawtin, adam beyer, dubfire, anja schneider, len faki and francois kevorkian.
paragraph number 3 delivers some deep, bass-heavy electronic funk on the a-side, with one note samba . grooving from the off-set, the percussive elements of the track wind around a solid and heavy sub bass, introducing dubbed-out horns reminiscent of slam s freelance science days. hypnotic and tripped out, slam return to their house roots.
on the aa room 2 , dedicated to one of the world s best clubs, fabric, where slam hold a residency, keeps with the stripped-down, rhythmic and gritty sound of paragraph. whilst constantly fluctuating echoes and delays control the rhythm of the track, a swirling, yet straight to the point synth creates some frenzied and panic-inducing builds throughout, leading to a wholesome and satisfying ride cymbal. room 2 is a killer, peak-time track that will be sure to induce some serious convulsions on dance-floor.

after the smash that was shatnereffekt one, handsette recordings return, bringing a host of diverse and super talented artists from around the world together on one massive ep and another essential array of electronic music.
kicking off the ep is kritical audios >spandex<, a tune that comes slow on the heels of the swedish duos 2006 braindance monster >krupp<. the swedish duo have come with an itchy slice of razor sharp electrofunk with a burbling acid bassline thats currently being caned by surgeon and rob hall (who says, i ve been playing the kritical audio track a lot. good stuff )... this is a big tune!
next up we have miles tilmanns >spirex< which starts with a wonky off beat that gives way to some wacked-out rubbery bassline action and a lead line that could have come from the keyboard hands of harold faltemeyer or parliaments bernie worrell.
following that is c. mantles >that other eden<. fearsome and delicate, morose and savage, >that other eden< is a serious piece of dancefloor heft with reese basslines burbling under a clattering beat before dropping away into a slightly terrifying double-drop breakdown.
unity gain temples >sahmo< rounds out the ep with a glistening, truly beautiful piece of work. the heavy kicks of the intro are met by a rush of lush chords and deft touches of melody, driving the track into a space that is pure audio luxury and reminiscent of brothomstates, arovane and tippers more contemplative moments.

dave huismans aka 2562 with his a made up sound project. archive contains four raw house tracks from the vaults with their roots in detroit and chicago house. ‘bounce’ and ‘disconnect’ combine the best of two worlds: the more traditional sample based house grooves and the spacious sounds and wrenching sub bass that have become his trademark. the same goes for the other two tracks... ‘wire’ is a phat acid track with a great drive. a strange atmosphere and a unique combination of classic structures with new and old sounds. this track will make sure that the sweat is dripping off those basement walls! ‘on&on’ has that catchy drunken beat slightly reminding of some theo parrish productions... finished with futuristic technoid synth stabs and pulsating acid-ish bass sounds that make this a great abstract & stripped-down house work out! killer!

altair nouveau is among the spaciest of dfaÆs recent signings, a producer clearly as in love with the soundtracks of john carpenter as he is with italo covers of classic rock tunes. >space fortress< saves its best for the final two minutes with a synthesized trumpet lead thatÆll have you either pumping your fist or reaching for the off switch. >showdown<, meanwhile, more adequately gets at mitchellÆs soundtrack love, with its pleasantly percolating backing track giving a chance to various sounds to prove their worth. >sorcerer< embraces the hints of flourish that mitchell dropped in spots elsewhere, and goes full-on with the funk. itÆs tough, well-produced and a little bit funny to listen to in the privacy of your own homeùjust like the 80s soundtrack music that it so readily recalls.

determined to write a new chapter in nycs long history of dance music, marcos cabral and jacques renault (think dfa, rekids, im a cliche, wurst edits, chinatown, editions disco, rvng, trapez, and more) have decided to launch their own record label on the prowl. with a heavy nod to american classic house, techno, and disco, otp listeners should expect a variety of sound that will propel them to dance for years to come. the first otp instalment entitled the poltergeist throws a heavy blow of dark acid bass, todd terry-esque stabs, and proper dubbed out distortion for a feeling that will leave listeners floored... leaving even the most stubborn of listeners open for more. house music, raw and unrestricted. the b-side, not to be overshadowed, brings us dont block the box. an a-side in its own right, delivering us good old fashioned house music with hypnotically filtered samples and pulsing arms in the air swells of resonance.

demetrio giannice is an italian swiss living in zurich & very active in the underground house scene. he recently released on his own enterbt records label (enterbt means disinherited in german), and soon to be released on drumpoet. third ear recordings have had this ep for more than a year. we ve been itching to get these deep house jams out there ever since we got them, and now here they are.

teaming up with the legend that is francois dubois. the first time the pair have worked together since the labels first release. the pair turn out a devastating house workout. deep warm synths, and heavy, killer keys, create a wonderfully moody, traditional workout, ready for all floors. on the flip, h turns to irish don and barcelona resident chymera, who turns in an electrified version of the original. injected with more pace and power than the original, the elements from the lead track hit he floor with added urgency. a great tech-infused cut, that will find favour across the board.
