this ep marks a newbeginning in my career. since some time now, >the fog burns off< and we get more and more stable in the buisness. last year we were on the road quite a bit and we found many new friends. people from other cities, who believe in the same things, who do similar stuff and who are of the same kidney as we are. so that makes me very happy, which reflects in the music. for the first time i feel like coming home, although we are at the beginning of our journey into the industry yet.

little is known about mysterious producer tommy rawson. our first acquaintance was the aptly named shy track on red rackems smugglers inn 001 release. we tried to find out more but the trail got cold pretty quick. it was not until hearing gilles peterson playing a version of hugh masekelas dont go lose it baby on his show that word got around, tommy rawson was back. this particular anthemic track found its way to mats who then started playing it out and every time, in every club no matter where in the world the reaction was same, people completely lost it on the dance floor! we had but no choice to release the track and luckily enought tommy must have a sixth sense because at the same time mats blasted the track at the local talk office to convince tooli shouting: this is the next big release for local talk, i m telling you! another track made it into his mailbox, the soulful house jam brenda done died with no name. both tracks ended up on this 12 inch of course. mr rawson has delivered the goods here, warm, sunsplashed music all the way. a name to watch for this year and probably not mysterious for long.

derek kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13. prior to this, with dj equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation. his work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, greg wilson, buying derek s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented dj career.

the mysterious detroitrocketscience project is back for a third vinyl-only excursion into deep space, with two more cosmic journeys. the sub-space signals and minimalism and heartbeat intro of zeta-reticuli 4 give way to deep, introspective strings as we journey through the interstellar gate to our titular destination, a class-m world in the zeta-reticuli system. cosmic. meanwhile on the b-side, the melancholy-yet-minimal xetra takes the listener ever deeper into unexplored, zero-gravity soundtrack realms while still retaining its requisite, earth-based, (neo-) detroit-style machine soul.
