Opening track, ‘Zero $’ carves out a chugging 4x4 beat that soon becomes overrun with dark and dischordant synth tones and a stripped back bass line that buzzes with reverb. This is house at its most ominous. Catz ‘N Dogz drag the track back into the light for the remix, filling gaps with skippy and spirited drum lines, replacing moodiness with movement. ‘Cityz Angels’ presents groove driven house at its finest, as Baytala releases and silences a mirage of keys, synths and machine vox sounds in time with the kick drum to create a complex, yet satisfying dance floor mover. Pillow Talk instantly latch onto this stylish nonchalance for their ‘Cityz Angels (MT’s Pillow Talk remix)’, bringing a freestyle jazz breakdown to their laidback, rhythmic rework.
