rediscovered 80’s british acid house gem ‘cortina kidz’ recently made a serious impact on andy butler’s mr. intl with remixes from factory floor and juan maclean & tim sweeney. hot on the heels, moscow’s lipelis’ steps in to remix with striking results. pitchfork enthused of the recent reissue being “a chilly acid-house track operating the influence of both soft cell and the specials,’ xlr8r as “drenched in dark and sleazy overtones, the track encapsulates a downtrodden time in london”, while ransom note noted “cortina kidz is more than just an old skool oddity- it s a banger that s stood the test of time”. originally recorded on london’s stoke newington road in 1987, produced by a young tim brinkhurst ahead of his imminent record deal with virgin records with his band soho, and long before his current role as manager of mercury prize winners, young fathers, ‘cortina kidz’ remained undiscovered and the eccentric spoken word overlay and weird lead vocal made it very unlike the prevailing dance music sound of the time. leonid lipelis explains that “since it’s a reissue of a relatively unknown record it gave me a certain freedom of expression (when it’s something well known and classic you re likely to produce something more serious). i came up with more of a pop song, structured with a vocoder for the main version and had fun playing with vocal samples for the dub mix, paying homage to the 80s sound in both.- lipelis’ recent release on lies records has gained him support from four tet to dimitri from paris. he also runs a side project for hardware jams called tmo and co-runs low budget family records.

welcome to the second release on a new record label, real balearic. we are record label based in ibiza and london. we were set up by the team who brought you the world famous real ibiza series of compilations and released the very first cafe del mar compilation. we are passionate about music and in particular music with a thread that runs to the musical sounds of ibiza and the balearic islands. whilst we may chill out with the best of them it is not what we are all about. balearic techno, balearic disco, ambient soundscapes, classical interludes, sun-drenched chords, sunset grooves, moon-washed rhythms, and just about anything that grabs us.

* the time has come for scar to broaden its horizons. as a production duo survival & script initially made a name for themselves by supplying rugged dancefloor workouts but there is a much larger story to tell here and with the orkyd project album this story will be told. * production collaborations have been kept to an absolute minimum aside from vocal features, naomi pryor is the ever present voice of the album with further contributions from eleanor higgins and ray uptown. * the influences for the orkyd project shine a further light on the story, from bill withers to massive attack via eric b and rakim. * when initial conversations took place between goldie and scar regarding the album goldie gave the guys full license to create whatever they wanted and what we have been given is a melting pot of 2016 london music. soul exists beside screw face. * it s important to note that drum n bass hasn t been abandoned by any means, the hall marks of scar are ever present and correct- the blue print has just been expanded upon

aphex twin aka richard d. james meldet sich mit der fantastischen -cheetah ep- zurück, auf der er mit deepem und melodischem techno und acid im früh-90er-style überrascht. benannt ist die ep nach dem synthesizer cheetah ms800, eines der am schwierigsten zu programmierenden instrumente der welt, mit dem richard die meisten dieser tracks aufnahm. das artwork ist ebenfalls im 90er-retro-style gehalten. cd und tape enthalten einen weiteren bonustrack, der dem vinyl per download-code ebenfalls beigefügt ist.

und, mor elian is a relatively new name on the block, but her deft tastes have seen her share the stage with the likes of kerri chandler, mike dunn, seven davis jnr, dj qu and many more, and most recently, releasing her debut vinyl release on the excellent prime numbers label, featuring fxhes ob ignitt on remix duties. on drum vortex, mor strikes a killer release for hypercolour, enlisting two big remixes on the release from joey anderson and markus suckut. on her original mix, drum vortex rolls out a ricocheting drum workout that indeed goes through the vortex, otherworldly voices and cosmic drones sit in the middle of the mix whilst the rides and hats intensify. joey anderson has proven himself as one of the most diverse house producers out there, with offerings for dekmantel, syncrophone recordings and tanstaafl planets. joey remodels drum vortex into an old style warehouse dub, rolling congas and snares with incessant synth stabs and bending strings, making up for one serious remix from mr. anderson. another interpretation is on offer from markus suckut, whose techno prowess has shone for labels like rekids, be as one, mosaic and his own exile label (run with johannes heil)

french producers dj deep and traumer pair up for their debut on radio slave’s rekids. a key component in parisian techno since the ‘90s, dj deep’s influence is indisputable whether it’s helming deeply rooted house records, launching his own rotary dj mixer series or his numerous appearances on tresor records alongside gettraum founder roman poncet, who appears on this release as traumer. ‘la valle la b’ comes in three forms. the ‘la deep mix’ is an echoing number complete with rhythmic percussion and rumbling bass, whilst ‘la slave mix’ is a glitchier alternative featuring various subtle nuances and otherworldly atmospherics. finally ‘la spicy mix’ concludes the package with a focus on piercing synths and a compelling groove.
