having established itself with innovative releases from the likes of lucy, blawan and roots in heaven, the experimental zehnin label now looks to paleman for four more fierce tracks. now often releasing on his own plmn label, this classically and jazz trained artist has previously won plenty of fans and plaudits for heavyweight rollers on labels like swamp 81, 81 and school records. emerging from the ashes of dubstep to come up with his own deep techno sound, he is a rinse fm regular with his experimental show ‘trenches and mirrors this exploration with tracks full of texture, modular synthesis and visceral percussion. opener ‘2068 is a dark and foreboding bit of economical techno. monolithic kicks set a forceful groove below as they rock back and forth, and factory floor sounds, scurrying little sonic details and rattling hits all peel off the groove as it powers on

nicolas lattansio, aka shit, was raised in temperley, a small borough in the city of buenos aires, argentina. in 1996, he had his first encounter with electronic music and has been inseparable ever since. hes in love with the beats and the dance floor. his tracks are played by the likes of djs pareja, alejandro paz, carisma and mijo. hes the founder and resident dj of te re cagamos la fiesta and tokyo, the festival. he defines his music as indie techno, with strong beats, vocals and plenty of attitude. without a doubt, shit is one of the most powerful projects in the neighborhood. the solo en la pista ep shows shit s veritable force in the blooming indie-techno scene growing out of mexico and south america, and the remix with mexico city s ali x x ximena (former azari iii) is an extremely strong dance floor track that has proven itself upon many floors and festivals from burning man and beyond over the course of 2017 in preparation for it s public launch this year.

dark entries is honored to re-issue one of the greatest and most overlooked albums of the 1970s. time actor was the result of a collaboration between legendary crazy world & kingdom come visionary arthur brown and german synthesizer and ambient genius klaus schulze, recording under the pseudonym of his alter-ego richard wahnfried. richard is the name of klaus son born in 1979, and the first name of the german composer wagner. wahnfried is the name of richard wagners house, from the german -wähnen frieden fand (that his search and hopes will find peace). the album was a unique fusion of brown s eccentric musical vision and schulze s mastery of synthesis. the album was originally released in 1979 on the german innovative communication label. time actor stands out amongst schulze s massive catalog as a masterwork of avant garde new age. schulze helms the project on electronics, and guests include michael shrieve on percussion, vincent crane on keyboards, and vocalist arthur brown, who sings – or should we say, speaks – on top of it all. schulze describes the wahnfried project in the liner notes as “the collective pseudonym of an idea: time-electronic, an experiment between avantgarde and muzak: utility-music for sound-covered environment, in which a new generation grows up: richard wahnfried is this generation: music between genius and nonsense: new ideas transported by an old medium to your ear.” this newly re-mastered reissue expands the original 60 minutes of music across a double lp to help with playback and distortion experienced on original pressings. we’ve added a bonus track in the form of a cosmic 12-minute extended remix by italian producer and dj maurizio delvecchio from 1983. all songs have been remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. housed in a gatefold jacket with original album artwork featuring a surreal painting by german artist peter nagel plus lyrics and notes. “i wish you plenty of time” - klaus schulze

delsins reissue arm once again looks to the revered back catalogue of lost trax for a second 12 that picks out the best of the anonymous collectives work. the ep features five cuts taken from two highly sought after eps released on tabernacle records in 2011 and 2012. the eye opens things up with punchy drum programming and the sort of sci-fi effects and synths that immediately take you to a future intergalactic world. its a weighty but emotional opener, while pulp is more twisted and urgent, with warped synth sounds and busy, bristling drums and perc all building pressure throughout. the forest resets the mood with mystic synths and mysterious atmospheres that mix ambient beauty with suggestive skeletal beats. b01 then canes through the cosmos on a detroit electro tip with slithers of synth, swollen pads and crisp hits and dominion rounds things out in hurried fashion. the restless electro drums pound away as prickly snares and cymbals, blurts of machine noise and sweeping pads all wrestle for attention and keep you on your toes. this is high octane electro and techno designed with metallic precision but oozing plenty of human feelings.

radio slave’s colossal ‘the revenge’ track now gets expert remix treatment from klasse wrecks label head luca lozano. luca has also released on the likes of optimo, sex tags ufo and unknown to the unknown and brings a raw, acid tinged sound to his beats. as a performer lozano’s versatile dj sets span between raw house, cosmic disco and dynamic breakbeat selections, which is why he’s become a regular at key clubs across europe and tasteful festivals like houghton. his ‘how bow dis’ remix’ is solid and features wild old school flavours in its huge drum breaks, a monstrous bassline and dark filtered vocals. it bangs for seven superbly heavy minutes with plenty of twists and turns along the way, and will transform any club or warehouse into a writhing, sweaty mass in seconds. on the flip, his ‘how bow dah’’ version is based around elastic drums and rumbling bass while a loose synth line darts about up top. some distant synths bring a sense of serenity to the madness and so despite the physical impact of this one, it also has real emotion to it.

b from e (frej garcia levin) represents a new generation of talented young artists making waves in copenhagen. of mexican-danish descent, and born and raised in the notorious tower blocks of the south-western suburbs of copenhagen, the 27-year old is on the up-and-up. in high demand as the founder of boom bap rap group natkat, producer of pop outfit ny sensei (new sensei) and head of tape-only label buddahood, the multi-talent seems to have a hand in everything at the moment. his 2017 debut porno tr-xxx (c.u.p) saw some of the hottest names in the game spinning b from e at last year s dekmantel festival, resulting in offers from several well-known record labels.

his new record on tartelet records comes as four cuts exploring different paths of the garage house sound. the opener dark energy is fueled by filthy breaks and a nostalgic theme that would not be out of place in an early atari computer game. the people (dream mix) is a trippy tour through subtle layered melodies, carried by a stripped-back groove.

on the b-side you will find positive sister (2605 tool) : a chunky cut with a serious bassline. saving the best for last, you will see , rounds off the record in style. a feel-good tune that is sure to get plenty of spins this summer. hot tip!

yagyas rigning album from 2009 is the icelandic producer s most acclaimed dub, techno and minimal masterpiece. due to popular demand, delsin are now re-issuing it across three slabs of vinyl. previously only available as a double pack with eight tracks, the new re-mastered version features all 10 of the tracks from the original cd. gumundsson has been making music for years both solo and as part of the thule musik collective. he is an album specialist who has worked as yagya since 2002 and has put out six albums since then. they come on labels like force inc and sending orbs where rigning was first released and manage to be both absorbing and detailed yet suitable for relaxing background listening. his last two albums, sleepygirls (2014) and stars & dust (2016) appeared on delsin records. rigning is essentially one long track split into movements. it depicts a city sleeping as gentle rain falls and dubbed out grooves zone you out. yagyas style is always patient and slow burning, his grooves are long and drawn out and his pads reach up into the heavens. this whole album in coated in a warm fuzz and is a real comfort on dark, long, cold nights. as insular and melancholic as it is, there is also plenty of beauty in the melodies and delicate keys. from dark and gloomy to more optimistic and meditative, there is a sophistication throughout this always cinematic album that continues to make it stand out nearly a decade after it was first released.

goshawk returns for hudd traxx 60th release with erik rico supplying the vocals. get up 2 get down is a peak time groover with plenty of funk to boot accompanied by some seriously soulful lyrics. art of tones picks up the pace on the remix with a heavy bass line added with open hats to take things up a notch. flip for the b side and find the love has gone, a brilliantly made house track made for the dancefloor. goshawk closes things out with a laid back deep house dub on b2

the mythical liquid pegasus returns - this time on clandestine boogie, firmly setting out his stall as one of the best around when it comes to modern synth boogie. ‘makin it hot opens up proceedings, synth stabs and squelchy basslines a plenty, married with layers of intricate melodies and a vocoder transported straight from the 80 s. matt hughes takes on remix duties converting that squelchy bass synth into a more straight up funk bass guitar, adding shuffling high hats and weaving in a little jazz flute for added effect. on the flip side it s prime low rider cruising courtesy of sparkle combining a full-bodied bass, cosmic pads and woozy synth flurries to create a soundtrack perfect for late night coasting. to close out the e.p. dave allison adds his own sparkle to the track, upping the tempo, adding a range of hazy arps and sweeping synthesis alongside a perfectly executed bass breakdown, taking sparkle from midnight cruiser to boogie bomb.

after putting out kito jempere s well received sea monsters album last year, hell yeah now serve up another selection of remixes of it. accomplished musician jimi tenor, plus miskotom and max essa all contribute before a 7inch, also taken from the album, lands later in summer. first up is jimi tenor, the legndary finnish musician who has released on warp, collaborated with tony allen and has his own band as well as occasionally playing sax with kito jempere band at live gigs. he flips puzzled into five minutes of stripped back and moody electronics with plenty of his own flute playing in the track. busted drum sounds, spooky sci-fi synths and scattered hits make it woozy and late night and utterly absorbing. miskotom—a newly emerging pair made up of mik and his wife andra, both based in vilnius, lithuania with credits on pleasure unit and balearic —then reimagine ampa as a beatdown but of deep house with trudging drums staying low and shimmering synths drift out in all directions. crunchy hits bring a subtle sense of funk and reverb drenched vocals bring a heavenly feel to the soul drenched grooves and summery keys. then comes max essa, the japan based brit who is a regular on this label as well as the likes of is it balearic?. his first remix is a huge one that is sure to soundtrack many a boat party this summer. it s a gorgeous rework of ampa that puts achingly blissful vocals front and centre as low slung bass and slowly turning drums sink you into a pan-pipe laced reverie. secondly, essa offers a dub reprise that removes the vocals and places all the focus on his churning drums and new age grooves. this is another perfect package of masterfully electronic horizontal sounds.

the next release on brazil s ever-promising disco steamer gop tun comes from renato cohen. cohen has been an infrequent mainstay of brazilian dance music for a long time now, most recently appearing on kling klong, tronic and 100% pure. his releases may not come around every day, but he makes them count when they do. -dynadisco- is a spaced out slow burner with a looped up groove and simmering pads building towards a powerful, funk-fuelled bass drop. -party jam- takes a lighter approach, keeping the samples sprightly and even sprinkling a little acid magic into the tune. it gives whatever/whatever plenty to be working on their remix, which spreads across the b side in a fit of electro-disco finery.

after launching last year with who, get your copy returns to the fray with a little help from italian powerhouse steve murphy. the producer gets plenty of action on labels like hot haus, chiwax, lobster theremin and more besides, so you know you re going to get a solid dose of tuff house business delivered with that gutsy roman attitude. -everything u know- channels an abundance of 90s vibes, from the nagging chord stab to the understated speech sample, while -infiltrator- takes a tribal direction without losing the old-skool flavour. both cuts are perfectly shaped for the dance, whether you want to hit a peak time note or take the crowd deep into the groove

nat wendell launches the depth of my soul label with a confident slab of deepness that should draw plenty of heat on the peaks and troughs of the house music landscape. -the way- is a crisply produced pumper, revolving around a seductive little lead line and the haunting titular vocal hook - there s a whiff of tech in the make up of the track, but the groove is all house. -theoretics- follows down a similar path, keeping things moody and mechanical without disposing of the funk, and then it s down to -release your soul- to bring a little light into proceedings with some mellow keys and dubby flourishes.

spanish techno artist aiken is back on his own timeline label with another ep that offers up four more of his evocative takes on the genre. it comes after previous outings on non series and semantica and is his label’s first release since 2016. “basic principles” is up first and mesmerises with a pulsing lead synth line that forever changes shape. pummelling drums power along below and add up to a disorientating and hypnotic overall effect. “theory” is deeper and more rubbery, with manic synths and pads all racing along and pilling on the pressure while “midline” is right out fo the jeff mills playbook with its molten sci-fi synths journeying through outer space. clean, crips drums are upright and taught and get you on your toes, then “restriction” closes things out in superb minimalist fashion. this ep covers plenty of ground, and all of it is utterly compelling.

the finnish tropical troupe maajo is back with a two-track ep. in contrast to the afro-balearic sound of their 2016 debut tropic of tulli, the new defo / mansaba ep is a step in a deeper and sometimes darker direction. defo kicks off the ep with a driving 5/4 rhythm. reminiscent of mark ernestus’ ndagga sounds, it is a tribal tune with maajo’s signature ethereal disco elements. trevor deep jr.’s version straightens out the original’s unconventional time signature and focuses on a four-to-four beat and plenty of berliner dub. the remix is a solid dancefloor tool, traversing the original like a train making its way through a dark rainforest. the b-side is entirely covered by mansaba, a 14-minute long journey into inwards. this studio jam, recorded largely live, is a wild mixture of polyrhythmic sequences, krautrock guitar licks, equatorial forest percussion and violin synths. the trip starts slow and soothing, sneakily picks up pace and keeps grow and growing, eventually exploding into a full-on tribal dance.

manchester producer andy hanley has had one previous outing on ruf kutz but now hes adopted the haners alias to kick off the misadventures label with an assured grip of warm, discoid funk shot through with a healthy dose of 80s production finish. heaven is definitely the most dancefloor ready track a shimmering slice of laid back disco house with plenty of hooks and a dreamy, slightly dubbed out atmosphere. girl is more audacious, slowing the tempo right down and riding on a brittle beat and a heavily reverbed dose of island boogie. you keeps things slow and easy for the gentle part of the night a consummate smooth groover.

get on down proudly presents another top-notch vinyl reissue, from their long-running series of collaborations with james brown’s famed 70s funk label people records. as the 1970s wore on, the classic funk sounds that had defined james brown’s backing band, the j.b.’s, gave way to the rise of disco music. fred wesley and his collective of musicians couldn’t resist the chance to make their mark, releasing “hustle with speed” in 1975, with charles bobbit and don love producing, and the godfather himself, james brown co-writing and providing arrangements. “hustle with speed” didn’t cross over like the band had hoped it would, but it was nonetheless remarkable album, featuring the j.b.’s signature funky style married with disco to exciting effect. all the while there’s still plenty to be had for the funk die-hard, from the brass blow-out jam “here we come, here we go, here we are”, to the trombone-heavy “all aboard the funky soul train”, to the powerhouse opening salvo that is “(it’s not the express) it’s the jbs monaurail”. songs from “hustle with speed” would take on lives of their own decades after the album’s release, through sampled appearances in tracks by jay-z, nas, eric b. & rakim, ultramagnetic mcs, epmd, and many more.

mark ambrose doubles up on his appearance on was/is with this strident bout of deep end dwellers, kicking off in style with the charged up strut and punchy mono bass of makossa (mix 1) making a point of stepping into a more peak time sound. makossa (mix 2) takes things in a more bugging direction, but there s still plenty of pressure to be felt in the wriggling low end mess and nagging hi hats. the teakup mix of makossa is a devilish broken beat track, and then wagamama slips in a loopy melodic hook and lets a firm but freaky slice of techno roll out underneath

deepartsounds may be a sublabel of moto music, but it s achieved so much on its own terms over the past decade. now joe lewis is joining the esteemed ranks of the label with even more experience behind him he was recording for the likes of relief records and peacefrog way back when. its no secret when you listen to his jams on back 2 live, where rugged and raw synth lines sit atop tough machine beats. love mystery is plenty tender where it counts, but 9 lives and confused house head towards a rougher end goal for the nastier kind of party.

edwards graceful take on modern house and techno is a perfect fit for trelik, and the german producer sounds comfortable as he unfurls swooning threads of otherworldly music for the tripped out dancefloor. the ogermania mx of mikko is a hazy, string soaked affair pitched somewhere warm and dreamlike, but there s plenty of energy churning away in the lower register. lottery is a more twitchy affair for darker times, all moody bass bounce and looming drones around a shuffling set of percussion. groaning ghosts is the techiest of the bunch, and theres a whole lot of freaked out sound design swirling around in the mix as well. this is simply stunning, highly advanced dance music from a modern day maestro.

discos capablanca return with a record from the mysterious detroit-based sharif laffrey (we know little more than his place of birth, and that he likes to ride his bike and warm weather) who brings the heat on the turn it up 12 inch. recorded in detroit in the late 80s and released on a cassette tape compilation in 1988, the original *turn it up* is a long forgotten gem from the period that electro was beginning to morph and mutate into nascent forms of techno. excavated by hugo capablancas label, the track is presented in an edited version that stays true to the original and complemented by an acid dub not dub version that implements plenty of deranged 303 action.

milos arrives with his fifth release on his receptive visions label. two techno cuts with plenty of energy and emotion, aimed directly for the dance floor. contact high with it’s swirling sounds, moving in and out of this rather tasty techno groove. priming on the other side has solid drums with rave style stabs, that adds a different feel to this vinyl only release.

late last year, we modestly celebrated the sixth anniversary of lph records by releasing a 10-inch that reconnected us with our very first ep by bringing back two of the artists who contributed to it, runaway and soft rocks. now, as a sort of companion to that, we have lph___vi , a 7-inch that gives shine to a couple other names that have been spotted on lph party flyers of old and back catalog credits, jacques renault and daniel t. both these are fun, flavorful little disco nugs united by funky bass guitar fretwork and plenty of sassy woodblock, though jacques leans towards the goofy and daffy, whereas daniels brings some synth-pop seriousness into the frame. as befits the format, both hover around four minutes in length.

leigh darlow and matthew bandy have got plenty of experience in the world of deep house, both individually and as saison. building on a solid run of releases for papa records, the project makes its vinyl debut on guesthouse with some undeniably catchy jams for the peak of the night. -please don t go- is a cool slice of party fodder that hinges on a classic soul vocal hit, while -do you- gets a little more choppy in the mix with yet more recognisable licks that should get the masses sweating and swaying without needing to resort to a hectic tempo. -the moody blues- lets the keys do the talking, while yet another of the hefty grooves saison craft so well rolls out underneath.

new berlin based label fox and hound recordings’ first release brings experimentation into the leftfield from relative newcomer cocktail party effect. building from his release on pinch s cold recordings last year and past releases for r&s s sister label apollo as kasket, cocktail party effect shows us there is plenty of exploration to go with an idiosyncratic two step adventure of an e.p. a familiar uk bass feel with an explicit character of its own.

the make mistakes ethos is one of diversity and evolution, and that is showcased in full on our newest vinyl release need your luvin. house, acid, techno, roy england, jarvi, fredy grogan. one track, three styles, all dance floor bounders. roy englands original mix is a jackin house jam with a timeless vibe. a classic house sound propelled forward by the titular vocal sample, england manages to deliver a track that would work equally in the lounge, as well as late night in the big room. on the b side jarvi s acid workout strips the original down even further, and fills it back up, with a wandering, hypnotic acid line to stitch it all together. an old school party sound, both familiar and fresh. fredy grogan deconstructs the original into its component parts, building it back up into his dark, and driving dub techno remix. drawing it out over nearly 8 minutes, this ll have the heads bouncing off the walls. house, acid, techno, pillars of dance music, mixed together, given the ol razzle dazzle, and served up hot and ready for mind, body, and soul. grab need your luvin, stick it in the crate, and never worry, because you ll always have the luvin you need. beware the irrational, however seductive. shun the transcendent and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. distrust compassion, prefer dignity for yourself and others. dont be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. picture all experts as if they were mammals. never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. seek out argument and disputation for their own sake the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. suspect your own motives, and all excuses. do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.

for the third release on kwench records, cassy collaborates with stockholm’s art alfie. between them they deliver two diverse tracks brought together with a touch of class and cassy’s distinct vocal. for the remix, german dj / producer chris count rounds off the ep by delivering an acid tinged version of ‘solar’.
art alfie enjoyed a successful 2017 as a solo artist. his first project of the year, the ‘reveries of’ lp, released on none other than studio barnhus. this was swiftly followed up by another solo effort on his karlovak imprint he runs alongside mr tophat. both releases garnered plenty of support from across the dj spectrum.

waxwing pops up on re-fix with a crafty, chopped up soulful house approach that will sit right with fans of max graef and felix lenferink. -can you- is a summery jam with plenty of sliced and diced vocals and romantic sweeps of melody, while -longfunk- gets a cheeky shuffle in the mix with splashy drum hits and nifty rhodes stabs to get bodies popping uncontrollably. -do it for em- gets even twitchier in the edit, using all kinds of heavily funked up samples to create a killer groove. -stand it- takes a more classic new jersey approach without losing that instinct for crafty twirls and curls to spice the mix up.

for fans of metrolux, russian torrent versions, delsin, black venison. this 4 track ep has artists with decades of experience that packs a punch of contemporary techno and has plenty of different textures to build any set. owen-jay, half of revered label/artist gauss ltd. (battibatti, metrolux, uq) launches with a tough, raw hypnotic driver of crushed filter distorted patterns. next molegrip, collab between brian james (battibatti, metrolux) and caspian rabone (polaris, battibatti) keep the groove with classic techno and dub atmospherics. on the flip sees unknown artist cmnt deliver some arpeggiated lazyness before cyan341 (rednetic, uncharted audio) polishes off the ep with a tight beat supported with an elegant ambient foundation.

as ever, the next project on opilec music is one with a rich back story this time paying homage to a very specific disco scene of the early 80s: it finds label boss i-robots turning out one of his brilliant reconstructions, namely of a classic and cult track by one hit wonders ahzz. this track was first released on land of hits, a label run by peter brown (who also wrote -material girl- for madonna) and michael campbell and has now been officially licensed for this reissue by opilec music. the track, new york s movin was huge on the new york disco scene and was played by the likes of david mancuso at the loft, larry levan at the paradise garage and by nicky siano at studio 54, but continued to be a big hit with modern new york tastemakers kenny dope, dj spinna, danny krivit and his body & soul party crew well into the 90s, as well as with stars like motor city drum ensemble and bulljun. i-robots is a notorious producer and record collector with a vast understanding of the history of house and disco and his version combines an original vocal and instrumental version into something really magical. new york s movin (i-robots reconstruction take i) is a jangling, organic and lose limbed disco number with a funky drum line, soul in its bones and plenty of lovably rough percussion, clicks and drums. a retro and impassioned vocal line adds flair to the track at the midpoint just before that groove kicks once more. this version is featured on the new i-robots - reconstructions 2007-2017 10th year anniversary release. new york s movin (i-robots reconstruction take ii) is then just as emotive and outgoing but after the break has more of a focus on funk. this is a huge party starting track filled with feel good vibes and once again proves opilec music work on only the most special projects.

on the magic movements latest trick, xique-xique from sao paulo paints a psychedelic panorama of the mysterious world of amazonia, full of waterfalls, bellicose woman, and an endless flora & fauna. by combining brazilian rhythms with elements of techno, dubby house and plenty of bird sounds they create a unique bunch of vivid slow jams to get lost in. being already a classic in the infamous circles, xaxoeira is finally available on vinyl ! this vibey masterpiece is the straightest of the bunch, a proper slow-mo house tune, with a dark flute sample and a broken organ that grinds its way into the deepest corners of your brain. nicola cruz (multi culti, zzk rec.) delivers a superb remix of xaxoeira which adds rolling percussions and delay madness to the original material.

deeplabs happily welcomes jeff hess for his debut release cherubim ep. eagerly anticipated, this record encompasses jeff’s sound inspired by mid-90’s minimal techno. cherubim ep focuses on classic leaning and stripped down analog techno to create functional dance tracks with unique character and plenty of soul.

a landmark album from late 60s brazil! this is the first – and the wildest – album by this legendary group that was one of the founding forces of the tropicalia movement – a brilliant musical statement that easily ranks with some of the most groundbreaking late 60s american work by the velvet underground, captain beefheart, or the stooges! the music is a wonderful blend of 60s rock and early mpb – hard-driving with plenty of guitars, but also produced with beautifully baroque touches that echo through simultaneous albums by caetano veloso and gal costa – both of whose 1969 albums are strongly resonant with this one. in fact, caetano contributed a number of tracks to the album, including -panis et circenses-, -bat macumba-, -trem fantastma-, and his great -baby-, which is done fantastically here. great stuff all ’round!

the third album from the legendary os mutantes – part of the essential trio of sides released during the tropicalia years! the record’s got a sound that’s tighter and a bit more straightforward than their previous efforts – stricter song formats, and styles that lean heavily on rockish guitars and organ. but as the odd cover images on the front and back will attest, the band is still in a very creatively arty mode here – still working strongly with arranger rogerio duprat, in a wash of sounds and moods that fold contemporary music back upon itself with plenty of odd twists, turns, and surprises! titles include -desculpe babe-, -oh mulher infiel-, -quem tem medo de brincar de amor-, -hey boy-, -haleluia-, -ave, lucifer-, and -meu refrigerador nao funciona-.

planned structures leaving plenty of room for improvisations. experiments morphed into full fledged tunes and established genres transformed into experiments. dan andrei and paul agripa teamed up under the comojii moniker to release joac o pasta, a result of their rich musical imagination going wild, recorded during long jam sessions at times when both artists where experimenting with sounds. expect raging synth pop sounds, acid elements and electro tinged broken rhythms. a mad child of 2 forwardthinking artist minds, joac o pasta finds a perfect home under the cuplet roof.

shlomo takes a step away from his own taapion records to return to delsin for his second full ep for the label. the parisian producer serves up two of his modern techno jams, a lush ambient piece plus a slamming rework by tommy four seven. up first is in absentia: tome 2, a follow up track to his last ep on the label. it is another cold techno cut with turbulent drums down low and icy, slithering hi hats up top all backed by synths that light up the track from behind with a heavenly glow. tbilisian cure is a more abrasive affair with blistered synth lines and scurrying electronics running through the fast and brutal drums. lali then flips the script and offers an ambient excursion with watery synths forming celestial puddles in the sky. it s a zoned out soundtrack that s the perfect comedown. finishing off the ep, 47 label boss tommy four seven flips this one into a weightless techno groove that rocks back and forth on the drums as sweeping chords leave you feeling suspended in mid air. plenty of ground is covered in this one, and all with equally compelling results.

following swayzak’s gestures of a sycophant, the third release on beatnik boulevard sees the return of appleblim after he launched the label in style with the conch shell motives ep. this time the berlin-based producer is working alongside long-time collaborator and fellow bristol bassweight alumni komon – the duo have turned out eps for aus music and apple pips in the past, but this 12” represents the first new material from them since 2014. the heads-down, meditative lilt of appleblim & komon’s bristol past looms in the shadows on this ep, but it’s shot through with a steely, modernist dance floor bite and high-end sound design. know yourself pivots around crafty, 2-step kinked drums but there’s plenty of space afforded to atmospheric synth surges that plunge the track into a mood-altering headspace just to the left of the conventional dance floor

already a regular studio collaborator with richy ahmed, michael jansons aka jansons strikes it solo on the fourth release for richy’s flourishing four thirty two label. the “mode” ep finds jansons following up from recent chart topping original releases and remixes for knee deep in sound, lower east and his “panic at the disco” single on leftroom, which is their best selling single on beatport to date. it’s a bumper 4 track ep, showcasing and encapsulating the many shades of jansons unique sound, and bolstered with a remix from aforementioned collaborator and label boss, richy ahmed. the original mix of “mode” comes correct with plenty of classic house music chops, frenetic synth keys jab away over a rubbery, percussive groove for a sophisticated and energizing club cut, whilst ahmed plumps for a real old skool flavor on his remix. chugging drums and a tight bassline give more than a whiff of classic windy city house vibes on this killer remix. two versions of “colours” are packed with hypnotizing string riffs and bumpin’ percussion, with the “alternative mix” edging it in the more stripped down techno stakes, whilst “sequential” find jansons in disco mood, with rolling drums, string stabs and a deadly bottom end groove that wraps up a fine release from this burgeoning british talent

maciej banasik has been releasing plenty of music as mb as well as docetism since 2012, but this release on silent season marks the first time the prolific artist s music has been committed to wax. in true silent season style the mood is consistently haunting, leading in with the foggy pulse of dentario enneaphyllidis fagetum i before the second part of the piece heads off into pure swelling drone. querco pinetum i is a different kind of droning techno that comes loaded with cinematic poise, but it makes for a natural partner to the a side. the second part of that piece drifts into calming field recordings of birds and shapeless synth swells of a truly majestic nature.

for release number 16 on de:tuned stefan robbers aka terrace steps up to the plate. the veteran and well-respected dutch producer from the city of eindhoven unleashes four brand new techno tracks with a strong detroit dna for the discerning dancefloors. it’s everything you’d expect from a terrace release: a crisp and warm analogue sound with plenty of melody and groove, dubby undertones and fat chords. the icing on the cake is the optical themed artwork created by designer openmind (aka strictly kev, dj food, ninja tune). as per usual matt colton from alchemy mastering reworked the source material to guarantee a flawless listening experience. this release will be available on 180 gram vinyl. a digital release will also be available from all the usual outlets. stay tuned!

chicago godfather mike dunn presents a new album thats fuelled by a pumping heart of pure house and a body of powerful analogue muscle. my house from all angle is a record destined to fully reinstate this already respected figure at the upper echelon. despite releasing countless classics like face the nation, god made me phunky, let it be house and personal problem, plus plenty more underground gems under pseudonyms like qx-1, the jass man, the phunky people and the md connection this is mike s first longplayer since 1990. the album title represents the different styles of mike’s large and long-standing catalogue that’s beloved of both diggers and djs alike. a master of deep stroboscopic acid, booty jackers, hip house and groovy us house/garage all are represented within.

following a double dose of newfound los angeles talent, apron records founder, steven julien (aka funkineven) returns home with the debut release from london-based enigma, molinaro. apron 35 is classic apron records material five slabs of soul-drenched techno anchored by groove and grit from a new name with plenty of experience. molinaro who has honed his production and djing craft for over a decade is one of the capital s best technicians behind the decks. a skill most recently recognised by nts radio, who rewarded him with a regular monthly slot on the airwaves. the first of which shot straight into the nts picks for the week. opener gio cements the tone from the off, drifting in with warm, enveloping pads, quickly joined by beefy drums and percussion in a five-minute sprawl out. jtl is arguably the standout a boogie-influenced roller aimed at prime time dancefloor. ty and -molow showcase the deeper, moodier face of molinaros sound palette before the beatless sofar rounds things out, paying homage to ryuichi sakamotos synth brilliance.

french producer jules etienne reappears with a 3 track ep including a jex opolis remix on barcelona s finest disco imprint apersonal music. jules shows his most elaborated work to date evolving to a more band oriented production filled with plenty of live instruments and vocals as seen on free as a man and dont want to talk about it. on the b side rhythm for the garden part i is a mad ride driven by live percussions and a drum machine. canadian producer jex opolis whos been releasing top stuff through his own good timin label comes on board on the release remixing free as a man. guilty pleasures all around

as proprietors of the will & ink label, yaleesa hall & malin genie have been maintaining a busy and consistent release schedule of top notch techno sounds, largely releasing their own, well received, productions. the duo appeared on hypercolours 10 years compilation in 2016 with the excellent buchan trap, and weve been blessed to secure a full single release with the on-point pair. the mechanical funk of artin swings with plenty of assured groove, the shuffling hats, dense kicks and dubby stabs that ping pong across this fierce production mark this out as a real killer cut. dario & marco zenker, aka the zenker brothers, take time out from their busy ilian tape operations to remix artin into a brutal yet funky techno goliath. congas perpetually roll forward, with frenetic 909 hats and raw and ready stabs in what may well be one of the zenkers finest remixes to date. the essence of funk continues in hall & malins music, with cahen, a great slab of compelling techno that never slips too far into darkness, instead keeping an ever evolving groove and some abstract drone like synthesis to keep the mood buoyant. wrapping up the release is brown, a track that finishes as urgently as it starts, perhaps with a cap doffed to the purpose maker sounds of a certain jeff mills, but broadening the palette to allow some trippy sound architecture and an effective breakdown mid way through. modern day techno supplied by a duo that will most certainly flourish over the coming months, yaleesa hall & malin deliver the goods aplomb on this hypercolour single.

the 5th ep on the label of our man bastian bux goes one step beyond. this time he delivers a lovely vocal track featuring kyla millette and the final result is a modern techno track plenty of soul and elegant vibes. the remix package of this lights ep is awesome. steve rachmad delivered not one but two remixes, the first one in a first class deep way and the second one under his sterac nickname, electronic laidback pop for connoisseurs. fur coat did a raw techno remix, powerful but with all the elements under control. if you are a real electronic music lover, here you will find at least one track you will love, trust us
