greetings and thank you all for your support of our last release the mystic re-issue by norm talley. today i would like to introduce the first release from our second offshoot label tmr essentials! this label will focus on our new deeper releases. out the gate we would like to present: euphonic moods ep by brett dancer. the first release from our head honcho since 2006, and nothing but deepness on this slice of vinyl. v2 forces the boundaries of tech and house as it builds to climax, atmospheric bliss with this! space is simply rhythmatic integration, beats and chords, driving bass, get ready to move. the lost is very reminiscing of the early 90s groove with a millennium twist, bouncing bass melodic chords, call and response vocals, end result classic!
malcolm moores altered moods imprint comes through with the self styled deep as fuq >loves all right ep< featuring contributions from dubbyman, amir alexander and mr done!
although it has found emotional music from france, russia and south africa over the years, for this release it returns to the birthplace of deep house, chicago, to focus on up and coming producer matthew wieck. opening the ep with the wiry tones and lush pads of >flying feeling< whichs take you up into the stratosphere with its floaty vibe, its complimented by >hydroacoustics<, which utilises an aquatic arpeggio lead and warm, oozing pad underneath, held together with crips, charged percussive work. on the flipside >worlds beyond< demonstrates wiecks darker side, with an acid bassline riffing against cavernous piano in what sounds like a more introverted take on larry heard. altered moods boss malcolm moore finishes off the ep with >cleared direct<, an 808 jam held together with foggy chords and disembodied radio transmissions - the perfect compliment to wiecks fine material.
moods is a playground that gives you out of the (sand)box tracks as well as a swing for new artists to fly. it is about inspiration & experimentation good music to lift your mood, delivered on pure white vinyl.
the more perceptive among you will no doubt twig the musical direction of an ep entitled >the deepness< by 2deepsoul before the needle even hits the groove. if you hoped it was going to be brimming with ocean deep grooves and burning chords - deep house in the truest sense - then youd be right. malcolm moores altered moods recordings brings us the debut release from 2deepsoul, aka rai scott and brad peterson, who set their stall out with a title track dripping with moody synths and hypnotic drums n hats. >escaping insanity< meanwhile is underpinned by a delicious acid line - perhaps the most outright floor-friendly track on this here 12inch. the metronomic pulse of >harmony< is augmented by a majestic one note synth loop that gently soars above - a rasping hat soon joins the fray along with the gentlest of string flourishes. >continuance (theory of lazy clap)< is equally bewitching, with a title and arrangement that wouldnt sound out of place in the dj sprinkles catalogue<
known for his releases on his own x-world communications, form, & casey hogans macintosh label, brad returns to the scene of his >excerpt from a deep souls diary< with 4 new deep house tracks.
in the impressive flow of new talent in 2011 on fokuz recordings we already had the pleasure to present the sound of brother, command strange and intelligent manners among others. the next flavour of the funky liquid melting pot called fokuz recordings goes by the name donnie dubson. berlin based irishman donnie o sullivan aka donnie dubson started releasing his funky rollers on have a break and influenza media and already featured on fokuz on the chronicles of the deep lp together with stunna back in 2007. the grapefruit / battlecat release on influenza media in 2009 got him a lot of attention and is still heard in dj sets today. now its 2011 and fokuz presents the beautiful debut album of donnie dubson! his sound can be described as refreshing and original liquid drum n bass with a touch of the well known atmospheric drum n bass vibes from the mid 0s. his basslines are the unique sellingpoint as well as his ability to create an organic feel in the music thats only done by the few who truly understand what liquid drum n bass is all about. pleasuring both critical listeners and the dancefloor audience this album is a perfect overview of the sound fokuz stands for. a great example of how music can be time-less in this decade of fast moving consumer goods.
slamming three track ep, first track afro acid is a raw, noise (distortion effects) and dirty sounding with live feeling, not made for high fidelity people, really really raw... flipside is more for deep & jackin house lovers, especially b2 (freedom) is just a deep house masterpiece
jenifa mayanja, respected new york dj, producer and owner of bu-mako recordings, steps into the altered moods collective for an exciting two cut vinyl release, >desire more<. the first side slides into a subtle groove with voices and synthy keys over a beat itching to get you on to the dance floor. then a variety of warm melodies join in, bubbling and be-bopping onto the main cut, a collusion of claps, beats and riffs. jenifa comes back and leads us to a saucy clarinet that could be rehearsing in the next room, unaware of our presence. yet it echoes the feel of the piece, dancing away from and back to the rhythm.
deep in the night, 2000 and one and sandy huner met up in their amsterdam studio to record >baile bass groove<, reflecting their early hour mood, this tune is the perfect tool for the afterparty.
on the flipside we welcome robert babicz, a name which doesnt need introduction! the title >take it deep< says it all, deep chords and floating strings are the ingredients which penetrate and power this groove.
last but not least, diego moura & diogo accioly better know as talking props both resident at d-edge in sao paulo, bring you >walking on white sands<, funky stabs and catchy vocal snippets make this track rock the dancefloors.
second release on jamie jones & lee fosss hot creations label is the first release by hot new talent robert james. a burgeoning producer, way ahead of his game who will soon be familiar for his insanely infectious music, not least for -sleep moods- his debut ep. -sleep moods- is the type of record that you never want to end. drilling into the mind with rattling bells, rolling bass and echoed calls of go deep all night no sleep. this is an unstoppable dancefloor gem, catching your attention from first listen and leaving you wanting more. as -sleep moods- breaks into its groove through haunting sirens and dark rave stabs that keep the energy levels stoked up, it leaves no doubt that robert james is an original and skilled new artist. on the flip -connected- is another explosive original, crackling with kickdrums and sharpened with supernatural synth stabs. in a similar vein to the sound of jamie jones, the hot creations label creator, you can see where these two producers have found common ground. completing the package, parisien house afficionado dyed soundorom takes on a remix of title track, -sleep moods-. producing a stripped back dubby version that works at any point of the night, a skill that dyed has become renowned for. dyed has been part of the freak n chic crew for many years and has also released on crosstown digital rebels, spectral, murmur and supplement facts.
those of you who know rezkar (real name rezenio kariem) know that he brings the heat, all day, every day. and its no different this time >cosmos< brings you classic deepness from the wunderkind from port elizabeth, south africa in the form of a three-track vinyl ep.
more deep and moody grooves from mike grants label. greg stadford is behind the monkier black art whos previous production credits have included mixes of blake baxters seminal deep n da groove ep. nice and jazzy the favourite cut is just groovin a wicked blend of st germain keys and funky organ riffs, over some skippy detroit drums. dig this is a mellow late night journey of psychedelic horns and guitar licks with dreamy pianos floating over the top. sweet is more on a broken jazz tip with live drums and a cute vocal snip that dubs itself over the rhodes bed. the production quality of this ep is stunning. very strong stuff from m & g!
the a-side holds a hard-hitting, percussive techno-house hybrid that sounds a bit like an air frog production but features additional cool vocal licks on top. b-side has a basic, bass-heavy, pouding tech-house groove with strong detroit sound influences. strong!
two gorgeous tracks from detroits moods and grooves label that will fit nicely in the bags of djs who like it live and with a little world-music flair! bouncy latin drums, flutes and soft keys mix nicely on this new mix of abica souls and glenn undergrounds >esta hermosa cancion<, while gene hunts >i live< gets a tasteful dub mix. strong record that will sound great at the shelter!
after a bit of a quiet period, moods & grooves returns with a heavy hitter gu (aka glenn underground). an icon from the 2nd generation of chicago house music producers, gu by far is the most prolific. back to the basic is a concept through which he returns to the roots of chicago house when producers made the music, not a computer or program.
owner of teknotika records gary martin is best known for his funky, exotic, and tribal grooves. the jennifer ep does not disappoint and delivers elements which range from hypnotic, percussive, and, tribal techno with that >detroit< flair
credited with some of the biggest tunes and remixes of our time, mr g returns to the detroit based moods & grooves label. while best known as a techno producer, mr gs relationship with m&g allows him to show his diverse musical tastes and offer something for the house and techno dj. one for the head û low slung reminiscent of a 12 minute theo parrish production with a extended buildup and teasers throughout. one for body û activator a nice blend of techno and twisted funk

rezkars fascination with music began with his parents record collection. listening to local radio stations as a child, he heard 80s tracks. as an adult he discovered the magic of 60s and 70s jazz and funk. one day, his cousin played a track that he immediately fell in love with. he later learned that this was house music. he discovered the fruity loops sequencer software and thought, why not try to make my own tracks, after all, it cant really be that hard? deep house can sound deceptively simple. its a bit like japanese anime, rezkar says. it looks so cute and easy to draw, but try to actually draw it, and you will discover its even harder than realistic drawings. the thing about house is that if you try too hard it can come across as being very cheesy, but then again, if you dont do enough it can sound incomplete. finding the balance is not easy, rezkar admits. after hearing his music, one finds that he is learning this lesson quite well.
altered moods recordings, the label that explored the ocean floor with its two previous releases, presents its third, cosmic soul with brad peterson at the helm as trackmachine. mr. peterson is a long standing member of the amr collective, having contributedmaterial to amrs debut lp, love...lost and found. under this new moniker, he explores galactic deepness...
