its been almost three years since the berlin based producer and off recordings label boss andre crom (alongside luca doobie) last appeared on freerange with their attica ep. well summer is upon us and what better way to return to the label than with an amazing sun-drenched vocal track accompanied by a remix from the hotly tipped diynamic artist david august.
in 2006, hip-hop was turned on its head by the arrival of chicagos kenny dennis, a proudly married, mustachioed and middle-aged rapper repping no-nonsense lyrics and a salt-of-the-earth swagger. this unlikely hero delivered a handful of classics via the album, dennehy, and then disappeared. but in 2011, kennys cult of fans were given a gift: the long-lost 1993 lp theres a situation on the homefront from his theretofore unheard boom-bap crew tha grimm teachaz. (kenny was then known as kdz, tha killa deacon. the group was briefly signed to jive records.) as it turned out, that gift was twofold. inspired by the anticon-backed release of that unearthed gem, kenny has teamed up with producers jel and odd nosdam to make a brand new record, a reintroduction of sorts, dubbed the kenny dennis ep.
long waited 4th ep from japanese deep house force pan records is here. unlike precious releases, this is volume 1 of its various artist sampler series. all 3 of them are scheduled to be released in 2012. first track to open the series is >flash back< by sai. this japanese producer has been favored and debuted from morris audio in 2010. the track has dreamy and floating feel to start off with, later it gets more grove going with subtle vocal goes behind. stays musical yet feels minimal, a2 also kept the vibe from a1 and makes you stay in the dreamland. it is by only the non-japanese artist on this wax, dennis uprock aka resoe from denmark. he is the owner of baum records and one half of the duo >pattern repeat< and this rather timeless track exactly demonstrated his years of experience in producing. >future progress<, is true and honest to its name. dj pi-ge is one of the owner of the label along side of ryo murakami and sisi. he provides a track with punchy synth and revered black man’s vocal. notably slow teasing build up from the beginning till the end, this is an interesting addition to the ep. attention grabbing. last of all, >rising moon< is by tokyo based artist naoki shinohara, previously released from xdbs metrolux music. this track can be described by strong hart beat like hi hats and soul filling melody. its a perfect closer to this quality deep house ep from the land of rising sun.

mbali remixes: jerome sydenham starts off the year with a fabulous remix of the underground classic >mbali< by motorcitysoul. sydenham makes an ambitious attempt to redefine the phrase >happy and uplifting house<. this, however, is not a gospel track. but instead is filled with lush cords and steady grooves. this is the kind of tune that really gets the party started. jero extended versions: the monster duo of dennis ferrer and jerome sydenham strike again at the core of house music. in this adrenaline fuel house epic you have sydenham on the beats and ferrer on the vocal chants. this one will be hard to resist even for techno heads.
nice price deal !!! under secret construction in the on u workshop for the last few months, lee perrys interpretation of the black sabbath classic iron man is finally ready, complete with heavy boots of lead. with adrian sherwood at the controls, and additional input from renowned reggae producer dennis bovell, this full on thumping dub stepper finds scratch positioning himself as the iron man - lion man - lightning man - super man who dont drink no booze while sub basses throb and wobble the bolts from his joints and the beats hit harder than a rivet gun... surely not what ted hughes had in mind. the flipside dub mix arrives courtesy of pempi, who recently broke out with a track on studio rockers? at the controls compilation. pempi ups the full of dread quota with a heavy barrage of drums, stuttering synths and swelling bass, to create a version that has the potential to consume every motor vehicle in the southern hemisphere. iron man lives again!

dennis ferrers the world as i see it album is still being listened to and its tracks are still being played, hence the remixes are gonna keep on comin… one of the most memorable tunes from the album, run free, is seeing remixes by 2 very distinct and quality remixers oddly found at opposite ends of the earth. uks sean mccabe debuts his talent for king street after having had past remixes and productions released on soulfuric deep, fluential, device, soundmen on wax, tony records and more. his chunky beat-filled interpretation of this single has a tough enough bass drum and nice enough funky key jabs as to keep the great energy flowing but not overpower the song. japanese-nyc transplant producer tomo experience grooves and soothes the eardrum. his easy kicks and lightly bouncing bassline puts a nice spin on this tune, all the while kt brooks (r.i.p.) fervent vocal laying atop the 2 re-product ions. check out these cool remixes for great measure and greater flow.
two slammin instrumentals from mr. ferrer grace this new double a sided ep of tracks from his forthcoming full length. this ep again showcases dennis diversity and distinct ability to go from uplifting spiritual deepness to hot, underground, deep, danceable, head nodding tech. >transitions< has that repititive synthy bassline with latin claps and afro styled percussion and gargled vocal sample. >destination< starts off with slapping rhythms, adds strings and middle eastern flavors then throws in parisian styled accordions. he meticulously assembles all these sounds and creates a smooth seamless boundary defying sound

HEADPHONE SILENCE / HENRIK SCHWARZ RMXS - DIXON & DENNIS FERRER EDITS
12 Inch 04.06.08
norwegian songwriter, guitarist and vocalist ane brun is a rising star. with two norwegian grammys for best female artist and song of the year in 2005, her most recent and third studio album >changing of the seasons< entering the norwegian charts at 1 and the swedish charts at 2 the future looks very bright for her. now brun has connected with dennis ferrers - objektivity. ferrer has gathered an international cast of some of todays leading house and techno producers to take the works of brun one step further. the aptly named >ane brun objektified< full length will be released later this summer here is the first single, a taster of what is to come - bruns >headphone silence< remixed by henrik schwarz. schwarz composed his remix initially as a live lap top piece, mixing it down under the watchful eyes of close colleagues ame. on the flip you find a dixon edit
dennis ferrer gets remixed by charles webster & jihad muhammad. nj house producer/dj jihad muhammad takes us on a bonafide rhythmic journey with his rendition of the change the world. you can’t help but feel a funky sensation run through your body as you dance to his groove. also, previously unreleased is charles webster’s ruff mix of ferrer’s soon to be classic >how do i let go<. a simple, yet classic, house montage which compliments k.t.s melodic vocals.
a powerfull soaring top line driven cut of epic proportions...with a slick house take on things, remix by those canadian wizards of the sonic shiloh on the flip!!
homewreckers - close your eyes til the morning the amazing success of their last release >its about time< challenged the homewreckers to push their sound a little further out. >close your eyes til the morning< is hardcore groove with a great, burning synth bass that funks along until new york singer dennis legree brings some excitement to the proceedings with his tremendous voice. its pure underground deep house - intense, abstract and dramatic. no wonder that felix da housecat and marshall jefferson supported those guys when they were teenagers! a vital alternative to the melodic clichés and rhythmic orthodoxy of the electronic music mainstream. langenbergs remix gets the b-side under way. backed up by a strong beat it rolls steadily ahead with unflagging propulsion. next up is >hot hot hot<, an exciting up-tempo number which gives kemo another opportunity to show his lyrical feeling while >smile< slows down the pace easing into a down-home hip-hop affair. this is the second of four records representing the vinyl collectors edition of the homewreckers forthcoming album >american ruhr<
respected uk remixer and house producer charles webster rips into one of the most played tracks from dennis ferrers hailed album the world as i see it. how do i let go started out as a soulful r&b tune but charles turned it inside out. on his club mix, charles removes the soulfulness and injects a more electric lounge flavor. his deep mix is just that, a profound pumpy, warped & heady affair. both mixes put a whole new twist on the single and are ripe for the early or late set.
excellent excellent tech-house track! objektivity is an evergrowing quality label, track produced by son of raw includes dennis ferrer in 3 mixes original tech-house groove, sax mix superb atmospheric driving sax with vocal snippets and a solid drum mix! dontmiss this one

one of ibizas top summer of 2007 songs, revered dennis ferrers >touched the sky< is served up three different ways here. managing to make its gospel house chorus sound almost scary yet distinctly house, joe claussells remixes defiantly add something new to this song. multi-layered and complex, the song rewards listeners with finding something new about the track every time its spun on the dance floor. and the deep, diva style vocals from mia tuttavilla are warped in >joes dub beats< into static-y notes that fit perfectly inside the hidden pockets of this remix. this is perfect music for after-hours. and in the same vein, >yass dubstrumental< adds another layer of something fresh andstraight out of left field on this massive hit from ferrer
